Whores Enters The Studio
Atlanta power trio Whores just entered Parhelion Studios with producer Ryan Boesch (Helmet, Fu Manchu, Melvins) this week to begin work on a new full-length album due out later this year.
"?We've been working on writing an oppressively heavy record for the last few months here in ATL," says frontman Christian Lembach. "I think I've chained together like a thousand fuzz pedals at this point. Our homie who recorded Clean, Ryan Boesch? (Melvins, Helmet, Fu Manchu, Foo Fighters, etc.), will be manning the helm for us again for the new one, and we're SO ready to blast super hard. Tons of crummy Instagram videos to follow!"
The band has also announced its plans to participate in the 2016 Aftershock this October, playing alongside the likes of Tool, Primus, Deafheaven, and Baroness. The band states: "Beyond flattered to be a part of Aftershock Festival this year. Our life partners in Red Fang played last year, and we're super humbled to be a part of this awesome lineup. Surrounding tour dates will be announced soon."
The upcoming (and yet-to-be titled) new effort, will follow 2013's "Clean" LP. Stay tuned for more info. More...
Ketzer Posts Live Footage
German extreme metal outfit Ketzer recently returned from a tour with Primordial and has now released professionally filmed live videos for the songs "When Milk Runs Dry" and "Starless." Both songs taken from latest album, "Starless," which was released earlier this year via Metal Blade Records.
Ketzer comments: "More than a month has passed now since we returned from the tour with Primordial and Svartidaudi, leaving us with some great memories about the time we spent together on the road. But the best moments as a band happen on stage. The clip should give you an impression of how much we enjoy the opportunity to perform our music in front of people coming to the shows. It was filmed by a part of the Metal Blade crew during our performance at the Backstage Club in Munich." More...
Motorowl Signs With Century Media
Motorowl has shared the stage with the likes of Jex Thoth and Path Of Samsara, and toured with Sweden's Bombus before now inking a worldwide deal with Century Media.
New album "Om Generator" will be released through the deal on August 26th, 2016, with more details slated to arrive soon. For now, Century Media comments:
"True talent can be found anywhere: from black metal in China, NWOBHM worship in Peru, to crushing death in Indonesia. However, brilliant psychedelic doom rock that easily competes with today's high international standards from Thuringia, a state in eastern Germany, is still quite a surprising discovery though the region is renowned for its diverse music scene.
"Now, Century Media Records proudly presents the young quintet, Motorowl! Formed in 2014 when most of its band members were not even twenty years old, Motorowl quickly developed a heavy sound blessed with fabulous riffs, great vocal melodies, and a grinding Hammond organ on top. Think Spiritual Beggars or Uriah Heep on a bad acid trip. Think 70's inspired, damn heavy hard rock with a contemporary, gloomy twist.
"Created with pure passion and incredible, mature song-writing skills, the band's debut, 'Om Generator' was co-produced by Fabian Hildebrandt (of label mates Deserted Fear) and the mighty Dan Swanö handling mix and mastering duties." More...

Wino Comments On The Resurgence of The Obsessed
Before Scott “Wino” Weinrich joined doom legends, Saint Vitus, he played with The Obsessed out of his home base in Maryland. The group released three full-length albums of premo doom—“The Obsessed” (1990), “Lunar Womb” (1991) and “The Church Within” (1994). The latter album was released via major label, Columbia Records. Just a year later the group broke up.
The Obsessed was by no means the end of Wino’s story. Including appearing on more Saint Vitus records, he fronted numerous bands such as Place of Skulls, The Hidden Hand, his own solo project, an appearance with Dave Grohl and Lemmy on the Probot album and as part of the super group, Shrinebuilder. After The Obsessed dissolved, Wino formed Spirit Caravan, which contained several songs slated for a The Obsessed album that never surfaced.
Now, over twenty years since the last The Obsessed record, the group is back and contains Dave Sherman (bass) and Brian Costantino of Spirit Caravan. The group signed a deal with Relapse Records, released a demo (“Be The Night”) and has embarked on a major U.S. tour. The group plans to record it’s new album, “Sacred” very soon. Wino was on hand in Austin, Texas to talk about this new album/lineup and also shed some light on major events in the band’s past. More...

Pestifere Releasing "Hope Misery Death"
Eihwaz Recordings is proud to release "Hope Misery Death" by Pestifere on CD and cassette this coming July 15th, 2017. The label comments:
"As lives are led with no thought given to the decay surrounding us, many share in the fault of oligarchs for the ravaging of the Earth. But not everyone is silent - and for those, the raging sounds of Minneapolis, MN’s Pestifere are a fitting rallying cry.
"Astride black/death/thrash riffs riddled with force-fed melody, the angered screams of guitarist/vocalist Lucas Scott confront mankind and its self-serving drive, which destroys the life-giving world we inhabit: 'Vulgar apes, flailing through time and space … Trampling, consuming … Robbing history from those who have no voice.'
"With a somewhat Dissection-style approach tempered by ferocious thrashing reminiscent of Aura Noir, Pestifere levies accusation toward all human structures, like the skyscrapers peppering the band’s own home."
Lucas Scott decries them all as being “monuments to our death… forged on the lifeblood of the earth." More...
Paragon Releasing "Dead Planet"
Portland, Oregon's purveyors of progressive deathcore from Paragon are set to release their debut full-length album, "Dead Planet," on July 22nd, 2016.
"Dead Planet," which combines a foundation of deathcore with a mix of ambience, melodic guitar breaks, and heavy groove oriented riffing, was produced and engineered by the band's own guitarist, Eric Gemme at GemLabs Audio (Extortionist, Navigator, Burdens) in Portland, OR.
While both the band and the album started out as a one man project several years ago, Paragon has since evolved into a full fledged band that is fully prepared to bring the aural assault that is "Dead Planet" to the masses.
Speaking on the band's behalf, Eric comments: "After 4 years of writing, reflecting, and refining, I'm happy to say that 'Dead Planet' will finally be released to the public. This CD was written through the absolute worst and best times of my life, and I think the epic, heavy hitting, and groovy riffs translate well throughout. For the lyrics, We wanted to take a more focused approach - from explaining Earth's position in space and providing different scenes and scenarios on the planet, to our exploration of other places within the universe. We have recently solidified the line-up as a 4-piece, and couldn't be happier to bring these riffs to life on the stage." More...

Jacksonville, Florida-based doom/sludge band Hollow Leg is streaming the track "Coils," which is taken from the "Crown" album being re-released for North American audiences on the 24th of June.
Hollow Leg commented on the track: "'Coils' began as a continuation of a drunken jam during a very private Hollow Leg holiday party back in December 2014. It remained part of the writing process for the album that would become Crown due to its infectious groove and opening riff. With its main lyrical inspiration stemming from the writings of Carl Sagan, the song went through many stages in 2015 but was finally completed and found its place as the second song on the album 'Crown.'"

Metal Bands React To Florida Shooting
Much like after the terrorist attack in Paris at Bataclan, metal bands from around the globe have issued statements in support of the victims of the recent mass shooting in Florida, as well as releasing rainbow-themed merch with profits going towards charities to help the survivors.
The Demoliton Man Tony Dolan, frontman for Venom Inc., has issued the following statement regarding the tragic attack in Orlando at the Pulse night club this weekend:
"Currently we are touring North America again. The diversity of people makes me feel proud to be a citizen of the world in the most amazing countries that have a real pride in who they are and what they stand for! Yet still this terror over religious affiliations exist. We get stopped from playing a shown 'cause we are satanic, but now a murderous spree happens in Florida where innocent people are killed for doing nothing more than being in a land that holds true value on freedom.
"It could be despairing and my heart goes to those dead and their families. Humans create such atrocities but we cannot and must not give in to terror...fear is hiding away....let them feel the wrath of our strength! An eye for an eye...but innocents must not be the target. That would serve to make us like them and WE are more than that." More...

Industrial black metal group Aborym has revealed the first details surrounding upcoming new album "Shifting.negative."

The response to this record has been really, really overwhelming. Beldam Premieres "From Grave To Cradle"
U.S. sludge / black metal outfit Beldam is gearing up to release "Still the Wretched Linger," which drops June 17th, 2016 via Horror Pain Gore Death Productions.
Now just a few days before that release date, we're stoked to be bringing you some slow motion battering from the album!
Check out our exclusive premiere of the disc's fourth track "From Grave To Cradle" below. Beldam also comments:
"'From Grave to Cradle' was one of the first completed songs that the band wrote. When we were writing it, it always had this undertone to it that felt like grieving. We ran with the idea. The lyrics focus on the struggles and mindset of loss for a loved one. It goes on to describe the breakdown and ultimately bargaining for what was lost even at the cost of having the loved one returned to you as this now rotted, bloated being. We had the song focus on a child because there is nothing more relatable to this than bringing a new life into the world then having it swiftly taken away. We felt it matched the tone of the song as a whole."
Pre-orders for "Still The Wretched Linger" can be found right here and the album's track listing is as follows:

2. Blackened Violet
3. The Foundling
