"Every band has 'that' song on an album," relays Kings Destroy vocalist Steve Murphy of "Mythomania," the latest single to come off the band's soon-to-be-unleashed, self-titled full-length.
"It's the song that you poured your heart and soul into for months. The song where the vocal line simmers in your skull refusing to reveal itself until you are completely frustrated by it. The song where the drums are not obvious or continually being perfected until the last minute. 'Mythomania' is that song on this album. Conservatively, we spent six months working this song out. It was constantly being revised," he continues.
"We had multiple discussions about scrapping it. It was a war within a war of creation. This is not a song that was borne out of a few beers and bong hits. It's a song that reaches from the soul. The lyrics are a metaphor for the growing gap between the haves and have nots in the world. The transition from quiet to aggressive is one of the best on the album as a whole and it's also a reflection of the band's singular personality. Mellow to chaos, life hurtling towards death, external peace masking internal gnarling anger. Challenge yourself, take the 'Mythomania' ride. The voice cracking at the end is both the voice of total victory and agonizing defeat. Can you hear it?"
Byzantine takes its ferocious brand of progressive thrash to new heights with “The Agonies,” the second single off new album "To Release Is To Resolve" (out now via CEN/RED Distribution and available for streaming right here).
The West Virginian band’s monstrous stage presence is further captured in the brand new video for the track which was premiered via Billboard.com. Check it out below.
Behind the thrashing track is a lyrical theme inspired by a social ill that plagues the band’s home state. “The song title ‘The Agonies’ is a street term for the severe withdrawal symptoms from prescription pain pill abuse,” front-man Chris “OJ” Ojeda shares with Billboard. “This subject is extremely personal for me as this problem has infiltrated many good lives of people I know and grew up with.”
See the band live on these dates:

April 18 – Parkersburg, WV – Sixpence Pub & Eatery More...
In 2013, Dagoba released the full-length album "Post Mortem Nihil Est," mixed by Logan Mader in Los Angeles.
The band's schedule was very busy that year, touring relentlessly throughout Europe and the USA. Back in France, Dagoba continued to tour but found some time to write a new album: "Tales Of The Black Dawn," to be released on June 22nd in France.
Since you don't change a winning team, the band asked Logan Mader to do the mix once again.
Until the release of this new album, Dagoba is still on the road in France and Europe, performing shows more and more massive. Stay tuned for more details on upcoming live shows. More...

Detroit's Gift Giver is set to release Century Media debut "Shitlife" on Tuesday. The band is currently on tour with Sworn In and just completed a video for the song "Trendkill." Our friends at Lambgoat.com are hosting the premiere, with the video also available below.
Gift Giver lead singer Justin Johnson had this to say about the video: "Trendkill is a shot at anyone who holds themselves in a higher regard over 'what's hot.' I don't give a fuck if you like metal, rap, hardcore, pop music, etc... The trendy elitist bullshit isn't cool. If you can't appreciate most styles of music- you should probably go live inside a fucking box. The video for Trendkill shows us doing business as usual. It was shot on our last tour with our boys in Villains, Barrier, Traitors, and Adaliah. Hope you enjoy it."

Jon Votta states: “When I was a teenager in the early 90's Guns N' Roses perfected what was the standard for any hard rock video. When I first saw the video for 'Don't Cry' and the band jamming on the roof top, that was to me, literally and figuratively, the epitome of making it and being on top of the world.
“Therefore, the main vision behind our new video was to replicate that ‘larger than life’ 90’s style of grandiose performances. The clip also features actor Booboo Stewart who also appeared in The Twilight Saga and X-Men: Days of Future Past.” More...

The tour will commence July 11th in Pomona, California and run through fourteen cities, coming to a close on July 31st in Las Vegas, Nevada. Vocalist Liam Cormier commented via e-mail from Switzerland:
"Were so excited to be heading out with Danzig and Pennywise! Both bands have been our favorites since we first got into punk and metal so to have a chance to tour with both is like a dream come true! We'll be ripping the pit and headbanging until we puke every night!!"
Cancer Bat's previously announced performances on June 25th and 26th in Calgary and Edmonton had to be cancelled. Cormier clarifies: "Calgary and Edmonton, I'm so sorry that we have to cancel our upcoming shows in June! You know how much we love you ripping babes and bros and we wouldn't do it if we didn't have good reason. The reason we can't play is because are coming back in July to party with fucking Danzig and Pennywise! It's going to be fuckin amazing! Sorry for June and see you in July!" More...
Paradise Lost are truly one of the great names in British heavy metal. When thrash exploded in the eighties, the focus shifted away from British heavy metal for the most part, save for Iron Maiden, Saxon and some underground favourites, and towards the United States, where the majority of the big metal stars have come from since. But there were some innovative, trailblazing names back in the United Kingdom, a select company which along with Napalm Death and Carcass, Paradise Lost has assured themselves a place. The band have released some outstanding albums throughout their entire career, most of the particularly noteworthy coming in the early to mid nineties, two of which, "Gothic" and "Icon," gave a name to a sub-genre we still use today, gothic metal.
Though "Gothic" was released in 1991 and a third album, "Shades of God," came a year after, it was not until the release of "Icon" in 1993 that the term "gothic metal," really came into use, with Paradise Lost being the first band to use the phrase, for seemingly little more reason according to singer, Nick Holmes in a Kerrang! interview, than the fact that traces of Sisters of Mercy could be heard in their music. "Icon" was part of a string of classic Paradise Lost albums, arguably concluding with the following album, "Draconian Times," and as such featured some excellent songwriting, memorable music and continuing changes.
One of the best known songs from the album would probably be the record's opener, "Embers Fire," a wonderful, atmospheric piece which really shone the light on the gothic rock influences the group incorporated. The first few notes are chilling enough, before exploding into a cavernous vibe of darkness, complete with well placed lead guitar displays and a vocal performance which serves as much as a warning as it does a guide to head nodding. The cautionary tone of voice foreboding of an almost unforgettable chourus, featuring confrontational lyrics and a terrifying sense of claustrophobia. The atmosphere is the thing of nightmares, but the song is the stuff of dreams. More...

Melodic progressive metal group Ghost Ship Octavius, featuring lead guitarist Matt Wicklund (God Forbid, HIMSA, Warrel Dane), drummer Van Williams (Nevermore, Ashes of Ares, Pure Sweet Hell) and vocalist Adon Fanion, funded a brand new self-titled album through a successful Kickstarter fan campaign launched last year.
Now, the band is pleased to announce the release of the album via digital retailers. You can give it a listen at Spotify or stream the track "Mills Of The Gods" below.
Guitarist Matt Wicklund is beyond grateful for their fans who donated to their album campaign, stating: “Ghost Ship Octavius is musically and artistically everything that I have always wanted to do. We put everything we had into this album and couldn’t be happier with how it turned out! The fans have been outstanding and made it possible for us to successfully fund this album independently through Kickstarter. It’s really exciting to see this all come to life! See you all on tour!”
Drummer Van Williams adds, “I’m super stoked on this album and if I weren’t in the band I know I still would be a huge fan. It’s an exciting time for us as we are collectively brand new and forging our own path. The fans that backed this record not knowing what they would get, and our family and friends that have showed and provided support during this process are truly awesome and the ones who really brought this album to everyone else. For that I’m truly grateful and look forward to getting this beast out on the road to meet the fans that have been so positive and patient.”
The new self-titled album was recorded, mixed, and mastered by Aaron Smith at Envisage Audio in Seattle, WA. More...
"Heimweh," the monstrous and all-encompassing debut LP from London-based epic/melodic black metal horde Crom Dubh is now streaming in its entirety below, courtesy of No Clean Singing, as the album is now out through Germany's cult label Ván Records.
"Heimweh" (meaning homesickness), continues the narrative of the band's 2010 EP, "Deifr," in which the gathering and dissolution of a great river operated as a metaphor for the rise and fall of nations and civilizations. "Heimweh" follows a similar narrative, albeit with a focus on the life of the lone individual within this tumult, following a traditional cradle-to-grave progression throughout the course of the album that runs parallel to Hesiod's five ages of man. The album handles themes of loss, ruthlessness, nostalgia, exile, and death, thinking on the journey ahead and the way home. More...

I've utterly failed you Metalunderground readers - despite having books from just about every RPG system in existence and having an unending love for metal, I had absolutely no idea that Burzum's Varg Vikernes actually had his own professional role playing system out and in print, titled Myfarog ("Mythic Fantasy Roleplaying Game").
Unfortunately it looks like you can only get it at this French website and its not available through any of the usual suspects like Amazon or Drive Thru RPG.
A review of the game can be seen below, and you watch Mr. Vikernes himself describing the rules in great detail at the Myfarog website.

Slayer last released a new song a year ago, when the group premiered "Implode" at the Golden Gods Awards and subsequently put it out as a free download on the Slayer website. The black / death metal barbarians from Perdition Temple today premiere a graphic new video for "Chambers of Predation," available below.
The track hails from the band's new album, "The Tempter's Victorious," recently released by Hells Headbangers, and the video for "Chambers of Predation" was filmed in conspiracy with Unearthed Films for the upcoming DVD release of an AGP (American Guinea Pig Series) film entitled "Bouquet of Guts and Gore."
As Perdition Temple guitarist Gene Palubicki expains, "I felt that many of these images from the film worked quite well with the subject manner of the lyrics to the song 'Chambers of Predation,' and as a fan of hard, extreme, and violent film, this was a fine fit to tie in with this sort of thing. The band footage was shot on traditional VHS tape camcorder - same camcorder used in film production - and the scattered and swaying camera action and unpolished visual approach ties into the scheme of the films timeline of a mid '80s-period look, where most band footage from underground shows/rehearsal rooms was likened to."
