Conflux is a collaborative death metal project helmed by Chase Fraser (Continuum, ex Animosity, Decrepit Birth), Tommy McKinnon (Akurion/Neuraxis), and features an array of contributing members including:

"From the start we wanted to include contributions from other members. Then we got the idea of making it a sort of club where all the members can contribute their original ideas, voices and tone, and individual expression," commented McKinnon on the synergetic nature of the project. "Associations like this in metal are somewhat rare, but they're even more rare in death metal."
Chase Fraser adds, "The Conflux collective is definitely an ambitious experiment and we couldn't be happier with the results so far. We're looking forward to sharing what we've been working on and can't wait to record the full length later this year." More...

Tiles Streaming Full New Album
Laser's Edge today - April 15th - presents the massive 2xCD "Pretending 2 Run" album from Detroit prog kings Tiles.
Encompassing nearly one-hundred minutes of music produced by Terry Brown (Rush, Fates Warning), and with artwork by Hugh Syme (Iron Maiden, Rush, Dream Theater), "Pretending 2 Run" features guest musicians from such acts as Miles Davis, Dream Theater, Steven Wilson Band, Porcupine Tree, and more, including Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull.
Tiles guitarist Chris Herin offers: "Ian has been a Tiles fan since we released our third album, 'Presents Of Mind.' Over the years we floated the idea of him making a guest appearance and eventually the timing was right. We sent Ian a moody atmospheric tune (Midwinter) and he wove some cool melodies in between vocal phrases; then cuts loose with his trademark flute improvising during the song's long ride out solo. I think I listened to it twenty times to make sure it really happened - what a thrill for us and what a generous gesture from an icon of progressive rock!"

Daydream XI Posts Playthrough Video
Brazilian progressive/power metal outfit Daydream XI has launched a live instrumental video of the new song "Painted Smile," which will appear on the band's upcoming concept double album "The Circus of the Tattered and Torn."
The video, filmed at a recent full-band rehearsal, is released in conjunction with an ongoing PledgeMusic crowdfunding campaign for the new album. Stream the "Painted Smile" playthrough video below.
Commented guitarist/vocalist Tiago Masseti: "As a thankful message to everyone who's been supporting the band and the PledgeMusic campaign, we decided to capture a live studio performance of a new song. It's instrumental for now, not to spoil too much. This song is one of the first ones I've written for the new album, and it really helped to establish the tone for the new record. It's got some fast power metal drums as in the older songs, but on top of heavier and darker riffs. It's also pretty responsible for the whole circus theme of the album. The lyrics to come are about the classic irony of the clown who makes people laugh but is broken on the inside."
The Daydream XI PledgeMusic campaign will continue for another 30-plus days, offering fans access to exclusive items including personalized postcards, signed CDs, songbooks, music lessons, personalized ring tones, intimate concert experiences and more. More...

Counting Days Recruits Curtis Ward
Counting Days is thrilled to announce that former and original Bring Me The Horizon guitarist Curtis Ward will be joining the band on a full time basis after replacing Bobby Daniels for the recent Hacktivist and Crossfaith support shows.
Curtis was instrumental in the two first Bring Me The Horizon albums "Count Your Blessings" and "Suicide Season." Talking about joining the band he says:
“My friend told me to check out the new album a few months ago and was really in to it. The band mixes my favourite parts of metal and hardcore and use them to create an awesome sound. I've been trying to make own band for a while now and have been struggling to find people who can commit the time. So when Charlie asked me if I'd like to try out for Counting Days I jumped at the chance. The songs are real fun to play and I can't wait to perform them live. Plus we have been writing new songs together already!"
Guitarist Charlie Wilson adds: "I've been friends with Curtis for a while, we met through mutual friends at hardcore shows around the time he first moved to London, We got talking recently and he told me he wanted to get a new band together, by chance we were short of a guitarist so we met up for a rehearsal. His style of playing and taste in music was perfect for Counting Days we're really stoked on bringing him into the band and feel he will be a great addition to our live performances and writing process!" Interview
Visigoth Comments on "The Revenant King"
If the members of Visigoth were born during the Iron Age, they definitely would have proved their worth on the battle field where cold steel talks and words are for the dying. There were not, however, born in that age, but rather into a time that still recognizes the power of great fantasy literature depicting barbarian hordes in battle, monsters, and sorcery.
The band’s first full-length recording “The Revenant King” contains nine epic length tracks that realize the band’s epic tales, put to traditional and power metal like Agent Steel, Manilla Road, Cirith Ungol and Manowar.
One of the complaints, as you’ll see in the following interview, about their album is that it’s too long, clocking in at over an hour in length. The length of these songs seem warranted, though, considering the stories Jake Rogers tells. When I reviewed the album at the beginning of 2015, I had few complaints. In fact, I listed it as an early contender for power metal album of the year, a boast that stayed with me throughout the entire year as I put the album in my top twenty list of 2015.
Sixteen months have passed since the release of “The Revenant King,” but fans haven’t forgotten. The group has released a video for the title track right before the end of 2015 and is currently on tour with NWOBHM strong hearts Night Demon. I caught up with guitarist Jamison Palmer and vocalist Jake Rogers before their performance in Austin, Texas to discuss their album, video and tour. More...
In Mourning Streams "Fire And Ocean"
Sweden's lauded melodic death/doom metal band In Mourning just released a second new song from upcoming album "Aftergolw." The track "Fire And Ocean," which is the album opener, is available below.
Earlier the band premiered "Below Rise To The Above" - if you missed it, give it a listen right here. In Mourning's fourth studio album "Afterglow" will be released on May 20th worldwide via Agonia Records. The cover artwork was made by Kristian Wåhlin (Bathory, Tiamat, King Diamond).
The band comments: "The new album is called 'Afterglow' and its story takes off from where 'The Weight Of Oceans' ends. It’s a bit more complex than our previous albums and it has got a bit of a different sound than the older ones, a bit more alive like a band and maybe not always as studio corrected as our earlier material. However, the foundation of the music is still what we’ve always done and the key elements are pretty much the same but with some new additions and a few new twists and turns of course." More...

Texas Hippie Coalition Streams "Come Get It"
The true inventors of red dirt metal - none other than Texas outlaw quartet Texas Hippie Coalition - are pleased to reveal another brand new track cut from upcoming release "Dark Side Of Black," due out April 22nd via Carved Records.
The song "Come Get It" appears as track one on the new album and is available for streaming right now below. When asked by Guitar World what the significance of the album's title is, vocalist Big Dad Ritch stated:
"There are a lot of people who will work hard at blacking out your light, as opposed to working on making their own light bright. I feel I represent a mighty powerful bright light, but I also feel that when push comes to shove, the darkness I have hidden behind my light is ready to blacken all that holds color. When this happens, I cannot control my dark side. You see, there is always someone who has a darker side and I am the Dark Side of Black..."
