Pit Stories: Emmure Ruins A Whole Tour

It's time for another bout of Pit Stories, and this week we find out about how Emmure ruined an entire tour for German band Annisokay (but what goes around comes around, as Emmure also just cancelled a tour due to health issues...). Annisokay shared this tale from the pit:

At a time where things really started rolling with the band, we went to an Emmure show in our hometown. While the rest of our band watched the show from a chilling place in the back, our drummer, who was a huge Emmure fan at this time, went to the first row and was more then excited to mosh to their songs. However when the first song started, something really bad happened to his right foot. He doesn’t really know what, but the pain was horrible.

When he made his way back to us out of the pit, the Emmure set was already half way through. He took of his shoe and his foot was double the normal size. A later visit in the hospital confirmed our worries. He fractured his feet and had to wear a plaster for many, many weeks. A whole tour had to be cancelled, but our drummer learned to play our songs with his left foot only, so the damage to the band was kept relatively small.

However, our own shows usually have a lot of pit action going on, including huge wall of deaths or stage dives even by our own front man Dave. It’s really good that we nearly never heard about any bad injuries that happened to our crowds yet.

The new Annisokay album "Enigmatic Smile" dropped today - April 14th - via Long Branch Records/SPV. Check out a music video off the album below. More...

Lich King Seeking New Vocalist

On April 1st, Massachusetts thrash outfit Lich King published a new track entitled "I Quit." It was naturally received as an April Fools joke, however now Lich King singer Tom Martin has made an announcement that he would in fact be relieving himself of vocal duties.

Lich King is currently scouring the globe for a replacement singer and is pushing forward with plans to release a new full length album in 2015.

Interested applicants can find instrumental tracks and lyric sheets right here. Record your vocals over the tracks and send them to Andy@evileyeindustries.com or Mail@lichkingmetal.com. Tom Martin's full statement reads as follows:

"So yesterday we put up an announcement in the form of a song, in which I declared I was quitting Lich King, and... April Fools! It was the truth. These are my reasons for leaving. My reasons are my own, and don’t at all reflect on the attitudes or opinions of the other guys.

"Reason #1: Live shows were never my thing. I have bad hearing so at a metal show when you hear the music, almost all I hear is deafening jangled noise.

"Reason #2: Bars are the worst. On tour, you’re hanging around in a venue for seven to eight hours every night, and usually it’s a bar. I have no idea how someone sits in a bar for that long and doesn’t want to open their wrist with a blender.

"Reason #3: I’m a homebody. I like sitting at home, surrounded by my comfort zone, making stuff. This isn’t to say I didn’t enjoy touring with Lich King, because largely, I did. I love those guys and discovered I love traveling... but I stopped having a good time when we pulled into the venue every night. I’d dread shows, and during them I’d sit on the bus and fantasize about being home with my stuff. More...

Skinless Posts "Serpenticide" Track Online

"Only The Ruthless Remain" is the imminent new full-length from recently reactivated New York death metal band Skinless.

Boasting the group's classic late '90s lineup of founding guitarist Noah Carpenter, vocalist Sherwood Webber, bassist Joe Keyser and drummer Bob Beaulac, with the recent addition of second guitar gun, Dave Matthews, "Only The Ruthless Remain" is an unrelenting, seven-track symphony of sonic sickness.

Today, Skinless is pleased to officially unleash the gut-wrenching sounds of opening psalm, "Serpenticide" for public inebriation. Relays Webber:

"[Illustrator] Ken Sarafin summed it up best when he said that upon listening to the new SKINLESS, his balls exploded and bigger ones grew in their place. That's how we felt when making it! 'Serpenticide' was the song that got us into the flow of creating this album. This track has the grind, dirge, and vengeful bludgeoning that makes it a slicing cross cut of Only The Ruthless Remain. You've heard the live version; here is the final in all its ruthlessness. The countdown is on. Much more to come. As the old saying goes, it's time to stop the teasin' and start the pleasin', ha!"

You can also see the band live on these dates:

Wovoka Streams Full New Album

SoCal sludge/post-metal outfit Wovoka's epic debut, "Saros," comes out today on Battleground Records, with the full record now available for streaming below courtesy of Invisible Oranges.

Formed circa January 2013 among the monolithic concrete sprawl of the greater Los Angeles area, the post-metal quartet Wovoka has been developing a sound that speaks to the ear with a wide range of robust dynamics, fragile melodies, and measured surges of psychedelic color. The music is conceptual and delves deep into the many contrasting elements of human thought and belief, but it is not a sermon for or against anything, rather it is a study of what makes us tick and develop the ideas that we do. Texas Independence Fest Day 2: Whitechapel

Deathcore was the chosen style of music for day two of Texas Independence Fest in Austin, Texas. Whitechapel headlined and Oceano and Boris The Blade were two of the bands providing support. All those bands played the main stage, the Garage Stage. Before getting into this this stage, I would like to look at some of the small stage, Control Room Stage. Metalcore seems to be alive and well in Temple, Texas, a town located an hour north of Austin. Insonomist out of Temple played yesterday’s show and In The Trench played today. Azavatar Releasing Self-Titled Album

Art Of Propaganda is proud to present Azavatar's debut, self-titled album, set for international release on June 29th. The label had this to say:

"Formed in 2013 by former Saeculum Obscurum guitarist Azavatar as a solo-project, the selfsame band Azavatar features C.A. (Odem Arcarum) on drums, Khothron (Saeculum Obscurum) on vocals, and umbrA (Atrorum, Nebelkrähe) on keys.

"Together, the German quartet create a spiraling whirlwind of unease and unrest across Azavatar. At once overwhelmingly hypnotic and restlessly manic, the five-track album explodes with harrowing fury, often to simmer while tension mounts and the listener is kept on the edge of a knife, only for yet further explosions of grimy, teeth-gnashing, and yet strangely melodic black metal and that knife sinks deeper.

"Fittingly, Azavatar conceptually deals with the sick and perverted nature of worship and the cycle of rebirth into a numb and meaningless existence. It was likewise only fitting that the album was recorded and mixed by M. Zech at The Source Studio - well known for the latest recordings of Ascension, Secrets of the Moon, and Odem Arcarum - and mastered by V. Santura (Triptykon, Dark Fortress) at Woodshed Studio. Completed by stark 'n' haunting cover artwork by Comaworx (Deathspell Omega, Bölzer, The Devil's Blood), 'Azavatar' will seep its way into one's subconscious like a poison, and the only way to escape is to draw blood..."

Atropas Signs With Wormholedeath Records

Swiss melodic death metal act Atropas has signed a worldwide deal with Wormholedeath for the release of their massive debut album "Azrael" (originally self-released in 2013). The album was produced by Jonathan Mazzeo at MathLab Recording Studio. More information is expected soon.

Worm commented: "Atropas came in as a gift from God. They have proven to be one of the most hard working and focused bands that I have ever met during my life. The result of this cooperation with them and MathLab is absolutely unbelivable. This album sounds huge, tuneful, brutal and catchy at the same time but the main point is their rage. The rage that will explode with violence, the drive caused by urgency, the suffering through the melody, the brutality of of reality. This is Atropas and will blow you all away."

To celebrate the event, the band has unleashed the first official music video for the track "Crimson Zero" which can be viewed here:

Adramelch Releases More Details On "Opus"

"Opus" is a Latin word. It defines "an artistic work, especially on a large scale." This fits perfectly for the fourth release of Adramelch, which will be released on May 22, 2015 via Pure Prog Records, a division of Pure Steel Records. The CD will be available for advanced purchase at the Pure Steel Records stand for the upcoming "Keep It True Festival" on April 24-25, 2015.

"Opus" is the first release in which the band has used a professional artistic producer: Guido Block, native German singer and bass player. The album was recorded at his "Lo Studio" in Milan, Italy and mastered at NewSin Studios by Luigi Stefanini. "Opus" also features two guest singers: Block and Simona Aileen Pala, who join the band on four tracks.

As a welcome exception, the band quickened the pace for "Opus," and with good reason. On the one hand, "Opus" marks the official end of Adramelch's discographic career. For a number of reasons, the band has decided to call it quits, drawing the final curtain on the career of Italy’s most influential and charismatic combo. But, before leaving forever, the band has decided to produce yet another milestone, set to leave a mark on the scene. On the other hand, "Opus" is touted as the most atmospheric and mature album of the band's career. Once again, the band has not limited itself to repeat it's past, but has looked forward, managing to create a new masterpiece, adding new colors and atmospheres, yet totally in line with its past heritage.

"Opus" has all the trademarks of the Adramelch sound. From arcane progressions to epic atmospheres, from the overwhelming arrangements to the unique vocals of Vittorio Ballerio, this record shows once again all the facets of the very peculiar sound that has made Adramelch an absolute cult-band, not only in their homeland but around the world.

The track list is as follows: More...
