The clip, available below, was painstakingly illustrated and animated by Niklas Sundin (otherwise known as guitarist for Swedish melodic death metal group Dark Tranquillity) at his design studio, Cabin Fever Media.

“The video is about the alchemical concept of turning lead into gold. That concept can also be an analogy for a search for internal perfection and spiritual enlightenment,” states guitarist/vocalist Alexandre Castellan. More...

Texas Independence Fest Day 3: Cavalera Conspiracy

Day three of Texas Independence was the day I looked forward to the most. The headliners included Corrosion of Conformity-Blind, Death Angel and Cavalera Conspiracy.

This day was by far the most stacked for talent. Bands as well known as Allegaeon played early in the day. I didn’t make it to the club until 2:30. The Agonist was the first band I caught. I wasn’t able to see the band with Alissa White-Gluz before she left for Arch Enemy, so it’s difficult to compare her to her replacement Vicky Psarakis. Psarakis’s vocals seemed fine, but she appeared to have lost the monitor. Her band mates were in fine form, though.

The Great Discord Posts Album Teaser

Sweden has been a fertile ground for metal of all varieties for multiple decades, and there appears to be no sign that this will change anytime soon. The variety and quality of bands is staggering, and Metal Blade Records is prepared to help add The Great Discord to the list of one of Sweden's finest new groups. Metal Blade comments:

"The band's cornerstone is with the enigmatic vocals of Fia Kempe. Her tone and delivery is immensely emotive and is augmented by a band whose sound is impossible to describe. It's technical, heavy, and yet not so much to overwhelm those not anointed in metal. What's important is that The Great Discord offers a truly unique twist on both metal, and what is to be expected from a female-fronted band.

"The uniqueness The Great Discord encapsulates is put on display today with the release of the first teaser from Duende. Part 1 entitled 'Sanguine' gives a brief glimpse into the enigma that is The Great Discord. It features a brief sample of new music with eerie yet perfectly entwined visuals. Check it out below."

The "Duende" album will be available worldwide on Metal Blade Records on June 2nd in North America, June 1st in the UK / Europe, and May 29th in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. More...

Armored Saint Streams A Real "Mess"

Los Angeles, California's Armored Saint is set to release a seventh studio album this summer. The album, "Win Hands Down," is all things Armored, a vintage crush of classic power propelled by a cathartic blast of life in the year 2015.

The album is scheduled for release on June 2nd in North America, with release dates for June 1st in Europe/UK, and May 29th in DE/CH/AT. Armored Saint has partnered up with Loudwire to debut the brand new track, “Mess.” Check it out below.

John Bush (vocals) states: “Powerful music required some powerful lyrics. It was made clear by the chanting sounds of the tribal groups at the beginning of the song all the way to the frantic chorus. It sounded like chaos. Possibly the heaviest song Armored Saint has ever written.

"I continue to marvel at the amount of garbage that’s created on our planet. Whether it’s food or other disposable items. We could blame groups like Monsanto and that would certainly be valid, but it all comes back to personal accountability. We could all do better. Waste dirty’s up our beautiful cities and planet. We’re consuming maniacs. All you can eat buffets offered to a third of Americans who are obese doesn’t make a whole lot of sense. That is unless were trying to kill ourselves. What a mess." More...
