Insatia Signs With Pitch Black

Pitch Black Records today announces the addition of female-fronted U.S. / Canadian symphonic power metal act Insatia into its artist roster for the release of the band’s second album, “Phoenix Aflame," due out on June 23rd, 2017.

Formed in 2009 and fronted by charismatic vocalist Zoe Federoff, the band released its self-produced debut album “Asylum Denied” in 2013 and has since then opened for multiple international acts, including Sonata Arctica and Dark Tranquility.

Pitch Black comments: "The band’s upcoming release 'Phoenix Aflame' is a melodic power metal album with masterfully blended folk and symphonic elements. To top it all off Federoff’s amazing vocal work adds a spectacular dimension to the album’s already superb atmosphere and aesthetic.

"Producers Fabio D’Amore (Serenity) and Ivan Moni Bidin (Starsick System, Pathosray, Last Warning), joined by Staffan Karlsson (known for his work with Arch Enemy, Firewind, Roxette and many other notable acts) have surpassed all expectations in producing this album as the end result is simply outstanding!

"The album features guest performances by Apollo Papathanasio (ex-Firewind, Spiritual Beggars), Chris Amott (ex-Arch Enemy, Armageddon), Christian Hermsderfer (ex-Visions Of Atlantis, Serenity) and Erica James (The Erica James Band) as well as the astonishing artwork of talented artist Gogo Melone." Decrepit Birth Posts 360 Degree Lyric Video

Decrepit Birth is set to release first new album in seven years, "Axis Mundi," on July 21st via Agonia Records (Europe / ROW) and Nuclear Blast Records (North America).

"Epigenic Triplicity" is the first single to be revealed from the record - check out the track in the form of a 360 degree VR lyric video below.

"We’ve gone through an evolution throughout the years" says founding member and primary songwriter Matt Sotelo. "The last couple of albums we had, 'Diminishing Between Worlds' and 'Polarity,' were more progressive death metal. They were different from' …And Time Begins,' which is a different genre of death metal.

"It’s more brutal. I’m the type of guy who likes to experiment. '…And Time Begins' has no solos. It’s all really fast palm-muted riffs. The other albums breathed more with the guitars. I let chords ring out on Diminishing Between Worlds and Polarity. Axis Mundi is combination of all the stuff I’m into. I like it a lot right now. It’s more melodic. The riffs repeat intentionally. I want to have fun with these songs."

"I don’t know if we’re going to re-shape death metal," he continues, "We’re just a band. We’re doing this. We’re fans of the genre. We do our own thing with it. It’s our own paint job. What sounds cool to us. We don’t aspire to be the most technical band out there. The technicality isn’t our main goal. Technicality is part of what we are. When we were writing this album, we wanted the songs that had riffs that repeat. There’s more structure with our new stuff. We’re trying to write good music. We want to entertain people out there. Hopefully, everybody likes 'Axis Mundi.'" More...

LA industrial group 3Teeth today released "Shutdown.exe" on OMF Records. Fans can now purchase and stream the record at all digital retailers and indie record stores - listen in below.

Over the last few years, 3Teeth has quickly evolved from a provocative underground act to a band on the cusp of becoming one of rock’s most exciting new bands. 2016 found the group opening for the likes of Tool, and this year that meteoric rise continues with the release of 2nd full-length album, "Shutdown.exe."

Self-produced by the band, mixed by Sean Beavan, and mastered by Howie Wienberg, the new album is a brooding record that seethes with relentless aggression and unrepentant attitude.

M.O.D. Streaming New Album's Title Track

With song titles like "You're a Fucking Dick," "Busted, Broke & American," and "All Out of Bubblegum," you would think that M.O.D. clearly isn't masking any intentions on the band's upcoming new album.

"Busted, Broke, and American" will be released July 7th via Megaforce Records and today the title track comes online - check it out below.

As to be expected, "Busted, Broke & American" is fast, it's furious, and it makes no apologies. It also mixes hardcore, punk rock, and thrash and the end result is a thoroughly combustible collection of songs. The words "I'm sorry" are not a part of the album's vocabulary. At the center of the sonic storm remains Billy Milano, who has never been known to shy away from speaking his mind. More...

Deity Posts New Song Online

The brainchild of Danny Alessandro (guitars/vocals) and John Massey (guitars/vocals), Toronto death metal duo Detiy has been a long time coming. The band's debut, self-titled album is now finally due out June 2nd, 2017.

Danny Alessandro comments: “We formed about 15 years ago… Myself and John have always been the core of Deity. We had both been working on other projects till we felt the need to finally go in and finish this album about 3 years ago. We’ve known each other for about 20 years. We got tired of working on metal that wasn’t true to us. This is an album we’ve always wanted to hear!”

Cellar Darling Posts "Black Moon" Video

Cellar Darling, the new band formed by ex-Eluveitie members Anna Murphy, Merlin Sutter and Ivo Henzi, today releases a brand new single entitled "Black Moon" along with an accompanying music video.

The single promotes debut album "This Is The Sound," due to be released on June 30th,2017. "Black Moon" leads Cell Darling's fans through an abstract, apocalyptic vision of the end of the world as seen by different cultures and religions all engulfed in a lunar eclipse. The music video was shot in the beautiful Tenerife. The band comments:

"We're proud and happy to present to you the first single from our upcoming album 'This Is The Sound': 'Black Moon'!

"'Black Moon' is one of the first songs we wrote after our debut single last year, and probably the point where we definitely "found" our sound. Ivo randomly called his original demo 'Moon' and that triggered the idea of a story based on the fear of a black moon... So, as a lyrical theme, we ended up exploring mankind's tendency to add an apocalyptic interpretation to the lunar eclipse. More...

Avatarium Releases "The Starless Sleep" Video

One week before the storm of "Hurricanes And Halos" reaches the shore, Swedish doom sensation Avatarium today unveils a music video to the brand new single "The Starless Sleep."

The catchy track with it's howling guitars and Jennie-Ann's raw bluesy voice shows a melodic and surprisingly uplifting side of the new album that builds a bridge between soft moments of lights, beauty and darkness.

"I love all the songs on the new album and I'm very proud of what we accomplished," states guitar wizard Marcus Jidell. "But if I had to choose a favourite track with a gun to my head, I'd pick 'The Starless Sleep', because that song has so much 60's vibe in it, but still sounds like nothing I ever heard before. I think that song really has all the ingredients that makes a great Avatarium song. It's dark and poetic but with a warm, organic and heavy sound. Avatariumm never sounded better then this."

The video was shot in Stockholm and directed by Johan Bååth, who already produced "Pearls And Coffins" off the band's previous album. More...

Slaegt Streaming Full Album

"Domus Mysterium," the debut LP from Copenhagen, Denmark-based black/heavy metal outfit Slaegt, is out now in Europe through Ván Records, and will see release this coming June through the label's new U.S. branch.

You can stream the album in full below or over at YouTube directly here if the playlist doesn't display properly. Issues Slaegt on the release:

"We are very proud of what we have achieved with 'Domus Mysterium' -- our first full-length as a group. It is an amalgamation of our work and inspiration up until the point where we entered the studio, and we feel that it perfectly shows how we have evolved and grown, as musicians and songwriters, since the recording of' Beautiful And Damned' in April 2015.

"The music contained on this album is more focused, and the lyrics are as personal as always, based on external as well as internal experiences. We have primarily found our inspiration in the moments we share with each other, be they exhausting, uplifting, defying logic, or making us even hungrier than before. To us it is the best work we have done thus far, but we also feel, that our full potential has not yet been reached, and it is in some ways only a taste of what is to come." More...

Gene Single Streaming "Tornado Dreams"

Gene Single, a genre outlaw solo musician from Ukraine producing a weird kind of heavy music, has scheduled his new album release for July 2017.

Get ready for something quite different with this heavy take on electronic music, offering a very different take than your typical industrial metal or synthwave. The music is balanced enough to be harmonic and catchy but still have desperately sad, creepy, and heavily aggressive moments.

Gene comments: "It irritates me when a band, playing some ordinary kind of music, invents a new term to define it, in order to look special. But I honestly have no idea which of the existing genres I should choose to describe my work. I tried to remember and I tried to Google.

"None of the bands I know come to my mind when I try to remind if there is anything similar. If you know - tell me to make it easier. But at the moment unfortunately there is probably no other way, than to invent a new silly word to describe a kind of music I make, and I feel a bit uncomfortable with it. Let it be 'metalwave.' But I am not insisting."

The album also features a guest spot by singer/composer Hania Zdunek, as well as two covers from Gigantic Brain and Iron Curtain. Check out advance track "Tornado Dreams" below. More...

Wreche Turns Black Metal Upside Down

Ready for something totally off the charts that forges ahead boldly into the unknown?

The Wreche duo will drop a self-titled album via Fragile Branch Recordings next Friday, May 26th, and today we're giving you an early listen to a new track!

Check out the unhinged piano / abrasive black metal mashup of the album's fifth track "Vessel" below. Like what you hear? Pre-orders are online over here.

The old piano wire creaks and whines as the hammer turns, wrenching the pin from the rotted maple. Steel clinks and piles upon the concrete while the wires twist and fall, knotting like weeds. As the spirit is pruned, it protests gently, plying the old songs—a final ghostly stride through the mind’s quiet gramophone. Wreche expands the palette and language of the piano to black metal.

By transforming and revising the guitars of black metal, replacing them with shards of crystalline harshness and frenzied scherzos, Wreche invites space for new interpretations of genre, forging a path out of the proverbial forest—be it Norwegian, Olympian, or Appalachian—and into something more hopeless and sinister.

1. Pruning the Spirit
2. Angel City
3. Fata Morgana

Formicarius Details Debut Full Length Album

The spells have been cast, the planets have aligned and the date has been set! On July 21st, Schwarzdorn Production will unleash "Black Mass Ritual," the full length debut album from the corpse painted fiends of Formicarius.

Along with the hugely popular single, "Lake Of The Dead," which featured on the Sony/Music For Nations compilation album, "Speed Kills VII" (see lyric video below) and is now near to selling out its second pressing, the album contains seven other magnificent, malignant incantations. Some, like the epic and dramatic "A Requiem For The Bloodborn" and the fiercely feral "May The Rats Eat Your Eyes" have already bewitched audiences in the live arena. Others have never been heard outside of the band’s inner circle. Together these songs form one of the most potent and poisonous black metal albums to ever be invoked on English soil.

The cover art for this masterpiece of malice was created by renowned artist Gary Ronaldson – a man who has created visions of horror for the likes of Napalm Death, Benighted, Misery Index and Kreator. For "Black Mass Ritual" he has truly outdone himself, with the artist himself recognizing the tableau of torment as one of the most challenging pieces of his career. Check it out below.

Soon your invitation to the "Black Mass Ritual" will be issued. Stay awake...stay alert...watch the shadows, because the night draws in and it’s darker than you think. Be ready to pledge your soul to the flag of Formicarius.

The track listing for the album is:

1. Lake Of The Dead
2. Overlord
3. May The Rats Eat Your Eyes
4. Under Darkness
5. Where The Gods Go To Die
6. Abhorrent Feast Of Minds

Tankard Has "One Foot In The Grave" In New Video

In 1982, when four long-haired metal maniacs from Frankfurt am Main, Germany decided to found a band named Tankard, nobody expected them to still be going three decades later. Ahead of the release of their 17th studio album, "One Foot In The Grave," the band drops the official video for the album's title track. Check it out below.

The video was produced by Australian video director Aaron McLoughlin. The music video was shoot in the Frankfurt (Germany) in the pub "Alte Liebe" in February 2017. Aaron also produced the animated Tankard clip of the song "Fooled by Your Guts" in 2014.

Gerre states: “As Aaron was also already responsible for the comic clip of ‘Fooled By Your Guts’, we have spared neither cost nor effort to fly him in from Australia for recording this new clip with us. This clip is on the one hand really ironic because of our age but on the other hand also a bit sad. Everything is only temporary! This time we wanted a video without the usual hopping-around with our instruments, we just want to try something new! I think we managed this quite well. Have fun with ‘One Foot In The Grave’!”

"One Foot In The Grave" will be released on June 2nd via Nuclear Blast and features the following track listing:

1. Pay To Pray
2. Arena Of The True Lies
3. Don’t Bullshit Us!
4. One Foot In The Grave
5. Syrian Nightmare
6. Northern Crown (Lament Of The Undead King)
7. Lock`Em Up!
8. The Evil That Men Display
9. Secret Order 1516
10. Sole Grinder
