Interview

UE: "If You Aren't Bleeding You're Doing It Wrong"

Some evolution is coming your way - and I don't mean through Pokemon or natural selection either! This transformation is instead of a rather more uncommon variety, brought about by heavy stoner rock from the rocky mountains and vast plains of Montana.

Freshly signed to Argonauta Records, Uncommon Evolution is gearing up to drop the "Junkyard Jesus" EP at the end of the month (pre-orders are online now).

Ahead of that release, vocalist / guitarist Briar Gillund got in touch with us to discuss everything from beards that are unquestionably majestic-as-fuck to having your wildest musical dreams come true, and we even took a couple little detours into current events and gaming. Read on for the full interview! More...

The Convalescence Kicked Off Otep Tour

Yet another band has run afoul of performing live with Otep on the road.

After that ugliness during the "Civil Unrest" tour a few years back and a handful of instances in the interim, The Convalescence has now been kicked off the "Resistance" tour by Otep.

The Convalescence issued this statement about the situation:

"We will no longer be a part of the remaining dates of 'The Resistance Tour' with Otep. After years spent on the road touring worldwide and never having a problem, this is a first. Otep kicked us off the tour after already loading in for tonight’s event in Pittsburgh. This stemming from an alleged incident that occurred in Michigan two nights previously where claims were made that we sold merchandise during the intro of their set.

"This was not the first time being threatened to remove us from the tour. First happening in Jacksonville, FL after their driver accused us of buying weed from venue staff the night before and went as far as to say we forced a venue runner to drive with him and a kid in the car to pick it up. This was in an attempt to take the heat off the driver himself because he called the police on the band's guitarist after an argument between them that morning.

"In both instances, we were unable to explain or make any attempt to approach the situation since even after 50+ dates as direct support - unless she felt the need to threaten to kick us off the tour and belittle us, we weren’t even allowed in the same room.

"After being told we were not needed on the tour, that we were not helping the attendance, we were simply a time filler and countless other negative comments about us being part of this tour we came to a mutual decision that we could no longer share a stage together.

"We are all about being team players on the road. After going out of our way with things like covering her merch table every night during their set, helping the band with security at understaffed venues, and helping her band and crew load in and out daily. We were met with only disrespect from Otep herself.

"We have no hard feelings towards her hired band and crew but Otep is an absolute nightmare to work with. Again, we apologize to any of our fans that had planned to see us on this tour. Thanks for your continued support and we’ll see you on the road this Fall!" More...

Arch Enemy Reveals "Will To Power" Artwork

Metal powerhouse Arch Enemy is ready to bring a fierce brand of metal to audiences worldwide as the band announces details on the upcoming new album, "Will To Power," which is out September 8th via Century Media Records. The band is excited to reveal the album's captivating cover artwork, as shown below, which was designed by Alex Reisfar.

Guitarist Michael Amott commented on the artwork: "It was a pleasure working with Alex Reisfar on the 'Will to Power' cover artwork, he immediately grasped the concept and atmosphere we were looking for with this album. We talked about the double edged sword that is human ambition, how it can be outstandingly creative and beautiful but can also be turned into something dark and powerful. Alex proceeded to masterfully paint a strong image that evokes a lot of feelings. The human skull as a central focal point, the flesh sort of falling off into the circular pattern. The snake ouroboros weaving in and out of the mouths and throats of the severed heads of a wolf, a goat and a vampire bat... All representing self determination and a predatory, almost parasitic will to power"

Co-produced by Amott and drummer Daniel Erlandsson, the album was sent to long time collaborator and friend Jens Bogren (Opeth, At The Gates, Dimmu Borgir) for mixing and mastering and marks legendary guitarist Jeff Loomis' (Nevermore) first recording with the band.

Following in the steps of the most acclaimed album to date, "War Eternal," which saw the band reach the highest charts in the US and Germany to date, "Will To Power" will continue to smash records worldwide.

While full details and pre-order information on "Will To Power" will be made available in the coming weeks, fans can currently take part in a special campaign which will allow them to sign up and have their name featured in the "Will To Power" Deluxe Box Set Edition.
