Witch Vomit Releasing "Poisoned Blood"
20 Buck Spin welcomes Portland, Oregon-based death metal coven Witch Vomit to the label's ever-expanding roster of wrath, confirming the band's "Poisoned Blood" for late June release. An advance stream of the track "Doomed In The Realm Of The Dead" has been issued today and can be heard below.
Offering four new tracks, put simply, "Poisoned Blood" is one of the most brutal recordings to come out of the Northwest in recent memory. Ranging from blasting deathgrind, foul Finnish obscurity, and liquified, cannibalistic necromancy, the riffs on this MLP bubble up like slimy green rot leaking from crypt walls.
Mastered at 45 RPM for maximum mangling, and completed with eye-splattering cover art by Matt Stikker, "Poisoned Blood" will see release through 20 Buck Spin on June 30th. The track listing is as follows:
1. Intro / Doomed In The Realm Of The Dead
2. Circle Of Blood

Cytotoxin Announces "Gammageddon"
During the night of April 26th, 1986, a world-changing accident occurred at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant in Ukraine. A catastrophic meltdown befell Reactor No. 4, resulting in core explosions and open-air fires. Copious quantities of radioactive materials and airborne isotopes were consequently dispersed into the atmosphere and surrounding lands.
The disaster has been widely regarded as the worst accident in the history of nuclear power globally. As a result, Reactor No. 4 was destroyed and is being enclosed in a concrete and lead sarcophagus to prevent further escape of radioactivity. Large areas of Europe were affected by the accident, with the radioactive cloud spreading as far as Norway.
Moved by devastating consequences of the event, a German band called Cytotoxin pulverized the death metal world with its formation in 2010. Fast forward to today and its time for "Gammageddon." Captured earlier this year again at Kohlekeller Studios, "Gammageddon" centers itself on the city of Pripyat. Named after the nearby Pripyat River, the city was founded on February 1970 as the ninth nuclear city -- a type of closed city -- in the Soviet Union, to serve the nearby Chernobyl plant.
It was officially proclaimed a city in 1979, and had grown to a population of nearly 50,000 by the time it was evacuated the day after the Chernobyl disaster. The city is now a ghost town, and "Gammageddon" serves as a soundtrack to the horrors leading to the evacuation with its unadulterated technical extremity. More...
Tarlung Streams "Dying Of The Light"
Austrian group Tarlung released new album "Beyond The Black Pyramid" on May 5th, 2017 via Black Bow Records. You can stream second track "Dying Of The Light" below, or get your own copy at Bandcamp here. The following press release was also issued:
"Dense and suffocating, Tarlung's music crawls along ponderously, squeezing the life out of its listeners. This kind of expression in sludge is rarely done but ends up being most satisfying.
"The riffs command the direction, as within the mire of the deafening sludge you have catchy hooks and memorable tunes. Influences from closely related genres such as death metal and even stoner doom coalesce to form their monolithic sound. Listen to one of the heaviest albums in this style and quiver under its might."

John Frum Posts "Wasting Subtle Body" Video
Just days ahead of the release of a debut album, cult metal collective John Frum has now dropped a video for new song, “Wasting Subtle Body." Check it out below. The band’s new record, "A Stirring In The Noos," will be available for purchase and stream via Relapse Records on May 12th.
The video for “Wasting Subtle Body” was directed by Mitch Massie (Cattle Decapitation, The Locust) and is a mind-bending depiction of a terrifying ritual with haunting visuals. Massie comments:
“One thing I was really excited about with this project was to shoot nature in a way that depicts the character's inward journey. I didn't want to use the weird sex and death stuff I tend to do. This project was to be the beauty of nature herself! I went way out there with my camera and tried to get my inner hippie excited about tickling chakras, absorbing energy from stones, bathing in nature's blushing design...but all I found in mother nature was death and fucking (in macro)."
The mysterious John Frum is the manifestation of four musical minds coalescing in a collective consciousness developed from time spent playing with The Dillinger Escape Plan, The Faceless, John Zorn, Cleric and many more elite projects. More...

Caligula's Horse To Reissue First Two Albums
Caligula's Horse, one of Australia's most exciting and innovative progressive bands, is set to return to Europe in June 2017 for a string of live dates including support slots with Opeth, Anathema & Pain of Salvation, UK headline shows and festival appearances at Midsummer Prog Festival (Valkenburg, Netherlands) and the Be Prog! My Friend Festival (Barcelona, Spain). To coincide with that, InsideOutMusic will reissue the band's first two albums "Moments From Ephemeral City" and "The Tide, the Thief & River's End" on June 16th in both CD and digital download formats.
"Moments From Ephemeral City" was released in 2011, and is the band's debut album. Originally intended as a solo album by Sam Vallen, it quickly became the start of the story for Caligula's Horse once vocalist Jim Grey became involved. Recorded entirely by the duo, it presents a vision that is colourful, eclectic and vivid.
"The Tide, the Thief & River's End" followed in 2013, and was a concept album that explored themes of oppression, exodus, and the inexorable survival of the human spirit. The album saw them perform with the likes of Protest The Hero, Mastodon & Opeth, as well as garnering the attention of current label InsideOutMusic.
Vocalist Jim Grey comments: "We're thrilled that our first two albums will be far easier to get a hold of around the world now through Inside Out Music. 'Moments' and 'River's End' are an integral part of the Caligula's Horse journey - we learned a lot creating them and though it's been some years since their release, we're as proud of them as ever.
"We're looking forward to sharing fan favorites from our whole back catalogue with our friends in Europe in June!" More...
Mountaineer Wishes You "Goodnight"
Next week, Lifeforce Records will release the debut album "Sirens & Slumber" by Californian quintet Mountaineer, a sweeping and often stunning collection of influences, experiences and musical prowess that should light fires in the eyes of all kinds of music fans.
Guitarist Clayton Bartholomew is fresh off his gig with Secrets of the Sky (also ex-Lycus), and he continues his exploration of soaring, doomy tones with his band members, vocalist Miguel Meza (ex-Ashes of American Flags) and all three members of Lament Cityscape (guitarist Mike McClatchey, drummer Sean McCullough, and bassist David Small). The result is both righteous and downcast, neither particularly lethargic nor overly aggressive. The balance is uncanny, and it will hopefully garner the band a wide audience.
The album "Sirens & Slumber" will drop on May 19th, but the band has issued a video clip for the new song "Goodnight," which you can check out below.
Bartholomew had the following to say about it: "The video for the song 'Goodnight' was shot and directed by [Thou bassist] Mitch Wells and features his wife, Kathryn Teague. Mitch has done work for The Body, Full of Hell, Dangers, etc. I think the video captures the same sense of 'giving up' that the song implies, but with a twist. We let Mitch run with his interpretation of it, and I think he did a great job."
The track listing for "Sirens & Slumber" is:
1. Foam
2. Coma Fever
3. Measured Breaths
4. Womb (song streaming here)
5. Pull The Blinds
6. Siren Song

The Ditch And The Delta Premieres Full New Album
Mark your calendars: May 12th, 2017 is the day you get sludged straight to death!
That's the day Battleground Records will further expand the label’s already-diverse roster with SLC squadron The Ditch And The Delta's debut LP "Hives In Decline."
Engineered by Andy Patterson of Subrosa, "Hives In Decline" shows The Ditch And The Delta exploring further aspects of sound design, from sludgy doom to math metal for a style the band simply terms "Big Riff."
Employing different tunings and modal centers, every song the band writes manages to avoid many of the usual doom trappings of excessive feedback, static harmony, and pentatonic riffs. The lyrical content deals with everyday life and the constant suppression and alienation that comes with it. Three men from Mormon-dominated Utah are bound to have a lot of resentment and disdain for the mono culture they exist in daily.
You don't have to wait any longer to hear the end result for yourself, because today we're premiering the entire album ahead of release - listen in below!
Pre-orders are online right here. The album includes a swarm of solos by Gentry Densley (Eagle Twin, Iceburn) on the song “Fuck On Asphalt," and the full track listing is as follows:
1. Hives In Decline
2. Fuck On Asphalt
3. Sleeping Dogs
4. Dry Land
5. Till Body Quits
