Ringworm Posts "Shades Of Blue" Video
Cleveland hardcore/thrash heavyweights Ringworm just shared a new music video from forthcoming full-length album "Snake Church." Check out "Shades of Blue" below, and the band also comments:
"Not horror, but more of a twisted love tale that accompanies the song. The story segments of the video where taken from a short film of the same name, 'Shades of Blue.' It's a sequel, a part 2. It picks up where the story told in the 2005 Ringworm video 'Justice Replaced by Revenge' leaves off.
|Surprisingly, the entire project came together quite organically, despite being shot 11 years apart.
We were able to get the same lead actors that we used 11 years ago and we were able to combine the original JRBR (Justice Replaced by Revenge) footage, current footage and secondary footage, (shot later) to tell the second part of the story. The 'Shades' video tells part of that story that is fully revealed in the short film." More...

Maynard James Keenan Autobiography Announced
Last October, in an interview with Rolling Stone, Maynard James Keenan, accomplished winemaker and frontman of Tool, A Perfect Circle, and Puscifer, let on that he was working with writer/editor and longtime friend Sarah Jensen on an authorized biography.
Until now, Keenan’s fans have had access to only an abridged version of his story. That all will change with the release of "A Perfect Union of Contrary Things" (Nov. 8, 2016, Backbeat Books, $29.99).
As Keenan explained to Rolling Stone, “There's always that perception that whatever you've done that's the largest media-friendly thing in your life, where the world came to know of you, there's a perception that there was no life before, and that you were nothing before. There's a lot of stuff that went on in my life that nobody really knows about. So I feel like this is the chance to show the patterns, tell a story.”
Jensen, who has known Keenan for three decades, rolls out that untold story chronicling his journey from his Midwest childhood to his years in the Army to his time in art school, from his stint at a Boston pet shop to his place in the international spotlight and his influence on the disparate fields of contemporary music and regional winemaking.
"A Perfect Union of Contrary Things" presents the outtakes, the scenes of disappointment and triumph, and the events that led him to take one step after the next, to change direction, to explore sometimes surprising opportunities. The book also features a foreword by Alex Grey, an American artist and longtime friend of Keenan. More...

Fistula Posts NSFW Video
With the release of "Longing For Infection," the impending new full-length from Ohio's favorite misery makers Fistula, now less than a month away, today the band shares a graphic visual accompaniment to "Morgue Attendant."
"I feel that the music of Fistula is at its best when we're at our worst," confides frontman Dan Harrington. "After the whole Northern Aggression/Vermin Prolificus lineup imploded, Corey [Bing] and I were in a tough spot. Corey enlisted long-time friend Buddy Peel and Jeff Sullivan to join on bass and drums respectively, 'Morgue Attendant' was the first song they arranged together. Inspired by a ton of shitty Akron weed and watching Maximum Overdive, the song came together quick. Around this time, this total deviant in Cincinnati had admitted to raping hundreds of corpses over his sixteen-year career in the morgue. Crack binges? Malt liquor? Necrophilia? This guy had to be the subject of a Fistula song." More...

Oni Posts "Eternal Recurrence" Video
"Eternal Recurrence" soars as Oni's first of several planned singles cut from upcoming full-length album, "Ironshore," scheduled to hit stores this fall.
Today marks the release of a new music video for "Eternal Recurrence," which can be seen below. Directed by Abraham Roofeh and filmed in vocalist Jake Oni's home locale of the Cayman Islands, the video depicts a man running from a mysterious masked assailant - but is this assailant really a stranger?
Oni frontman Jake Oni states, "It was a pleasure filming the video in the Cayman Islands. It's very convenient working from home, although the performance was brutal at times. When the guys and myself were done filming, we couldn't even walk the next day! After headbanging for what felt like an eternity, there was nothing better than laying on the ground!
"When we first saw the treatment for the video, it was hard to imagine how it would turn out, however it exceeded all of our expectations. The sunny island felt more dystopian than anything else and our director captured the meaning of the song and the look of the band perfectly. Overall, it was a blast to work on and I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!" More...

Denner / Shermann Releases New Video
Denner / Shermann has released a new video for the track "Son Of Satan," taken from the group's upcoming album, "Masters Of Evil," which is due out June 24th via Metal Blade Records.
The video was filmed, directed and edited by Owe Lingvall, animated by Konstantin Smirnov, and shot at Studio 1646 in Umea, Sweden. Based loosely on the movie "The Omen," the song and video deliver an ominous dose of heavy metal music and imagery.
"We chose this song to be the first video because musically, it is a song that really captures the entire essence of what this band is becoming," Michael Denner comments. "The lyrics are also very vivid, and it fills your imagination with dark, sinister images and visions that Swedish director Owe captured perfectly."
"Shooting this video was a great time, and I felt that all of us being together there, bonding as a band during the filming process, was important and something I will always remember," adds vocalist Sean Peck. More...
Black Absinthe Posts "Now" Video
Toronto, ON heavy metal trio Black Absinthe surfaced from the basement to unleash debut album "Early Signs of Denial" last month. Today the band is proud to premiere a video for "Now," which can be seen below.
Black Absinthe comments on the video: "The main idea behind ‘Now’ is about taking advantage of a moment you’ve anticipated for so long, of choosing action over caution. Within the track there’s a shift between the softer more contemplative chorus and the upfront in your face verses.
"The structure of the song aims to build on that theme of anticipation and impending action. This build ultimately boils over into a killer solo section that sounds like you’re behind the wheel during a high speed car chase. For the video we enlisted the help of Frank Gryner (who had done the mixing and mastering of the album) who came through with a great product.
"There’s an almost found footage vibe to a lot of the band shots we were really digging. The close-ups of Jack’s fretboard have this really interesting vibe to them. Rather than the smooth movement you get from a modern camera it looks like certain frames have been removed making it look like you’re flipping through a piece of animation. Having those shots of the road and oncoming traffic at night with all the lights speeding towards you captures the theme of the song. Here’s a light, a moment, speeding by you and it’s gone so soon. Contrast that with the shots of the band with that single light on the floor playing the song. ‘Now’ is a moment in time for Black Absinthe, another step on our journey as musicians. The next hurdle is always around the corner so meet it face on!" More...

Titled "Paramnesia," the seven-track offering was engineered and produced by Craig Peters at Carnivale Nocturno Studios with all mixing and mastering handled by Zack Ohren (Deeds of Flesh, Arkaik, Suffocation et al) at Castle Ultimate Productions.

"'Paramnesia,' while not a concept album, plays off of different themes related to perception and how we are effected by the world around us. The three-part song 'Beyond The Dark Veil' also deals with the emotional effect of death from three different perspectives."
