The Ditch And The Delta Posts "Sleeping Dogs"

With the release of Salt Lake City-based trio The Ditch And The Delta's debut LP "Hives In Decline" set for release through Battleground Records next week, today new track "Sleeping Dogs" is offered for public consumption.

Engineered by Andy Patterson of Subrosa, "Hives In Decline" shows The Ditch And The Delta exploring further aspects of sound design within a unique take on doom/sludge metal. Employing different tunings, and modal centers, every song the band writes manages to avoid many of the usual doom trappings of excessive feedback, static harmony, and exploratory riffs.

"Hives In Decline" also features a swarm of solos by Gentry Densley (Eagle Twin, Iceburn) on the song "Fuck On Asphalt." The lyrical content deals with everyday life and the constant suppression and alienation that comes with it. Three men from Mormon-dominated Utah are bound to have a lot of resentment and disdain for the mono culture they exist in daily. More...

Igorrr Releases New Video

On June 16th, Igorrr - the brainchild of French musician and eclectic composer Gautier Serre - will release new album, "Savage Sinusoid," via Metal Blade Records.

On this record, electronic manipulations, accordion, saxophone, sitar, harpsichord, mandolin and strings sit comfortably alongside ruthless blastbeats, chunky riffs, death grunts and soaring operatic vocals - and as chaotic as this might sometimes seem, there is no lack of heart behind everything thundering from the speakers.

For a preview of "Savage Sinusoid," a new video for the track "Opus Brain" (directed by Garrick J. Lauterbach) has come online and can be seen below. More...

Internal Bleeding To Continue On With Tour

On April 20th, Internal Bleeding drummer and veteran FDNY firefighter Bill Tolley passed away after falling five stories from a rooftop while battling a two-alarm apartment fire in Queens, New York. The tragedy touched family, friends, his bandmates, the city of New York, and the worldwide metal community.

Many fans expressed concerns as to whether Internal Bleeding would continue and more specifically, whether the band would still take part in the upcoming "Strike Of The Empire" U.S. tour with Vader.

"Bill was having trouble getting all the vacation time needed to complete the tour, so we had a backup drummer in place and ready to go. He will be filling in," wrote the band via Facebook late last week.

"Bill would want it no other way. When we were discussing the problems with his vacation, he told Chris [Pervelis] something along the lines of, 'You've gotta do it, bro. Fuck it, no matter what happens, Internal Bleeding needs to go on. You gotta do it, asshole.' So we think it's only appropriate that we do this tour, continue with the band, and continue to release music in Bill's memory, and in the memory for all those metalhead men and women who have fallen. There is no other way. Metal is our life. Our love. Our passion. And to our fans, you are family: we don't leave family hanging. We got your back, because you always had ours. Our backup drummer will be announced soon. Out of respect to Bill, please don't ask. Love and metal always: Chris, Shaun, Chris, and Joe." More...

Goatwhore Reveals "Vengeful Ascension" Album

Goatwhore will release the "Vengeful Ascension" full-length album worldwide on June 23rd via Metal Blade Records. The band's seventh full-length and second recorded reel-to-reel, "Vengeful Ascension" was captured at Earth Analog in Tolono, Illinois with longtime soundman and comrade Jarrett Pritchard (1349, Gruesome), breaking a four-album tradition of working with Erik Rutan.

"Working with Rutan was awesome," says Goatwhore front-man Ben Falgoust. "We did some great records with him. But you come to a point where you're like, 'All right. Let's try something new.' It was part of trying to remove ourselves from a comfort zone and a risk thing we needed to take. Plus, we really wanted to hit the essence of where we are live and what better way to harness that than by having our live sound guy involved. Jarrett is knowledgeable with the studio stuff. He also knows how we sound coming out of a PA and we really wanted to get closer to that."

The resulting ten-track, forty-one-minute production - mixed by Chris Common (Tribulation, Pelican) and mastered by Maor Applebaum (Faith No More, Halford, Today Is The Day) - marches in, clutches its listeners by the throat and refuses to loosen its grip until the abrupt conclusion of "Those Who Denied God's Will."

"Each song is a representation of Goatwhore. From day one until now. It really shows our evolution as a band," the front-man reflects. "I don't think that this band has reached its peak yet. I mean, I think we're closer now than ever but we're still growing; we're still evolving." More...

Don Jamieson Discusses "Communication Breakdown"

Metalunderground.com is 1000% devoted to covering the best metal in the underground. Sometimes we even argue if something is fitting enough to be on the site. We rarely cover anything outside of the realm of music, but every now and then something like Don Jamieson “Communication Breakdown” comes out and we feel compelled to cover it.

Not only has Jamieson co-hosted VH1 Classic’s That Metal Show, he is a big metal head and much of his stand up is devoted to heavy metal. He even has a Dave Mustaine riff on the album as a transition to and from the stage. He’s a funny guy who has a special talent of being able to bring two worlds: metal and comedy together, so it only seemed right for us to chat with him a bit about his new stand up album. Also, he’s a big supporter of the metal underground, so we feel it’s only proper to give him a little support. More...

Pteroglyph Issues "Red On You" Video Clip

Jimmy MacGregor, under the pseudonym Pteroglyph, issued a video clip for the new song "Red On You." The song is taken from the upcoming new album "Death Of A Prince," which is set for release on June 23rd.

"I used to regularly wake up in a cold sweat from a nightmare where I was constantly being chased by some sort of terrifying sinister force," comments Jimmy. "I put the reasons for the dream down to times of high stress in my life and 'Red On You' is basically a way of addressing this and the need for change. It's the idea that running away from your problems doesn’t make them go away."

The blood soaked video was shot on a shoestring budget by a good friend of Jimmy's, Ben Daure from Grape Productions. "I approached Ben with a more comical idea involving similar gross themes but this was quickly overturned in favour of creating the most graphic and gruesome video we could. We enlisted the help of some close friends who are extremely talented at visual effects and latex prosthetics to make all the gory mess. We recruited more friends to be the main protagonists and even borrowed our guitarists children to star in the video..."

The track listing for the album is:

1. Left Blind
2. Unaccountable
3. Deceit Of Choice
4. Red On You
5. The Wanderer
6. Death Of A Prince (song streaming here)

Ten To Issue New Album "Gothica"

British melodic hard rock band Ten has announced the upcoming new album "Gothica," which will drop on July 7, 2017 via Frontiers Music Srl.

The highly anticipated new album promises to be one of the strongest collection of songs to date. It is full of all the trademark textures and flavors we have come to expect from Ten, arguably one of the best and most consistent melodic hard rock bands in the genre. “Gothica” renews Ten’s longstanding association with the Frontiers label and proudly displays all the hallmarks of classic Ten albums and will surely continue to build upon the rich legacy that the great British rockers have forged over a career spanning 22 years and counting.

“Gothica” emerges as the darkest album to date. Embracing history, romance and erotic horror in equal measure as it does, the title proves to be a fitting name. As listeners, we are transported from the darker side of human nature to the nocturnal supernatural, a dramatic realm of nightmares and the forbidden. “Gothica” is cinematic in every sense of the word. A web of musically elaborate spells, evoking embers that spark the imagination courtesy of the classic song writing of vocalist Gary Hughes. More...

Seven Kingdoms Premieres "Kingslayer" Video Clip

Florida's Seven Kingdoms is about to power-metalize the ass of the globe on Friday, May 5th with the release of "Decennium," the band's Napalm Records debut and fourth full length studio album. Pre-orders can be made at this location.

To celebrate the coming album's release along with a North American tour with Evergrey, Need and Ascendia, the band teamed up with Metal Underground.com for the release of the video clip for "Kingslayer."

The band commented on the song: "'Kingslayer' is a song about Jaime Lannister's betrayal of his oath, which earned him that very nickname across the Seven Kingdoms. The Mad King was ready to blow up all of Kings Landing with stocks of wildfire hidden under the streets, rather than face defeat to Robert's rebellion. Having already seen enough atrocities committed by the king, Jaime could not stand by any longer with the lives of the entire city at stake. He murdered the Mad King, the one his life was sworn to protect. Instead of becoming a hero, this betrayal would be how history remembered Jaime Lannister.”

The track listing for "Decennium" is:

1. Stargazer (see lyric video)
2. Undying
3. In The Walls (see lyric video here)
4. The Tale Of Deathface Ginny
