"To realize the visual storyline we contacted the gifted Jeb Hardwick and flew him in to Copenhagen to shoot the ambitious video. Abhorrent Decimation Unveils New Album

London-based extreme death metal group Abhorrent Decimation is prepared to release sophomore album, "The Pardoner," hitting digital and physical retailers worldwide on July 28th, 2017 via Prosthetic Records.

The 10 track, 50 minute opus was recorded, mixed and mastered by bassist David Archer at Audio Empire. The intricate artwork for "The Pardoner" was created by German illustrator Karmazid, based on a visual concept by Vocalist Ashley Scott.

Conceptually, the album is an in-depth exploration into the Pardoner, English poet Geoffrey Chaucer's most depraved and deceitful character from The Canterbury Tales. The Pardoner is a religious fraud and hypocrite who preaches against the love of greed, yet whose own love of wealth enabled him to profit off the sins of others.

He claimed to work on behalf of the clergy, selling spiritual forgiveness for one's sins in the form of his pardons, which included forged "official letters" from high ranking church officials absolving one of their sins and bones and crystals blessed with healing powers. In Chaucer's story, the Pardoner tells a harrowing tale of three men whose materialism becomes the death of them. More...

Pit Stories: Curse Of The Soundboard

Alright metal heads, its Tuesday once more and that means its time for some new Pit Stories!

There's no crazy fan throw downs or quadruple conga lines this time around, and instead we're focusing on behind-the-scenes problems that cause bands grief, like malfunctioning (or non-existent) sound equipmment.

Guitarist Justin Krick of U.S. group Ascentia shared this tale of working under less than ideal sound conditions:

We opened a show in a small venue one night with touring bands Godmaker and Moon Tooth. The promoter was said to arrive soon with PA and speakers, but what he finally brought was a heap of gremlins! Finally, we decided to plug two mics into one of the powered speakers, for a hint of vocals, and start the show.

We kicked it off and gave it all we had, and by the end of our set, that speaker was pretty much shot. Nonetheless, Godmaker stepped up on stage and delivered an amazing set, though further crushing this poor speaker into oblivion. Pressing on, and eager to perform, Moon Tooth came to the stage and delivered one of the craziest and energetically mind blowing performances I'd ever seen at a venue like this. That speaker was cracking, clipping, distorting, and crapping itself, but Moon Tooth rolled with it, and raised the whole place to a new level of intensity.

Months later, Moon Tooth came back around to the same place, so we jumped on the bill. Determined to make the most of this one, we prepared to bring a backup PA system. However, days before the show, the venue went through some changes and had to cancel. So bummed, we scrambled to find a venue to make it happen, and on the day of, fortune smiled upon us with a bigger and better venue. All seemed to be looking up! The night was going great, and with pro sound and lighting amping the performances, we all anticipated our new touring friend's presence on stage. The moment was here, and the stage was set. Moon Tooth came out guns blazing and tearing up the stage! Until........... blackness. Lighting and soundboard went out. It seemed the gods were against us.

After an hour or so, the board was fixed. The band members were great sports about it, and performed a phenomenal short set to close out the night. Sound issues happen, but twice with the same band in this manner was crazy. We hope they'll return again soon though, and wreck the stage like they always do.

Founded in 2008, Ascentia is a five piece group based out of Greensboro, NC. You can check out the band's most recent EP "Pathways" below or follow the latest on Ascentia at Facebook here. More...

"The drums, which were performed by 19-year-old Victor Montanaro, had been sitting on my hard drive for about two years. Victor was perfect for this project. He was easily able to navigate all the shifting time signatures and adapt my programmed drums into his own parts. During some down time after recording the new Cannabis Corpse record and between Six Feet Under tours I decided to finish this thing up. More...

BTBAM Announces "Colors" 10th Anniversary Tour

To celebrate the ten-year anniversary of classic album, "Colors," Between The Buried And Me will embark upon a special tour this September/October that sees the band perform the record in its entirety. The "Colors Ten Year Anniversary" tour features support from The Contortionist, Polyphia, and Toothgrinder.

Between The Buried And Me comments: "'Colors' was our statement of rebellion. We were challenging how others identified us in the context of heavy metal, and ultimately, we were challenging how we identified ourselves.

"It was some kind of musical manifesto, in which we found new purpose and direction simply by throwing caution to the wind and purging every ounce of creative energy we had, regardless of how unhinged it may have seemed at the time. Ten years have passed and we are lucky enough to be able to play this album from front to back on stage for our amazing fans. See you all soon!" More...

Heresiarch Announces Debut Full Length LP

New Zealand death metal act Heresiarch announced that the band will issue the debut full length album "Death Ordinance" this on July 7th via Dark Descent Records on both CD and digital formats. Vinyl treatment to follow.

The album breaks a three-year silence following the band's 2014 7-inch "Waelwulf." Heresiarch first emerged from the depths in 2011 with the Dark Descent Records-backed release "Hammer of Intransigence."

"Death Ordinance" was recorded by V.V. in early 2017 and mixed and mastered by C. Sinclair in the Temple of Sol. Artwork for the album was done by Mistanthropic-Art and can be seen below.

Experience the band's evolution with the premiere of the new song "Storming Upon Knaves" over at this location.

"Death Ordinance" is set in a future ravaged by 30 years of war, global societies have collapsed into anarchic warfare between tribal bands. Following nuclear warfare and EMP's, remnants of technology are re-purposed solely for conflict. Regression becomes progress as oppression and power struggle with natural law and imminent extinction.

What remains of humanity struggles in the vestiges, the final lineage impotent and malformed, for the scraps of a dying world. The album documents the twilight of existence through three movements the onset as "Consecrating Fire" and concluding with "Desert of Ash".

Each song is deliberate with serving a purpose compositionally, as well as with the lyrical narrative. The track listing is:

1. Consecrating Fire
2. Storming Upon Knaves
3. Harbinger
4. Ruination
5. The Yoke
6. Iron Harvest
7. Lupine Epoch
