Eluveitie Announces Tour With Amaranthe
Swiss folk metal band Eluveitie is now putting finishing touches on an upcoming second acoustic record entitled "Evocation II." After a release show at Summer Breeze, Germany, the band led by Chrigel Glanzmann will embark on a European club tour to present these new songs to the fans live on stage.
Swedish modern melodic metallers Amaranthe will be accompanying Elevutie on this European adventure. The Charm The Fury will serve as opener. Chrigel comments on these upcoming shows:
"As you might know, we're in Tommy Vetterli's iconic Newsound studios at the moment, recording our upcoming album 'Evocation II!' But the 'tour bug' already got us once more and we can't wait to finally hit the road again. And so we're excited to announce our European tour this fall - all the more as we'll be in fantastic company, for we'll bring along our swedish friends from Amaranthe, as well as the shooting stars of The Charm The Fury, who will open the shows!
"And even though we'll present brand new songs off our upcoming acoustic album, we'll of course lay waste your cities with a full neckbreaker set! So expect nothing less than one hell of a fucking metal massacer! m/" More...

NY In 64 Streams New Song
New Jersey-based instrumental hardcore outfit NY In 64 has released a first single from impending second album, "The Gentle Indifference Of The Night," which is nearing release later this month through Magic Bullet Records.
The first example of the record's lush riffs and tones is on display with "50 Lbs Of Ash" - listen in below. Offers guitarist Chris Alfano:
"For roughly a year and a half or so, NY In 64 has been in a long-distance relationship. Our bassist, Tom, moved to Albany, New York from New Jersey, but we were determined to keep the band going. '50 Lbs of Ash' was the first song we wrote in full after transitioning to a new way of doing things, which involved sending recordings back and forth and then cramming things into longer weekend sessions when we were able to get all four of us in the room.
"So I remember being especially happy with the way this one turned out - not just because it covers so much ground (from quiet and creepy, to us at our heaviest, to triumphant harmonies), but also because we wrote one of our best songs in spite of working around new logistical challenges. So uh...high-fives all around, I guess?"
NY In 64 has booked a record release weekend May 26th through 28th with shows in Flemington, Providence, and Brooklyn, and new tour dates are being planned as well.

Alkaloid Issues Album Update
The follow-up to Alkaloid's 2015 smash hit "The Malkuth Grimoire" (reviewed here) is now being recorded, with Hannes Grossmann issuing this update via Facebook:
"I'd like to do something unorthodox here. The clip below is a rough mix taken from the studio today and features a short sequence of the new Alkaloid album, which is going to be released on Season of Mist in early 2018.
"There is slight compression on the drums for raising the overall volume and the kick trigger added is for monitoring purposes (I don't use it for the album mix). Other than that this is how my drum set sounds for real, completely dry. I really really like it. The clip is taken from a 19-minute song which will be on the new album.
"It is the most extreme section, most other parts on the album will be a lot more melodic than this. Recorded at Mordor Sond Studio." More...
Bison Machine Signs With Small Stone
Michigan heavy rockers Bison Machine just signed to Small Stone Records. The Hamtramck-based volume dealers have been on a this-time-it's-personal quest to hand-deliver riffs across the country since the 2015 release of debut album, "Hoarfrost."
Now this hungry group is ready to take the game to the next level, preparing a new album for release later this year. Bison Machine will enter Rustbelt Studios (Five Horse Johnson, Halfway to Gone, Novadriver) later this summer to record.
"It's amazing," enthuses Bison Machine bassist Anthony Franchina about the signing. "Small Stone has released some of my favorite records, from Sasquatch to Greenleaf to Lo-Pan, and we couldn't be more thrilled to work with Scott [Hamilton] on our next record, which is going to completely blow away everything we've done before. We'll be hitting the road too, so keep an eye out!"
"I can't wait to hear what Bison Machine brings to this next record," says Scott Hamilton of Small Stone Records. "They've been unstoppable on tour for the last couple years and I'm thrilled to welcome them into the Small Stone fold representing the next generation of great American heavy rock and roll." More...
Ultimatum Re-Issuing "Puppet Of Destruction"
Roxx Records will be re-releasing a classic Ultimatum album on vinyl, with the label issuing this statement:
"Please join us as we celebrate the 20th anniversary of this seminal underground Christian thrash album entitled 'Puppet of Destruction!' Yes that’s right we are proudly releasing a limited edition vinyl pressing of the album from Ultimatum which is actually the band’s second full-length studio release.
"Originally recorded in 1997 and released in 1998 via Rowe Productions the album was well received but the band was never quite happy with that original releases master and mix. So Roxx Records would go on to remaster and reissue 'Puppet of Destruction' on CD to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the release. Now as we approach the 20th anniversary of this album Roxx has spared no expense making this release extra special for the fans and the band as we celebrate Ultimatum and their 'Puppet of Destruction' with its first ever VINYL release! Saosin's Beau Burchell Hosting Nail The Mix
Saosin enhanced a subgenre that continues to resonate and evolve throughout time. With multiple Billboard Top 40 charting releases under the band's belt and the release of 2016's "Along The Shadow" featuring the return of original vocalist Anthony Green, Saosin continue to raise the bar.
Nail The Mix is pleased to host Saosin guitarist, producer, and engineer Beau Burchell as May 2017's guest mixer. Walking the line between musician and producer can be a hefty balance, but Burchell has excelled at both - producing, engineering and/or mastering albums by the likes of Emery, Underoath, It Prevails and of course, Saosin.
This month, Burchell will dissect his striking mix of the band's recent hit track, "The Silver String," cut from latest album, "Along The Shadow."
Beau Burchell will lead an exclusive livestreaming class offering a complete walkthrough of how he mixed "The Silver String/" NTM subscribers can download the multi-tracks today, then join Burchell for the livestream on May 28th. NTM will also host a Q&A chat with Burchell on May 15th at 2:00pm ET, exclusively available to subscribers. More...
Anima Nostra Finishes New Album
Industrial / doom duo Anima Nostra has completed work on a second full-length album, titled "Atraments," which is set for a June 16th release through Malignant Records.
Initially the name of a collaborative CD between Henrik Nordvargr Björkk and Margaux Renaudin released on Cold Spring in 2016, the duo has now relabeled and solidified under the Anima Nostra moniker, and in turn, broadly expanded the existing sonic palette, taking more intimate ritual ambient aspects of the debut, and incorporating them as part of towering constructs that blur the line between death industrial, doom metal, and neo-classical.
Completed with artwork by Thomas Ekelund, "Atraments" will see release through Malignant Records digitally and on digipak CD this coming June 16th.

2. Naamah, Blameless

M.O.D. Announces New Album
With song titles like "You're a Fucking Dick" and "All Out of Bubblegum," you would think that M.O.D. - shorthand for Method of Destruction - isn't masking any intentions on this upcoming new album.
In fact, it would be a logical assumption that Billy Milano and co. are putting their unabashed and unedited thoughts and feelings out there for all to see and hear with "Busted, Broke, and American." The album will be released July 7th via Megaforce Records.
"I had taken off time with M.O.D. in 2009," Milano recalls. "We had done 100 shows for 2007's 'Red, White & Screwed.' I needed a break. My dog Buster, an American bulldog, got sick with cancer and I started to play guitar again while staying home with him. I started jamming again, anticipating something quick, but it wasn't."
"I just started playing guitar, while sitting there, looking at him, giving him medicine," he says. "I wanted to run and play with my dog, and I couldn't. The only way to be with him was to sit there and play guitar. I had no goal to do a record. I just wrote all the material." More...
Bad Wolves Posts "Learn To Live" Video
Unpredictability drives progression: when art can’t be pigeonholed or pinned down, it elevates the very medium itself. Bad Wolves thrives on that sort of unpredictability, standing confidently at a crossroads between anthemic hard rock infectiousness and thought-provoking and technically-charged heavy metal.
Think of a cross between the musical malevolence of Meshuggah and Sevendust’s timeless irresistibility, and you’re halfway there. The vision of ex-DevilDriver co-founder and previous driving force John Boecklin [drums, guitars] and vocalist Tommy Vext [Snot, Westfield Massacre] as well as Doc Coyle [guitar], Chris Cain [guitar], and Kyle Konkiel, the group’s full-length debut represents metallic evolution. Check out a new video for "Learn To Live" below. More...

Obelyskkh Streaming Full New Album
"The Providence," the fourth LP by German doom/sludge quartet Obelyskkh, is out now in Europe and approaching U.S. release through Exile On Mainstream. Check out a full stream of the album below, courtesy of Echoes And Dust.
The title of the new Obelyskkh excursion might remind one of H. P. Lovecraft's iconic poem, and you'd not be wrong, as these classic words provided inspiration for lyrical content and the artwork for "The Providence." But that's only one dimension.
The other is illustrated almost perfectly by French revolutionist Victor Hugo: "Above all, you can believe in Providence in either of two ways, either as thirst believes in the orange, or as the ass believes in the whip." The band lived by this message, beating the record out and fighting an uphill battle.
"The Providence" was recorded and mixed by Andy Naucke and mastered by Brad Boatright (Sleep, Tragedy, High On Fire, From Ashes Rise, Integrity), and again sees cover art crafted by Sebastian Feld/Marginal Ink. More...

Fortis Amor Releasing Self-Titled Album
Fortis Amor has been a progressive metal passion project for guitarist / vocalist / producer Ryan Duke since its inception. After spending years carefully crafting and perfecting his music and releasing two EP's of more modern takes on the genre (2009's "Passage" and 2012's "Seismic"), Duke is releasing his earlier musings out into the world.
The self-titled full-length "Fortis Amor" album is scheduled to be released on May 19th and is available for pre-order via Bandcamp. Check out an advance track streaminb below.
Duke says, "I began writing some of the songs on this album as far back as 1998, which might be why this album sounds so timeless. I don't feel it can be tied directly to any passing trend. I would say 75% of the writing for this record actually happened between 1998 and 2005 on an acoustic guitar in total solitude."
With uncapped time on his side, Duke was able to create and engaging soundscapes that almost trick the listener into believing they're hearing a full band throughout 10 tracks. Aside from select guest solos by Jack Daniels (War of Ages, Hope For The Dying) and Zack Uidl (ex-7 Horns 7 Eyes), the record is purely a one-man effort. More...

Sunburst Out Of ProgPower USA XVIII
ProgPower USA promoter Glenn Harveston announced that Greek power/progressive act Sunburst was dropped from the XVIII roster, due to a VISA issues, in which a particular USCIS agent made an unusual and specific "all-encompassing" request for evidence that was impossible to satisfy in the time left. Harveston also announced that Brazil's Daydream XI will replace Sunburst.
Harveston posted the following announcement: "It is with extreme frustration and disappointment I must announce that Sunburst (Greece) will not be performing at ProgPower USA XVIII. Despite having provided the same type and kind of evidence that has obtained approvals for not only ProgPower USA bands over the last decade, but for well over one hundred other bands submitted by Marc/Play America, one agent at the USCIS (United States Customs & Immigration Services) has deemed our evidence insufficient. Given the all-encompassing breadth of that specific agent's demands (more than ever have been seen by either Marc or myself) in an RFE (Request for Evidence) in our careers, there is literally no hope of satisfying those demands. Sunburst, Marc, & I have all agreed it would be pointless to continue to fight this hopeless battle.
"Rest assured I have every intention of having Sunburst back as soon as possible. They are an amazing band and deserve to be on the ProgPower USA stage. The band is understandably disappointed, but also understand the circumstances cannot be helped.
"I want to calm the fears of those concerned about other bands performing this year. I have already obtained visa approvals for all bands I am specifically responsible for performing on Friday and Saturday. Sunburst was the last band we were waiting on for visa approval. All bands that have been submitted for Wednesday and Thursday so far have also been approved. More...
