Methra Posts "Hartley's Cult" Video

Following the declaration of the impending release of the "Acolyte" debut LP by Tucson sludge metal lunatics Methra on Independence Day, the cult today releases the album's maiden single. The track lands in the form of a video for "Hartley's Cult," which delves heavily into deep-rooted conspiracy theories.

The rough concept of "Acolyte" is based on persistent online rumors that a cabal of top amplifier manufacturers had Hartley Peavey killed and replaced with a doppelganger in the late '80s to stop the company from collapsing the industry due to low price points on the highest quality original amplifiers in the world.

Exclaims the Methra faction: "'What the heck is Peavey making?' We all know the truth, Hartley Peavey was killed and replaced with a doppelganger in the late 1980s. Witness the dark truth of the resurrection of Hartley's Cult."

Witherscape Goes For Broke On Sophomore Album

I have been eagerly awaiting news of a new Witherscape album ever since "The Inheritance" landed three years back.

It's an album that has more than just grown on me over time - it's easily now one of my favorite music releases period, so it shouldn't come as much surprise that the Dan Swanö-led project was named metal's absolute best newcomer of 2013 in our prestigious year-end awards.

After a brief interlude with an EP that had more covers than new material, we are finally getting a full and proper follow-up album as new studio effort "The Northern Sanctury" is due to drop later this summer.

As with the previous disc, I made sure to check in with Swanö to get as much info as possible on the impending album, which continues the storyline of the creepy house from the band's beginning. Read on to discover the trials and tribulations of birthing this coming monstrosity, which nearly killed Dan in the studio! More...

"This band conjures up 10 tracks of pure blackened necro metal on debut album, 'Orgia Nocturna,' a mix of late 80's and early '90s death fucking evil metal drawing influence from the deadly sounds that chilled your broken spine from the past such as Possessed, Bathory, Morbid(Swe), Sadistic Intent, early-Dissection, (old) Morbid Angel, (old) Death, and other rotting sounds of the dead. Themes of necrophilia, satanic black magic rites, and blood-curdling horror run rampant in an effortless devotion to all that is blasphemous and decayed!" More...

Judas The Dancer Posts Faith No More Cover Video

Italian post-metal quartet Judas The Dancer is proud to release a cover video of Faith No More’s “Digging The Grave,” directed by Eklipse Media. The cover is also featured on the band’s upcoming EP titled "Post Pop Violence."

Asked about the inspiration behind choosing “Digging The Grave,” the band commented: “We chose ‘Digging The Grave’ the day we heard Faith No More‘s ‘Motherfucker’ because we felt it was time to give a tribute to one of the greatest band of all time. About the video, our friend Davide Cilloni (Eklipse Media) was in Italy and he wrote us 'hey, I’m gonna be back in Australia soon… Wanna do some metal together?!' At that time we had no idea or script for any videos and we were still mixing the album so the idea was 'let’s give him total freedom and just enjoy the metal' and so we did…”

The band goes on to say : “Faith No More is one of our biggest inspiration, in music of course as in the mood: the totally did whatever they wanted talking about genre but never forgot to let the people have fun and enjoy the music. Nowadays lots of bands crush their heads against walls trying to be 'interesting,' 'innovative,' or too much complicated and they just forget the point: music is made by the people for the people. Make your own sound, write cool songs but let the people understand you and enjoy your music all together. Faith No More always understood this. Judas The Dancer wants to learn the lesson since time changes, the power of music don’t.“ More...

Lacrimas Profundere Announces New Album

Three years after most recent release "Antiadore," Lacrimas Profundere has gone public with two important pieces of news: the goth rock act just signed with Hanover imprint Oblivion/SPV and isset to present first concept album "Hope Is Here" on August 12th, 2016.

"We've never worked harder and better as a unit. I'm really happy because the album has turned out exactly the way we'd hoped it would; in fact even better," guitarist and founder member Oliver Nikolas Schmid reveals when asked about the three month pre-production phase at the Engine Studios. "Hope Is Here will whisk you away and take you on a journey. A journey deep into a forest, to a boy who lives there, alone, abandoned. Why is he there? What's his name? But that's only the beginning ..."

The new album was produced by Schmid and vocalist Roberto Vitacca and mixed and mastered by Kristian 'Kohle' Kohlmannslehner at the Kohlekeller Studio. The cover artwork was designed by Brazilian artist Elton Fernandes, who also created the "Antiadore" sleeve.

Schmid comments: "Elton has captured the atmosphere of our songs perfectly, almost as if he'd been there when we were writing the material." More...

Halcyon Way Recording Album, Parts With Drummer

Based in Atlanta, Georgia and founded in 2001, Halcyon Way is an excellent example of blue-collar work ethic, self-reliant bootstrapping, and hard work & perseverance in spite of nearly insurmountable odds.

The band has released three albums worldwide through Nightmare Records/Sony RED, and performed in a dozen countries and counting. Currently the band is working on a fifth album and just inked a deal with Alpha Omega Management. The band comments:

“HW are super stoked to be working with Tim and Alex at Alpha Omega and the rest of the crew, and believe that this new partnership will help HW climb up to the next level. We’re hard at work writing the follow up to our 2014 album 'Conquer,' and hope to be in the studio by the end of the summer. We have a few super cool tours in early stages of negotiations, and we hope to make some big announcements on that front soon.”

Alpha Omega Management adds: "We're so thrilled to welcome these hard working guys in Halcyon Way to our family! Their attitude on stage talks a clear language; these guys are here to stay and conquer new frontiers! Stay tuned for next announcements!"

"We are sad to say that we have amicably parted ways with our longtime friend and drummer Ernie Topran, who has been with us for nearly a decade behind the drums. He’s been a huge part of the HW family for a long time, and his unique drumming style helped take our material to the next level. More...

Belphegor Working On Album

After recently being accosted by religious fanatics in Russia, Austria's diabolical extreme metal force Belphegor has been working arduously throughout several rehearsal sessions in Abtenau, Salzburg on new material for a currently-untitled new studio album.

This new album will be the follow-up to 2014’s "Conjuring The Dead" record. Frontman Helmuth states:

"We've just finished the fourth rehearsal session. The process consisted of 13 exhausting, creative days in a row. Nine compositions took form and already sound massive. It's important to me that we get better, tighter, raise the dynamics, and have each musician develop his skills with his instruments to bring our sound to the next level. We've always done our own thing and continue to do so.

"Live ceremonies are still the essence of Belphegor, touring worldwide is our main priority after writing and releasing new musick for our loyal supporters. The new, currently untitled album will be our most obscure and brutal one. It's the first time we've tuned our guitars to H5 and ?#?A6, which is really low, and will add a new touch to our sound. Release date will be in April 2017! We're forever on fire and ready for new challenges. Progress is experimentation and improvement. An honour - this horror." More...
