Helstar Releases New Single

The heavy metal monsters from Helstar have released their new single "Black Cathedral" via Megadeth bassist David Ellefson’s EMP Underground label. The single is now available through iTunes here.

Comments Helstar Frontman and vocalist, James Rivera: "As my late great father use to say. 'Better Days are coming!' So here you go my blood thirsty friends! The new single you have been waiting for. This is just the beginning of the new Vampiric race we will establish!!"

The new single “Black Cathedral” is taken from the band’s upcoming album “Vampiro,” another opus of tales of Dracula and other vampires like the band’s 1989 release “Nosferatu” (produced and mixed by Bill Metoyer). “Vampiro” – to be released in the coming months via EMP Underground – was again mixed by Bill Metoyer, and will certainly prove to the world that there is much much more left in these Texas metal legends.

Melechesh Discusses Music, Racism And More

Melechesh are truly a law unto themselves. Not just as a band of renegades, led by the charismatic frontman Ashmedi, but also as a musical force, bringing in melodies from the near and middle east to their ferocious brand of black metal. Their debut, "As Jerusalem Burns...Al'Intisar," hit the shelves in 1996 and the band has continued to tear down musical limitations and social barriers since, most recently with their incredible album, "Enki," which was released last year.

At a recent show with Nile and Embryo in Bristol (read the review here) I was able to sit down and discuss the band's music, the struggle against racism and religious oppression and much more, with guitarist and vocalist, Ashmedi. You can watch the interview below. More...

At a recent show with Melechesh and Embryo in Bristol (read the review here), I was able to sit down and discuss the band's music, plans and how social media and youtube has affected how bands market themselves in the modern age, with guitarist and vocalist, Dallas Toler-Wade. Sunday Old School: Nasty Savage

Professional wrestling and heavy metal music has plenty in common, perhaps more than one might initially think. Both fan bases are mocked by many people who don't share their enthusiasm for the colourful world they adore, both are perceived as appealing mostly to white males, though of course there are many overlooked female fans and both vary from the no nonsense to the ludicrous. So what happens when a professional wrestler has a penchant for metal music and brings his antics from the ring to the stage? Why, you get Nasty Savage of course!

Nasty Savage was formed in 1983 by lead singer "Nasty" Ronnie Galetti, along with drummer Curtis Beeson, bassist Fred Degischan and guitar players Ben Meyer and David Austin, in Brandon, Florida. The band recorded two demos, "Raw Mayhem" and "Wage of Mayhem" in 1984 and built up a solid following in their home state, thanks in part to Ronnie Galetti's outrageous stage persona, which would include smashing television sets over his own head. Their notoriety and popularity spread enough to earn the band a deal with Metal Blade Records, with whom they released their self-titled debut in 1985. More...
