Disma Parts With Drummer

Drummer Shawn Eldridge from Disma just issued the following announcement about deciding to quit the band:

"Unbeknownst to me, I've apparently 'quit the band, because I'm sick,' and certain members have been actively seeking a replacement.

"As some are aware (though most are not), I've been experiencing and seeking treatment for nerve damage that has resulted from past cancer treatments. This, as could be imagined, has moments that affect not only daily life, but my ability to play drums as well.

"Despite these setbacks, I've managed to continue recording and performing with Disma, as well as the other groups I'm involved in.

"That being said, various drummers have been asked to join (without having ever been discussed with me), under the implied notion that I've quit the band, which is in fact not true. Well, it can now be said truthfully that I've quit the band.

"Now with all niceties aside - a firm 'Go Fuck Yourself' to those who lack the patience and understanding I needed during these times, and a sincere thank you to those who have continuously shown their support and true friendship." More...

Dark Suns Posts New Song

German progressive metal band Dark Suns will release a fifth studio effort, the double album "Everchild," on June 3rd via Prophecy Productions.

Recorded in Berlin's Funkhaus Studios (Europe's largest studio complex) with producer Yensin Jahn (Alice Cooper, Yo La Tengo), the album follows 2011's "Orange." In celebration of the upcoming record's release, today new song "Spiders" comes online and can be heard below.

“As well as being the second track on the album, ‘Spiders’ was also the second track we wrote during the songwriting process. It resulted mainly from the idea to combine a teenage pioneering spirit with urban melancholy," says vocalist Niko Knappe.

He goes on to say, "It tells about a young person’s departure. A group of teenagers in a state of eagerness and wanderlust, waiting for a friend to set out and break away from the parental home. ‘Push the spiders downhill’ is how the lyrics end, and stands for conquering fears and overcoming obstacles. We like the playful ease of the verses and how the song merges into the stomping brass parts and chorus lines, followed by a boisterously outro part.” More...

Vow Of Thorns Announces "Farewell To The Sun"

What once served as an anagram for Kevin Hawthorne’s solo work is now a joint effort with Dustin Richards. Their new album "Farewell To The Sun" is set for release on July 15th, 2016 and follows the 2013 EP "Forest Dweller."

Check out the album's opening track "Meeting On The Astral Plane" below. Guitarist D. Richards comments:

"'Meeting on the Astral Plane' tells the story of one man’s escape from physical reality to a place of infinite possibilities; an existence free of mortal boundaries. The escape, however, is only temporary and he must return to his lowly existence and face himself, which he does in the following track 'Great Abomination'.

"His experience on the astral plane leads him to believe that death may be the ultimate escape. As our protagonist’s experience progresses so does the music. From the triumphant march of the opening riff to the crushing doom encased ending." More...

Faith No More Re-Releasing "We Care A Lot"

Faith No More’s landmark debut, "We Care A Lot," which was initially released in 1985 and has been out of print for 20 years, now sees an August 19th reissue via Bill Gould’s Koolarrow Records.

“This was an album that started as a demo, before any label had any interest in us,” explained Faith No More bass player Bill Gould. “There were a couple of reasons we decided to release this now: first of all, it’s been 20 years since it has been commercially available. Secondly, when cleaning out my basement, I discovered the original master reels, and we all thought that resurrecting this from the original tapes would be a great way to reintroduce We Care A Lot into the world. Lastly, this has been a band effort; we are releasing this in the same way as we recorded it, deciding everything amongst ourselves and getting our hands deep into the nuts and bolts… just like we used to.”

The original 10-song album, remastered by Maor Appelbaum via the original reels, is enhanced with nine bonus tracks including demo versions (taken from the original 8-track tapes) of “Greed,” “Mark Bowen,” “Arabian Disco” and “Intro,” live versions of “The Jungle” and “New Beginnings” and new mixes, via Matt Wallace, of “We Care A Lot,” “Pills for Breakfast” and “As The Worm Turns.”

Liner notes from keyboard player Roddy Bottum and behind-the-scenes photos will be included with the physical release. "We Care A Lot (Deluxe Band Edition): is available now for pre-order right here. More...

Alestorm Signs Contract In Rum

The pirate metal band Alestorm just announced a worldwide re-signing with Napalm Records and the group inked this contract in blood... OK they decided to use rum instead. Alestorm comments:

"AHOY! After 8 years, 4 albums, 1 live DVD, an EP and a couple of singles, it is my great pleasure to announce that Alestorm will be re-signing our record contract with Napalm Records. Seven years ago I was standing naked in the middle of a field at Summer Nights Festival in Austria, screaming at Thomas Caser (CEO of Napalm Records), demanding more money.

"Now here we are today... looks like our plan worked! Being pirates, we had to sign the contract using rum as ink, nothing else would do! Unfortunately we only had white rum left (all the good stuff had already been drunk), so our signatures are invisible. We'll leave that one to the lawyers to sort out.

"Expect the 5th Alestorm album to be released on Napalm Records in 2017! We're taking our time with this one, and it's gonna be good. Maybe... Cheers!"

Napalm Records A&R Nadir Amrioui states: "We are more than proud of Alestorm and their remarkable success! 8 years ago we've received this strange demo CD of an even stranger pirate-metal-band. That was the beginning of a piratic journey all over the world. We at Napalm are so much looking forward to the next album. This is going to be awesome. It surely is!" More...
