Pig Destroyer Confirm New Album for 2017

I've been a fan of Pig Destroyer since Terrifyer back in the mid-2000s which I got into after looking up who played in Anal Cunt and from there into Scott Hull's other band Agoraphobic Nosebleed. His riffs are always amazing. His production never ceases to sound perfect. So I'll confess that I still occasionally get star struck although I manage to hide it a lot better than I did at 21.

Sadly, I never saw them live until now since Pig Destroyer only tour once ever few years but this time, I was thankfully able to attend. So without further adieu, here's my interview with JR Hayes and Scott Hull. More...

Overkill And Vader Lay Waste To Bristol

It truly is wonderful that so many of the old guard of thrash metal are still going strong. Even better, it's especially wonderful that Overkill are still around, stronger than ever and representing the genre perhaps better than anyone else. This month, the band embarked on their most extensive tour of the United Kingdom yet, bringing along two stellar groups including one of Europe's most beloved death metal veterans, Vader and the multinational progressive thrash outfit, One Machine.

There was barely any time for the audience to digest what they were about to see, as due to a noise level curfew, One Machine were still finishing up their sound check, before launching into their set without warning, made ironic by the opening number, "Forewarning" from their new album, "The Final Cull." It's a solid opener from a band with enormous stage presence, led by vocalist Chris Hawkins, whose combination of David Lee Roth style theatrics, humour and vocal prowess makes for a classic example of a heavy metal frontman. One Machine has an extremely crushing live sound that makes the music sound much more immersive than in the studio and though their set was a short one, consisting only of five songs, they certainly made an impact, winning new fans and providing an exhilarating start to the evening. As Days Fade Announces New EP

From a need to share their story comes As Days Fade - a metal quintet from Queens that thrives on melodic riffs and a drive to defy expectation.

A brand new EP, titled "Resurrection," is set for release on June 3rd, 2016. According to the band, "Resurrection" is crucial in the next step towards sonic revolution:

"This release is titled 'Resurrection' because it's the band's awakening after a year or so hiatus from losing our old drummer. Him quitting the band was a shock to us. Some of these songs on this release were either in the process of being written when he was around or after he left, and the 3 of us worked on new and old riffs, not really knowing if these songs were to see the light of day.

"We became more passionate and interested as the songs started to come together more and more. As they did, Chris and Rush joined the band to complete these 4 songs to what they are today. So hence forth, 'Resurrection' represents a new day, a new chapter, a new era to the band As Days Fade."

1. I Don't Want You

Six Feet Under Announces New "Graveyard Classics"

On May 27th, Six Feet Under will release the fourth installment of the "Graveyard Classics" series, this time paying tribute to two of metal's most heralded legends: Iron Maiden and Judas Priest!

Entitled "Graveyard Classics IV: The Number of the Priest" and mixed by Jesse Kirkbride at Kirkbride Recordings in Cape Coral, FL, the album is comprised of five Judas Priest covers (side A), and six Iron Maiden covers (side B), handpicked by Metal Blade Records CEO Brian Slagel.

For a first preview, the cover version of "Invader" is now streaming below. In regards to this new serving of death metal tributes, Six Feet Under founder Chris Barnes comments:

"Get ready to have your ears violated and your mind blown! 'Graveyard Classics IV: The Number of the Priest' just crawled out of the Heavy Metal Cemetery! Having a good time playing music is what it's always been about since day one, and that's what the 'Graveyard Classics' albums are to me... a good fucking time! On this trip down memory lane, we cover songs from Judas Priest and Iron Maiden; the two greatest metal bands of all time. Ray Alder from Fates Warning did a guest background vocal appearance on 'Invader', our first single. Ray is a great friend, and an awesome vocalist, and I felt our differences in styles blended well together for the middle section and added some harmony to the rawness. I hope you all enjoy the band's twist on these legendary songs!" More...

Celestial Ruin Posts "Sense Of Exile" Clip

Combining a heavenly destruction of heavy riffs with beautiful melodies, Vancouver's European-influenced symphonic metal band Celestial Ruin creates catchy, singable and epic tunes that draw on lyrical themes of fantasy and horror.

New EP "Pandora" is set for release on May 20th to follow 2012 debut album "The Awakening." Today a new single comes online - check out the lyric video for "Sense Of Exile" below.

Vocalist Larissa Dawn comments on the track: "The concept of 'Sense of Exile' is hopefully a relatable one, it's about making a life altering decision based on the needs and wants of others . Completely ignoring your own gut instinct and later recognizing that the choice you made has all kinds of negative repercussions. The sound and feel of this song may be high energy, but the lyrics and emotions behind it are that of anger, regret and despair. I'm sure many of us feel these mixed emotions frequently, so I am hoping the power behind the music allows people to just let out all their frustration and after think, 'I feel a lot better now.'"

Digital and CD pre-order of the EP will be available as of April 22nd on iTunes and CD at this location. The full track listing is as follows:

1. Murder of Crows (3:52)
2. Sense of Exile (4:17)
3. No Quarter (4:34)
4. Nevermore (5:55)
5. Firestorm (4:53) More...

Across The Burning Sky Signs With MDD

The Nordic melodic death metal group Across The Burning Sky will release an upcoming album this autumn via MDD Records.

There is almost no information available on who exactly is behind Across The Burning Sky, but according to the band "they have been in the business for around 20 years, being active in several bands and projects. Maybe you know them. Maybe not. They do not care about names, because it's not about persons - it's about music!“

MDD Records comments: "Everyone who already listened to the early rough demo snippets, which have been published in late 2014 for the first time, can only agree. 'Melodic death metal as melodic death metal can be' describes best what you can expect from them. All that Across The Burning Sky do and all they want to do, is to play the music they love. Music as a tribute to the melodic death metal that conquered the world in the late Nineties, emerging from Gothenburg. The album certainly promises to be a highlight, which will excite fans of this genre." More...
