Claustrofobia Checks In From The Road

Now into the seventh week of an epic European tour, Brazilian thrash titans Claustrofobia took the gas off for a brief moment to give an update on how the tour has been so far after a performance at Portugal’s SWR Barroselas Metalfest last weekend.

Alongside the blistering live shows and scores of fans joining their ranks, the band also faced difficulties when drummer Caio D’Angelo, brother of frontman Marcus, was unable to carry on due to illness, being replaced on some shows by the band’s tour manager, drummer of Andralls and long time friend Xandão.

"Certainly, the performance in SWR Barroselas Fest was one of the highlights of this tour!” Comments Vocalist Marcus D’Angelo. “The show was amazing, the crowd was insane and was a great pleasure to play for the lovely Portuguese people.

“Despite the difficult situation, we had the great fortune of Caio being diagnosed and treated in Germany, where health is 100%. He is better every day and in good hands. He is however, forbidden to play drums because home rest is crucial in his recovery. Luckily, our tour manager is Xandão, Andralls’ drummer. He has replaced my beloved brother in the last few shows and ended up learning our last minute songs by ear. Xandão is a brave guy and we are very grateful for what he has done to help us and keep this tour alive. More...

Khemmis Seeks Out "Absolution"

Olympia, Washington-based 20 Buck Spin has hooked up with Denver, Colorado's doom quartet Khemmis for the band's impending debut LP, "Absolution," which is coming together for release July 7th (LP version to follow in August). The label comments:

"The six meticulously crafted songs on 'Absolution' reveal a level of musicianship and writing skill seldom heard on debut albums. Often within the scope of a single song, Khemmis veers effortlessly between the crushing heaviness of Southern sludge and the somber melodies of traditional doom metal, cohesively weaving the disparate styles into their own immediately recognizable form.

"Vocally, Khemmis also utilizes a dual approach, sometimes harsh and guttural, but generally through a stunningly smooth classic doom/heavy rock delivery that even adamant fans of Pete Stahl and Wino will applaud. The powerfully adept rhythm section perfectly anchor the towering riff mastery and colorful dual guitar harmonies, all brought together by Dave Otero's (Cobalt, Nightbringer) pitch perfect production work.

"From the album opener 'Torn Asunder' to closing track 'The Bereaved,' the latter of which will stand as THE doom track of 2015, 'Absolution' positions Khemmis among the highlight surprises of the year. The band is most certainly a live act and will tour at intervals throughout the remainder of 2015, including a planned West Coast run in Summer 2015.

"Fans of Goatsnake, Pallbearer, Samothrace, Graves At Sea, Red Fang and Yob should keep the name Khemmis at the top of their list of bands to watch this year. The album's Fantastic Frazetta inspired cover art by Sam Turner (Speedwolf, Black Breath, Trve Brewing) and track listing have been divulged." More...

Primitive Man Releases "Loathe" Video

Denver's misery makers from Primitive Man, fresh off a mammoth European live takeover, are pleased to bring the frowns with the twisted visual companion to the track "Loathe."

The filth-ridden number comes by way of the trio's "Home Is Where The Hatred Is" EP, released via Relapse Records earlier this year. "Home Is Where The Hatred Is" was tracked at Flatline Audio by Dave Otero (Cephalic Carnage, Catheter, Cobalt, etc.) and delivers four sordid psalms of the band's signature brand of vicious, depressing, feedback-sodden severity.

Directed by Marcos Morales and Neil Barrett and produced by vocalist/guitarist Ethan McCarthy and Jonathan Campos at Dirty City Studios, the marathon, near-twelve-minute video clip for "Loathe" is fittingly dark, dismal and rampantly disturbing. Check it out below. More...

Kingcrow Releases Animated Video

With the release of "Eidos," the sixth studio full-length from Italian progressive metal troupe Kingcrow nearing release next month through Sensory Records, the first single has been released through an official video for the track "The Moth." Check it out below.

Showcasing the Rome-based Kingcrow sextet's expansive take on forward-thinking metal in a completely different approach than ever before, the video for "The Moth" was created in a unique animated style by Argentinean artist Gastón Viñas, widely known for his similarly-styled works for Radiohead, including videos for their songs "2+2=5" and "A Wolf At The Door."

Issues band guitarist/backing vocalist Diego Cafolla about the song: "When we started to think about the first single, 'The Moth' seemed the obvious choice to us since it's short, busy and quite catchy at the same time and shows also some new ingredients to our sound... I was listening to a Radiohead playlist on YouTube when this animated video (for the song '2+2=5') popped up and I found it terrific and mesmerizing... I contacted Gastón Viñas, the author of the animation, just to tell him how much I appreciated his art...he wrote me back that he listened and loved Kingcrow's music and that's how it started. I gave him some inputs about the album concept, the artwork and the song's lyrics and he came out with another brilliant piece of art!" More...

Satanic Ripper Casting Black Spells On Vinyl

Blood Harvest Records is proud to present a special vinyl LP pressing of Satanic Ripper's debut album, "Southern Black Spells," coming on June 22nd.
