Helsott Releases New Video

On the release date of new EP, "The Healer," there’s lots of news this week from the Helsott tribe. First comes a premiere of the band’s new promo video clip, “Astralive,” directed by Sicocis guitarist Rafael Ortega and available below.

“Filming ‘Astralive’ was a very enjoyable experience,” explains vocalist Eric Dow. “Raf was great to work with and Coop and I had fun scouting for a location in Arrowhead. We want to thank Mike Grieg for letting us set up camp.”

“I love how cold the video came out,” adds drummer Cooper Dustman. “It was actually blistering hot that day, we all got sunburns! Finding this remote spot in the mountains was adventurous considering the gps can only show so much. We scouted and shot this within a few days, and we’re proud of the final product.”

Second, Helsott is pleased to announce some upcoming tour dates, including the band’s first trip to Europe. The group will be supporting I Am Morbid (the new band from Morbid Angel’s David Vincent and Tim Yeung playing tracks from the first 4 classic Morbid Angel albums) and death metal legends Necrophagia.

“We have been working so hard to fulfill our goals,” states Eric Dow. “Taking our brand of Pagan Death Metal overseas has always been an ultimate goal for this band and now that we have the opportunity we will take full advantage of it. Europe… Helsott is finally coming! More...

Every Time I Die Releases New Video

After that metallic rite of passage of being banned from the House Of Blues, today the Buffalo-based hardcore band Every Time I Die shares a powerful video for latest single “Map Change.” The track appears on 2016 album "Low Teens," which was nominated for the Alternative Press Music Award for Album of the Year.

The “Map Change” video offers a cinéma vérité look at the hometown of vocalist Keith Buckley, guitarists Andy Williams and Jordan Buckley, drummer Daniel Davison, and bassist Steve Micciche. In creating the video, director Kyle Thrash spent a mid-winter week in Buffalo and emerged with a bleak yet beautiful, Herzog-esque portrait of American despair.

With help from the band, Thrash documented the everyday lives of the city’s locals and found his subjects open to sharing their most intimate moments. As a result, “Map Change” gives an up-close look at life in trailer parks and strip clubs, at butcher shops and Bingo games. Moving from abandoned churches to high school wrestling matches to roadside fistfights with a whiplash urgency, the video captures the dead-of-winter feeling of the world quite possibly coming to an end. Selene Announces New Album

Hailing from Northern Ireland, the symphonic power metal band Selene is set to release second album "The Ravages of Time" on June 23rd.

Since forming in 2013, Selene has previously released two EPs and debut album "The Forgotten," followed by a series of shows across Ireland to support the release, including a main stage appearance at Ireland’s biggest metal festival The Siege of Limerick.

"The Ravages of Time" continues to develop the sound Selene established on that debut release, showcasing the angelic soprano voice of Shonagh Lyons along with epic orchestration and heavy riffs, while also taking a more mature direction that is sure to satisfy fans of bands such as Nightwish, Sonata Arctica, Kamelot and Serenity.

Band founder and main songwriter John Connor had the following to say: "‘Ravages of Time is a much more ambitious release than the first album I think. Stylistically we have gone to more extremes than before, with the album as a whole being faster and heavier than previous releases and leaning more on our Power Metal roots, but on the other side of the scale, there are songs such as ‘This Life’ which is much softer and emotionally driven than any previous songs. We spent a year non-stop working on this release and I don’t think it will disappoint." More...

Motorhead Has Two IPAs Coming

Amplified Ale Works is pleased to announce a newest beer collaboration with none other than Motorhead.

The "Born to Lose" IPA is a boldly aggressive West Coast-style IPA, befitting of the band's loud, aggressive style. The 6.5% IPA is brewed with Cascade, Simcoe and Citra hops that provide an earthy, resinous aroma with notes of fresh citrus.

In an ode to Motorhead''s British roots, the beer was also brewed with Maris Otter, a premium British malt that brings a sweet balance to the beer's bold bitterness.

The limited edition beer will be sold directly from Amplified's two San Diego locations and will also be available for purchase online here for refrigerated shipping throughout California. The can features an original design of band members in a dystopian "Born to Lose" future from LA-based artist Jack Gregory. The follow up beer in the series, "Live to Win" IPA, will be released later this year. More...

Cerebellion Releases "Cold" Video

Southern California’s Cerebellion today releases an official video for the song “Cold," taken from the band's sophomore album “Regeneration."

Besides the song’s seductive groove and dynamic musicality, topically it addresses a serious issue in our current social environment: the over-stimulation of our minds as a result of easy access to information. The video portrays an extreme version of this phenomena…

The video opens with a room engulfed in fire, which quickly cuts to a young man sitting in an empty room watching TV. The music begins with a tight guitar groove followed by a subtle vocal melody. After a brief moment of calm, “Cold” abruptly transitions into a blistering explosion of sound, coincided by images of the young man fixating on what he sees on the screen, which appears to change him in some way. Rage Announces "Seasons Of The Black"

The creativity and productivity of the German heavy metal trio Rage seems to have no limits. Only 14 months after the successful "The Devil Strikes Again" neckbreaker, Rage delivers the new, 23rd studio album called "Seasons Of The Black," which will be released on July 28th!

"Our fans are getting Rage metal of the very first grade. We've been able to bring the band's typical trademarks into eleven new songs, and we're sticking to the course that we forged on the last album! This means hard and very catchy compositions that also sound thrash, aggressive and epic," tells band leader Peavy.

Since the reorientation of 2015, the three band members have now fully adapted to each other and the lost harmony has been fully restored. "We are even better matched with each other," says Peavy happy. "We offer new ideas to each other like we’ve never done something else before! It also happened that we created a whole new song within just two hours from start to finish, from scratch! Regarding the production we were also able to prevent some complications, which had been an element of the last album due to a lack of experience. This time, everything worked perfectly."

Guitarist Marcos Rodriguez and drummer Vassilios "Lucky" Maniatopoulos have been long-time Rage fans from the very beginning. Their input also leaves its mark on their second album. "Marcos and Lucky well know the "classic" style-creating spirit of Rage so to speak, and on a personal level we all really like each other as well. This contributed to the possibility of continuing to develop and expanding the band’s spirit," the vocalist adds. More...

Srednep Takes On Social Media With New Album

Kevin Srednep conceptualized his experimental industrial metal project Srednep in 2013 as a solo studio-based venture. After receiving praise for his 2014 EP, "Silence" - which featured the addition of aggressive, bottom-heavy guitar work by Spineshank guitarist Mike Sarkisyan - Srednep recognized that only way onward was upward.

When writing his brand new sophomore release, "Social Masks," a full-length album focusing on the hypocrisies of humanity, Srednep knew that he and Sarkisyan needed an additional driving force behind the project. Enter drummer extraordinaire Kevin Talley, recognized for his work with artists such as Dying Fetus, Daath, Misery Index, Six Feet Under, Chimaira, Suffocation and many others.

Frontman Kevin Srednep says, "In my eyes, SrednepP needed a new sound and identity, and incorporating real drums instead of electronics was the first step. Of course, Kevin is the perfect go-to guy if you want tight drums on a record, so getting him involved was a no-brainer."

"Social Masks" also features guest vocalists Sean Zatorsky (Sinsaenum, Chimaira, Daath), Ricky Myers (Disgorge, Suffocation, Serpents Whisper) and a few other special guests. The full albums is now online for streaming below.

"This album focuses on social media: the platform doing the opposite of it's supposed intention. People documenting their every step, only for a confirmation. Everyone wants to be heard, but no one wants to fucking listen. We are the parasites devouring our planet. We are the anti-cells who create our own prisons," says Srednep. More...

Wolfbrigade Streams Full New Album

The stark and striking immediacy that defines Wolfbrigade's dbeat, hardcore-crust punk remains evident on incoming album, "Run With The Hunted," which can now be heard in its entirety as the album sees official release today via Southern Lord.

Formed in 1995 initially as Wolfpack, after five years the band ventured into the new millennium as Wolfbrigade. The band has released an impressive volume of LPs and smaller releases, as well as touring widely over the years.

"Run With The Hunted" was recorded in both Studio Fredman in Gothenburg (At the Gates, In Flames, Martyrdöd), by Fredrik Nordström and Henrik Udd, and in Sunlight Studio (Dismember, Entombed, Grave) in Stockholm by Tomas Skogsberg.

About the new album, Wolfbrigade declares: "We looked to explore our rawness, writing straight-up, in-your-face, primitive songs. On this record, we decided to push the melodic strains even further, but without losing either intensity or brutality. Lyrically we have been inspired by both classic and obscure dystopian literature, finding suitably horrible metaphors for the decline of western society. The search for freedom continues, but this time the path is pointed inwards, into ourselves." More...

Noumena Issues "Kirouksen Kantaja" Video

Finnish melodic death metal band Noumena releases the new album ”Myrrys” today, April 28th. The band celebrates the release with an intriguing music video of the doom and gloom track “Kirouksen kantaja” (“The Bearer of the Curse”), which you can check out below.

"In 'Kirouksen kantaja' dreamlike, slow melodies weave landscape over melancholic, downtempo song. Musical themes are given time to develop - in contrast to this hectic world where people's worth is measured by their ability to perform," analyzes guitarist Ville Lamminaho, the writer of the song.

"Lyrically the song is about overcoming obstacles and gathering strength, 'finding the flame inside,' to battle the curses that most people carry, in a form or another."

The music video reveals what kind of duties and incidents a Finnish park ranger faces, when searching for a lost metal bands in the woods. The story carries the audience into the heart of Finnish wilderness and mystery. The video manages to capture and visualize the themes and the atmosphere of “Myrrys”.

Jack of all trades, Jyrki Muromäki came up the idea, directed, filmed and edited the video. He has collaborated with Noumena earlier, with the music video of ”Sleep.”

Decapitated Announces New Album "Anticult"

Polish technical death metal act Decapitated has revealed details of the upcoming seventh album "Anticult," out July 7th via Nuclear Blast. The band has also dropped the new song "Never," which you can check out below. The song is available as an instant grat track for all fans who pre-order the album. Anticult is available for pre-order here:

Limited Silver & Clear Vinyl (inc signed insert)
Limited Digipack CD & Vinyl (inc signed insert)

"Anticult" highlights just how vital Decapitated have remained two decades into a stellar career. Decapitated has long been undeniable masters of the craft and is expanding the parameters with "Anticult," which should elevate the band's profile beyond the death metal realm in which it has dominated for years.

"'Anticult' represents the legacy and future of Decapitated," said guitarist Vogg. "We're extremely proud of the record, in both the song compositions and the production. This is the best representation of our music and we're really excited for the world to hear it!"

The album's massive musical leap forward is evidenced by "Never." It's a song with an incredible bite and retains Decapitated's signature fury. But it's also undeniably catchy and takes up residence in your brain and stays there.

"'Never,' the first track we are showcasing from the record, is fast, it's technical, and most importantly, it's heavy," Vogg commented. "For us, it's what Decapitated is all about… and it will be really fun to play live. Enjoy it!"

Vocalist Rasta weighed in about the subject matter of "Never," offering this insight into the lyrical content: "There is no mystical, doomish fate waiting for us. The only judgement pending is our own. The simple relationship between cause and effect is what determines our future. We are now witnessing something that should never have happened — our homes have become our civilisation's grave."

The band will announce U.S. tour plans shortly.

The album's track list is:

1. Impulse
2. Deathvaluation
3. Kill the Cult
4. One Eyed Nation
5. Anger Line
