Nervecell just checked in with the following statement about the band's current label situation and upcoming album:
"We’d like to clear the air about this as we’ve been getting a lot of questions about whether we’re still with Unique Leader Records for North America. The fact is we’ve left Unique Leader Records for reasons not worth publicly mentioning, as it only creates more speculation.
"It was a decision we made ourselves for the band's best interest. What’s important to us now is that we focus on our new album 'Past, Present…Torture.' It’s completed, sounds absolutely killer and is ready to be released soon. So if there is any U.S. labels / A&R executives reading this or interested to work with us, the door is open and you know where to find us.
"Having said that, we are super excited to be back with our European label home Lifeforce Records who will release 'Past, Present…Torture' for all our European fans this summer. Cheers!" More...

Barrows just issued a trailer from the impending "Obsidion" LP -- including the first bits of audio from the expansive, conceptual album, as well as the immersive artwork -- as Tonzonen Records prepares the 2xLP for its late May release.
The band has also announced the lineups for a month-long live residency at The Echo in Los Angeles for the month of May. Barrows comments: "When we create albums it is much like making a movie for us. Each album is a specific world that we are exploring and none of our albums are interconnected in any way. The new record follows the journey of a man who is taken from Earth and brought to 'Obsidion.'"
New album "Obsidion" was written and performed by Jim Leonard and Richy Epolito, recorded and mixed by Sean Foye, Jim Leonard, and Richy Epolito. The album was mastered by Eroc from Grobschnitt and features starkly abstract artwork and photography by Alexandre Souêtre. The album will be released May 26th, digitally through the band, and on deluxe 2xLP via Tonzonen Records.
Barrows will play live frequently over the coming months in support of "Obsidion," having already booked a solid roster of hometown shows, beginning May 1st as the band opens for Brant Bjork (founding member of Kyuss). The following week, Barrows begins a month-long residency at The Echo, where the band will be playing a free show every Monday of the month with a bill of area bands. More...
Tomer Pink from Subterranean Masquerade just checked in with this update about an impending new full-length release:
"Cleaning my studio for Passover and listening to the new Subterranean Masquerade album. Gotta tell you people, this album is such a rider you going to need a seat belt. Now all we need is a label to put it out :-)"
Subterranean Masquerade's new album will follow 2015 prog metal masterpiece "The Great Bazaar" (reviewed here). While waiting on full details, check out a live video of the band performing "Blanket Of Longing" from that previous release. More...
My Kingdom Music has renewed a record deal with Helfir, and now a new album titled "The Human Defeat" is scheduled for a June 2017 release.
Described as a new interpreter of decadence, after the release of "Still Bleeding" in 2015 and a tour together with Orphand Land, the band led by Luca Mazzotta took a break to concentrate on the song-writing process for this upcoming new release.
"This record bares completely my artistic influences," said Luca Mazzotta, "and gathers all the musical facets of my influences from the most obscure Metal side to the melodic and acoustic one. This time the themes will focus on ambient and, through memories, it tells about the battle between man and nature. When this battle is over what remains will be only a regret and a memory. I am really looking forward to sharing it with you." More...

Alpha Omega Management has a pleasure to announce that two roster bands - the horror metallers from Cadaveria and death / thrash group Node - are now confirmed for Padova Metal Fest,
The fest takes place one August 5th, with Cadaveria booked as the headliner of the evening. Get more information about festival over here or via the tour poster below.
Last week you all got spoiled with double Pit Stories so today we're returning to business as usual with just one tale of the ups and downs of touring.
For today's entry, we've got Magnus Henriksson of Swedish hard rocking crew Eclipse, who explains a bit about the uncertainties of traveling to another country for a festival gig.
Will there be someone to pick you up? Where are you staying? Will someone randomly hit you and then give you a big sloppy kiss? All these questions and more are answered with Magnus' tale:
Most of our funny or tragic tour stories always occur when we play in Italy for some reason. First time we played there with Eclipse, the promoter picked us up 2 hours late after our arrival. Being sleep deprived for having not slept for 24 hours he drove us to a rock pub where we’re forced to be introduced to his friends and watch one of "his" bands ’til 4 o clock in the morning. We just wanted to sleep.
We finally get to our "hotel" in the middle of nowhere. The day after (gig day) we wake up realizing we’re stranded in the middle of nowhere in a roach infested motel without food, water (you don’t wanna drink tap water in Italy) or possibilities to commute downtown. We just have to wait it out ’til something happens.
The promoter is nowhere to be found cuz his phone is shut off. We can’t reach anyone who works for the festival we’re about to play at.
We’re supposed to go on at 20.00.
We’re waiting. The clock is now 19.15.
We assume that there isn't gonna be a gig.
All of sudden a drunk driver in Motörhead t-shirt park his car outside our motel.
Turns out it's our shuttle. We reach the venue 30 min prior to the gig and we still haven't sound checked. The monitor tech (a hot tempered little Italian woman) is waiting for us onstage, shouting ”ECLIPSE!!!!! Where the hell have you been???”
I try to explain: ”Well, we waited for hours but…..” and then WHACK!!!! All of a sudden she hits our singer in the head with a rolled up newspaper! ”You bastards, showing up late!”More...

Los Angeles / London-based band Die So Fluid has released "Bittersweet," the debut single taken from the group's 5th LP, "One Bullet From Paradise." Produced by Drew Richards, "Bittersweet" can be heard below.
"Bittersweet is an alter ego who came to life as I wrote the song" says vocalist Grog. "Part me, part fictional, she embodies all the stuff I like about many of my fave female tv, film and graphic novel characters. She makes a statement about embracing yourself as you are, thorns n all. She’s kick ass but not psycho, sexy and clever, fun and darkly deep. She parties hard and rocks her talents hard." More...

On April 21st, former "That Metal Show" host and comedian Don Jamieson will release his new comedy album, "Communication Breakdown," via Metal Blade Records. Recorded at The Funny Stop in Cuyahoga Falls, OH, the album's title and cover come from Don's Rutgers University senior yearbook photo.
Don explains: "My young nieces and nephews found the photo at my mom's house and starting texting me how funny it was, and when I saw it again after so many years, I agreed! I majored in communication, so it was just a matter of adding the 'Breakdown' to it, which is obviously something you never want to happen in comedy."
He goes on to say, "This album has tons of jokes but really revolves around 4 or 5 longer stories, which is something I've never really done before. I usually just like shot gunning jokes like beers at a frat party, but this time around I tried something a little different. It took a while to develop them for the stage but am really happy with the way they turned out, particularly the track 'Kiefer,' which is a true story about a crazy night with the '24' actor. Other than that, there's a little bit of something for everyone on this disc, and I hope people who buy or steal it enjoy it as much as I do."

Death horde Cocyte turned heads with the "Suffocate Now" demo in 2011, quickly followed by the "New Breath" EP in 2012 and follow-up "Asylum" in 2013.
The Belgian crew is often cited as too death metal to be a deathcore but too deathcore to be death metal... but whatever the name, the end result is always the same: nothing short of devastation.
The band's first full-length album "The Human Disease," mixed by Christian Carvin and mastered by Alan Douches (Carnifex, Suicide Silence, Cannibal Corpse, Nile), will drop June 2nd and is now up for pre-order here.
Guitarist Jimmy Maes comments on the theme running throughout the album: "We were leaning towards the story of humankind, the spirit of man, behaviour, etc. and this album turned into an absolute statement of the situation on earth. 'The Human Disease' is what the man has in its core, a disease.
"During the album you can find a common thread, it's a story following the life of a man who describes many sides of humanity such as the relation between God and himself, the impact of religions on earth, the mental problems and darkest behaviours such as sexual assault, destruction of the land and our own kind, war, consumer society... Finally the story turns to a more positive note as our man finds a refuge in his spirit because our world is no longer worth it, he builds a sanctuary where he is completely satisfied and full of joy. Demonical has officially split with the band's vocalist and now brought on a new band member. The group issued this statement about the situation:
"We have parted with vocalist Sverker Widgren due to various time and priority related matters. As there are always two sides to every story and answers might differ depending on who you ask, we prefer to keep the more detailed reasons amongst the ones involved and not publicly go into further explanations. However, in order to avoid any speculations we can inform you that there is no bad blood between any of us, we want to thank Sverker for all the years in the band and we wish him the very best of luck for the future.
"As the band has always operated under the motto 'only the best is good enough,' we are thrilled to announce that one of Sweden’s premium death metal vocalists, Alexander Högbom (known from acts such as October Tide and Centinex) has joined us as our new permanent commander.
"In order to raise the flames even higher, we can hereby also reveal that after more than two years in Demonical on a session basis, guitarist Eki Kumpulainen and drummer Kennet Englund have both become full-time members of the band.
"With this determined and solid line-up we are very much looking forward to the upcoming Finnish shows next week, the summer tour across Eastern Europe during July as well as the album recording in the autumn. More...
Tygers of Pan Tang have been releasing albums for nearly 40 years. How does a band make it 40 years? Well, I guess they do it for the love, or they’re broke, either way, Robb Weir has managed to present one incarnation after another as Tygers of Pan Tang. He is the driving force, the band founder, and even though he has brought in various members and called them Tygers of Pan Tang, the band has remained truly a product of that moniker.
Yes, 40 years later and Tygers of Pan Tang are still Tygers of Pan Tang, regardless of the lineup. The lineup, in this case, is solid, though. Three of the members have been with the band for over a decade and the remaining two don’t seem to be going anywhere soon. Thus we have the band’s recent creative output, a self-titled album. Why do bands make self-titled albums so late in their career? I guess they do it to show they still have what it takes to put out a good album and call it by a legendary name, in this case, Tygers of Pan Tang.
Tygers of Pan Tang is a legend even though they’ve never been a standout act like Iron Maiden. Without the help of Metallica and Megadeth, many of the second wave of British metal bands, NWOBHM if you will, haven’t gotten much exposure. Still, even without the name recognition of Diamond Head or Iron Maiden, Tygers are able to release a video to over 100,000 raving fans. They’re doing something right. Read on to learn more about Mr. Weir’s latest music under the Tygers of Pan Tang name.
Dawn of Ashes is set to release yet another diabolical musical milestone in the year 2017. Titled "Daemonolatry Gnosis," the band's third full-length album will be released June 9th through Metropolis Records.

Like Dawn of Ashes' previous album "Theophany," this new output was mixed and produced by Mick Kenney of Anaal Nathrakh. The album art was done by Machine Room, and a lyric video for new track "Guardians" can be seen below.
1. The Initiation
2. Gods Of The Antinomian Path
3. Smash Thy Enemies
5. Core Of The Black Sun

Lafayette, LA based group Crypt has released an official music video for debut single, "Death Makes A Holiday." Directed and shot by Alexander Breaux, "Death Makes A Holiday" can be seen below.
Crypt's Andre Noel comments: "The dark reality of major events that took place in the past usually don't show up in your textbooks. Death is so prevalent in history and we have been really intrigued by those events so we decided to write about them.
"Fuck writing about ex-girlfriends and sad shit. We just feel like that's played out. This song and video are about the last public execution in the United States. It was such a major event, people traveled hundreds of miles to witness someone's life end.
"I feel like if that had happened today it would be much different. We just want to show how times have changed in comparison to everything you consume on your phone and TV." More...
