"Quake Champions" To Enter Beta

Way, way back in '96 before even "Unreal Tournament," id Software released "Quake," a game that put multiplayer FPS death matches on the map and featured a soundtrack by none other than Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails.

Now that classic FPS "Doom" received an updated version last year with a heavy metal soundtrack, "Quake" is also slated for a reboot to be titled "Quake Champions." Based on the trailers released so far, it sounds like we can look forward to another heavy industrial soundtrack and some fast-paced fragging of friends and family!

There's no official release date yet, but a closed Beta is set to begin April 6th, so its a good bet we'll see the game this year and likely sooner rather than later. More...

Ides Of Gemini Posts New Song

Even the haziest of musical entities undergo some process of regeneration between records. Ides Of Gemini is no different, but the journey from 2012 debut "Constantinople" and its formidable follow-up "Old World New Wave" - both released via Neurosis' Neurot Recordings - to brand new studio album "Women," has been a turbulent and challenging one.

Original drummer Kelly Johnston-Gibson incurred a career-threatening injury while on tour in the U.S. in 2015, causing guitarist J. Bennett and vocalist (and then-bassist) Sera Timms to reassess their next move. After enlisting Scott Batiste of Saviours as a stand-in drummer for a short west coast tour, a new alliance was formed and Scott soon became a permanent member.

The band then expanded to a quartet for the first time, as Sera relinquished her bass playing duties to newcomer Adam Murray. "Women" is set for release April 28th via Rise Above Records. The new album is both a dramatic leap forward for these idiosyncratic spirit guides and their most direct and impactful collection of songs to date. More...

The time is now ripe for a new album in 2017: "Black Drapes For Tomorrow." The title leaves no room for misinterpretations; Shores Of Null ius back with a burden of gloom and darkness. The entire recording, mixing, and mastering process has been entrusted once again to Marco Mastrobuono at Kick Recording Studio (Fleshgod Apocalypse, Hour Of Penance). Just For Fun

"The Void" Coming Digitally April 7th

After "The Devil's Candy" last month, another horror movie is about to arrive via Video On Demand streaming services this Friday that will be of particular interest to metal fans.

Featuring Amy Groening from the exceedingly metal TV show "Todd and the Book of Pure Evil" and Ellen Wong ("Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World"), new 80s inspired horror flick "The Void" has left the festival circuit and will be available digitally on April 7th.

Drawing heavily on Lovecraftian lore and with clear nods to "The Thing," "In The Mouth Of Madness," and other classic creature feature flicks, "The Void" focuses on practical effects over CGI and will no doubt inspire a horde of technical death metal albums in the not-too-distant future.

Showcasing the power of fan choice through crowd funding, the movie was funded via IndieGoGo on the strength of a proof-of-concept trailer highlighting practical effects sadly missing from most modern horror flicks.

Check out the latest trailer below and get ready to go mad in just four more days! More...
