Profaner Wins Wacken Metal Battle Canada 2016

The Wacken Metal Battle Canada 2016 edition saw over 100 bands from across the country compete for the title of "One Band To Rule Them All."

This past Saturday, June 11th in Toronto at The Opera House, the country's top five bands, Vancouver's The Mountain Man (BC Winner), Edmonton's Tales of The Tomb (Prairie Winner), Hamilton's Profaner and Toronto's Pyramid Theorem (Ontario Winners) plus Montreal's DistortHead (Quebec Winner) shredded their blood, sweat and metal for one to be crowned this year's champion.

After strong performances, the judges panel of Noel Peters (Inertia Entertainment), Sarah Lutz (Metal Blade Canada), Darryl Hurs (Indie Week), Chris Gonda (PureGrainAudio.com), Tim Henderson (Bravewords.com), Andrew Epstein (Zombitrol Productions) and Glenn Fricker (Spectre Media Group) proclaimed Profaner the 2016 champion.

Profaner joins the ranks of previous national winners Vesperia (2015), Mutank (2014) and Crimson Shadows (2013).

WMBC organizer JJ Tartaglia comments: "After a close and epic battle our national champion that is Profaner has been yielded. We will be proud to showcase their brand of melodic death/thrash on behalf of Canadian metal to the holy fields of Wacken."

PROFANER will now move on to perform at the international battle at Wacken Open Air taking place from August 4-6 to represent Canada among 30 other participating countries.
