About
I started making the transition from rap to metal in 1991 when friends turned me on to Ozzy, Metallica, King Diamond, Suicidal Tendencies. A couple of years later, I began listening to death metal and became a full-blown fan during the mid-nineties, during my early college years. I also discovered black metal and European styles during this time.
I started writing about metal in the early '00s, and published my first articles in 2004. Since then, I've written for several publications including The Gauntlet, Blistering.com, Metalship.org, Metal-Mayhem UK and Metalcentre.com.
I graduated with a Bachelors in Education. I majored in English and minored in History. I spent six years working as a sub, Alternative Ed, Summer School and full-time teacher.
My hobbies include writing, attending concerts, studying martial arts (Sanchin Ryu Karate 4th degree black belt), shooting pool, swimming, partying, reading, watching TV, the Internet, nature, lifting weights and good conversation.
