Usurpress Releasing New Album

Sweden's doom/crust/prog-infused death metal band Usupresss set to release a brand new album titled "The Regal Tribe" on September 23rd via Agonia Records.

The album's cover artwork was created by renowned Dutch artist Marald van Haasteren (Bolt Thrower, High on Fire, Baroness, Kylesa) who was given a carte blanche with regards to the visual interpretation of the album’s lyrical concept. "The Regal Tribe" was recorded under the supervision of rising star producer Lawrence Mackrory (FKÜ, Darkane).

"The Regal Tribe" is the follow-up album to "Ordained" (2014), which saw Usurpress leave the band's deathcrust path for more uncharted territories. During the composing of the new album, the group was plagued by mental disorders/depressions and life threatening illnesses in the member’s immediate families, most notably vocalist/lyricist Stefan Pettersson’s battle with his bone marrow cancer.

Therefore "The Regal Tribe" is a heavier and darker, yet more varied, complex and thoughtful effort than their previous albums. This concept release is a tragic story about life versus death, about vanity and the relentless passing of time and is by far Usurpress’ most ambitious output to date. More...

Kohti Tuhoa Signs With Southern Lord

Southern Lord today confirms the impending release of the blazing "Rutiinin Orja" debut album from incendiary Helsinki hardcore punk band, Kohti Tuhoa. The label commetns:

"There's no time wasted in Kohti Tuhoa's new record as it speeds past in under twenty minutes. Irresistible pogo beats and pit parts pile on top of each other with reckless abandon, and thick waves of drum rolls provide a dangerous velocity over which Discharge-influenced guitars chug and wail.

"Helena's wide ranging vocals delivered in the band's native language are unmistakable and intimidating even to non-Finnish natives, layered up an intense degree and teetering between fearsome and fascinating. Recognizable traits of other bands, such as the Japanese masters of noise d-beat attack, Framtid, and Hispanic kings of the fast 'n' angry, Los Crudos, find their way in to the Kohti TuhoaA sound, while fans of Oakland's Rad and Chile/Austria's Ruidosa Immundicia will have an instant infatuation with the sheer might of Rutiinin Orja.

"Punk bible Maximum Rocknroll is already shouting their name, and you are well advised to hear the furious sounds of Finnish hardcore punk at its current best - barbed, destructive and viciously catchy."

Southern Lord will release "Rutiinin Orja" on 29th July, releasing it on digital, LP, and CD formats, the latter of which also containing the band's previously-released 7". Stand by for further updates, audio samples, and more in the coming weeks. More...

John Boecklin Announces New Band I Of Tongues

Drummer John Boecklin (ex-Devildriver) has announced the name of his new project, I of Tongues, and has entered Audio Hammer Studios in Sanford Florida with acclaimed producer Mark Lewis (Whitechapel, Black Dahlia Murder, Cannibal Corpse).

Boecklin states: "I've been working on this music a little over a year with guitarist Max Karon. My main focus in the beginning was to not repeat myself musically with a Devildriver part 2. To me, the band is musically and vocally more adventurous. More singing than screaming and more technical than straight forward. It feels great to put this together and come back with something that turned out so unique. Can't wait to release stuff, but in the meantime here is a teaser with some demo stuff we did before entering the studio."

More news and new tunes to following in the coming weeks. For now, check out a demo teaser trailer below. More...

Apothesary Releasing New EP

June 24th marks the release of the brand new EP, "Sensory Overload," from Nor Cal’s Apothesary. This young band, average age 21, started making music as 14-year-old friends blending their influences into something they could call their own.

Instead of just hanging out in the garage and dreaming about the possibilities, these teens started releasing independent CDs and touring the country on DIY-booked tours including shows with Killswitch Engage, Dark Tranquillity, Fear Factory, Dying Fetus, Helloween, Suffocation, Warbringer and As I Lay Dying.

Now 7 years later, Apothesary is ready to join the bigger leagues. Having the solid, original core of guitarist vocalist Jared Eandi, drummer Gregg O’Neil and guitar player Clayton Cagle (also of Bay Area thrashers Hatchet) along with new bassist Brittany Shankle, the quartet will hit the road again this summer, including dates opening for American Head Charge, Motograter and Psycroptic. In combination comes a new EP as well.

"We're beyond excited to announce our signing to M-Theory Audio! Finally, 'Sensory Overload' will see the light of day through this fabulous partnership,” states guitarist Clayton Cagle. “I've known Marco since Apothesary's Myspace days where I first asked him for feedback on our oldest material. Fast forward seven years, and he's given us advice on everything from how to get good promo, to touring contacts, to even helping orchestrate me playing in Hacher. It's crazy to think that this relationship has come as far as M-Theory releasing our music - and Apothesary couldn't be happier about it!" More...

Seek Irony Re-Releasing "Tech N' Roll"

After witnessing the original release of what most consider Tel Aviv-native (and now Austin-local) electronic rock band Seek Irony's breakout album, "Tech N' Roll," UDR Music has signed on to re-release that album in its full glory on July 29th, 2016.

Upon its initial release, "Tech N' Roll" became a raging success in underground rock communities internationally, chock full of loud, live and explosive musical energy. Lyrically, the album touches upon topics ranging from technological influences on society and foreign politics, but doesn't forget to have fun with fan-favorite anthems.

"The music is a process that we all contribute together, some songs are more guitar based in their nature, some are more electronica based," says founding member and vocalist Kfir. "Lyrical topics vary. Some are political, like 'Ravelution (Push)' for example, which was inspired by an Israeli-Palestinian youth leadership program that I was invited to attend as an Israeli activist artist, which brought together youth leaders from both sides of the border. (Then) 'Running Towards The End Of The World' discusses social media and technology and how it affects all of us in this day and age. Some are very deep and meaningful and some are kinda silly like 'Tech N' Roll' which simply describes what Seek Irony's music is really about - the combination of Techno (EDM) and Rock N' Roll."

The track listing is as follows:

1. She
2. Tech N'Roll
3. Devil In Me
4. Skin2Skin
5. When You Lie
6. Running Towards The End Of The World
7. Low
8. Peel Me Away
9. Rave-o-lution

"Our generation is pretty desensitized by sex, with it so readily available at our fingertips. And while we believe it's important to express ourselves sexually, there are many of us who do not know the dark treatment and situations girls endure when entering - and leaving - the adult entertainment industry," states vocalist/drummer Donovan Melero.

He goes on to say, "I hope that this song helps to provoke thought on how x-rated films portray women, and how it affects their lives on and off screen, as well as how we, the general population, perceive women because of these videos. I would venture to say it truly ISN’T as it seems on camera." More...
