Beansidhe Releasing "Mont"
On July 28th, Via Nocturna will release "Mont," the stunning new album by Swiss extreme metal band Beansidhe. The label comments:
"While the band's sound is firmly rooted in death metal, it also contains elements of thrash and even black metal at times. Established in 1999, Switzerland’s Beansidhe has delivered in 2016 its third manifestation 'Mónt.' The album is a dedication to the païsans who inhabited our mountains centuries ago.
"The lyrics – sang in our typical dialect – explore the inner feelings of solitary men, touch on the wonders of nature, and deal with concepts of man’s spiritual elevation to deity. 'Mónt' is a long step forward from the previous works of the band, which while being musically valid probably lacked originality and self-awareness.
"Beansidhe has in the past few years dedicated itself almost completely to the creative side of making music, while specifically disregarding live shows. It is the opinion of the individuals behind Beansidhe that their music is better appreciated in a quiet setting and in deep reverie."
Recorded and mixed at Stairway Studio, Switzerland, by Ste Scenin, the album's track listing is as follows:
1. Mónt - 00:48
2. Spazi - 07:22
3. Mòrt - 06:21
4. Féras - 08:01
5. Febraar - 06:58

Wolf Hoffmann Discusses Missing Track
Wolf Hoffmann is going to see the release of his new solo album, “Headbangers Symphony,” twenty years after his first solo release, “Classical.”
Metal Shock Finland's Mohsen Fayazi recently conducted an interview with Wolf where he surprised the fans with two pieces of news. Some excerpts can be read below. When asked about the personnel who were involved, Wolf revealed a tragic surprise:
Devin Townsend played a bass track for me. Unfortunately, that track did not even make it onto the album yet because there were some legal issues. It’s a great track which broke my heart that we couldn’t make it on the album, we will release it soon. It’s Romeo and Juliet, by Prokofiev, it’s ‘Dance Of The Knights’, it’s almost one of my favourites and Devin Townsend played an amazing bass track on it.
The problem is that the author has only been dead 68 or close to 70 years, something like that, so it’s not quite over the limit of where it becomes public domain. So, instead of taking any chances, the label decided to ask for permission and the permission never came, because it was dragging on and on and on. And in the meantime they decided we have to go ahead and release the album without the track. And now of course we got the permission from the family to use it, but it’s too late now, the album’s already printed.
The song turned out really good and so it’s too bad it didn’t make it – it fit on there really well, it rounded it off even more. But hey, it is what it is and sometimes you gotta move on and suck it up, what else can you do.More...

"A Decade Of Dio" CD / Vinyl Set Announced
Ronnie James Dio's sinister howl and wicked songcraft bewitched hard rock fans in the seventies and eighties during his memorable stints with Elf, Rainbow and Black Sabbath. In 1983, the singer formed his own band, launching a successful solo career that led to 10 studio albums and sales of more than 10 million records around the world.
Earlier this month, it was announced that Rhino would release a new boxed set, "A Decade Of Dio: 1983-1993," that brings together Dio's first six studio albums - each one featuring newly remastered sound. It includes: "Holy Diver" (1983), "The Last In Line" (1984), "Sacred Heart" (1985), "Dream Evil" (1987), "Lock Up The Wolves," (1990) and "Strange Highways" (1993).
The CD set will hit stores on July 22nd, 2016 for a list price of $34.98. The vinyl incarnation of the set will be available on October 4, 2016 for $99.98, and comes with a bonus 7" single.
On the first side is the 1983 version of "Evil Eyes," which was originally released as the b-side on the "Holy Diver" single. In addition, this version is different from the one featured on the 1984 album "The Last In Line.| The flip side features "Time To Burn," which was the only studio track featured on the otherwise live release, Intermission (1986).
Although Ronnie James Dio lost his battle with stomach cancer in 2010, his towering voice and legacy live on. The Ronnie James Dio Stand Up and Shout Cancer Fund, co-founded by Wendy Dio, is a non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable fund dedicated to supporting cancer-prevention research, raising awareness and educating the public about the vital importance of early detection and prevention when dealing with this deadly disease. Van Halst Posts New Video
One of the most important efforts vocalist Kami of Canada's Van Halst emphasizes is a strong message of socially conscious lyrics - inspiring listeners and fans to be informed and ready to take action on various topics ranging from female empowerment, body image, education, rape culture, poverty, domestic violence and more.
With that message in mind, check out the band's latest video "Questions" in support of new album "World of Make Believe."

This song deals with victim blaming and how the victims of sexual assault are often criticized and blamed for putting themselves in a vulnerable position, which allowed them to be abused or exploited." Kami Van Halst, "This is wrong, we should not be blaming or scrutinizing the victims of abuse. We need to remove the stigma and put the blame where it rightly belongs - on the abuser.”

Forty Winters Posts "Summoning Spirits"
South Florida heavy metal outfit Forty Winters has announced a July 22nd release date for sophomore album "Rotting Empire," coming via Dead Truth Recordings.
Today, the band has released first single and opening track, "Summoning Spirits," in the form of a lyric video created by acclaimed animator/music video director Scott Rudd (Fear Factory, Thy Art is Murder, Job for a Cowboy).
Forty Winters vocalist Xavier Vicuna comments: "Welcome to the year of Rot! With each release we got more comfortable in our own skin and more willing to take chances, which leads us to Rotting Empire. You can expect the signature FW sound with more of a modern approach, better song structure, as well as more grit and tenacity. It's pissed, and it's real. Some unexpected and unplanned touring pushed the release back quite a bit, but we were able to play new songs and hype the impending album so it was well worth it. We always had a vision for our sophomore album, this is it."
With regards to the first track, he adds: "'Summoning Spirits' is a great representation of what people can expect from Rotting Empire. It's the first single and the opening track of the album. We recorded the album in the order of the track list, it all just felt right."
