The Drowning Releases "Withered" EP Digitally

After much fan pressure over the years, The Drowning has finally made ultra-rare debut EP, "Withered," available digitally through Bandcamp (you can also stream it below).

"Withered" was originally released back in 2005 and represents the earliest steps of the then fledgling band. Guitarist Mike Hitchen still looks back on the recordings with fondness and recognizes the important part the EP played in setting the band on the right road:

“The 'Withered' EP demo was the real beginning for the band. At that time it was just myself and James Moore and we were never really sure how it would turn out - we only put it together just to see if we could make something for ourselves! It was great fun recording it and it was the birth of The Drowning - and that sound can still be heard in our music today.” More...

Doyle Releases New Video

Misfits guitarist Doyle Wolfgang Von Frankenstein has released an official music video for the track "Run For Your Life."

The clip was directed by Brian Cox at Flarelight Films, and is the first single off Doyle's upcoming "As We Die" LP (due out 6/2/2017 via Monsterman Records. Doyle comments:

"I did the guitars when I did the Abominator record. We did two albums at once, actually. We were going to do a double album but there was so much material we just cut the motherfucker in half.

"We were actually done with all the recording during February of 2016, and we were just having a real problem getting the mix right. We mixed for 14 fucking months... I'm out of my mind, man. It's got to be perfect.

"It's your product and you have to make it perfect, 'cause it's forever. It's got to be great. When my favorite artist makes a record and I don't like it, I'm pissed, y'know? I don't want anyone to feel that way about us." More...

Pile of Priests comments on the signing to FIM and upcoming EP: "We here at Pile of Priests are ecstatic to announce that we have begun working with Fatal Illness Management! Over the past month, Eric Dow has been prompt to answer all our questions as well as provide genuine insight of the industry. With full confidence in Eric (New Dad) and the Fatal Illness team, the band can confidently and professionally move forward.

"We like to also add that after our collective introspection of the last release 'Void To Enlightenment,' we knew how we wanted to proceed next and quickly began writing new material. Sunday Old School: Deftones

It's very easy to categorise some bands. One can listen to Obituary for instance and say beyond any shadow of a doubt that they're a death metal band, or turn on a Forbidden song and immediately know that they're listening to thrash. Some groups however, defy definition, whether you love them or hate them. Say what you like, but no one else sounded like System of a Down and there wasn't a band like Primus before or since. Today's featured artists also have a sound instantly recognisable and like the three previously mentioned bands, also hail from California, namely; Deftones.

The seeds of Deftones can be traced to McClatchy High School in Sacramento, where future members Stephen Carpenter, Chino Moreno and Abe Cunningham were students and friends, a relationship which continued into the local skateboarding scene. They began jamming together in Carpenter's garage after Moreno found out that he played guitar, while Cunningham played drums. After a while, they brought in a bassist by the name of Dominic Garcia, who eventually switched to drums after Cunningham left to join Phallucy and as a result, the group found a new bassist named Chi Cheng. By 1993 and following another change in drummer, Cunningham returned to the fold once again, solidifying the familiar lineup of the band. More...
