Graveworm Reveals "Ascending Hate" Details

Italian dark metal outfit Graveworm will release new studio album "Ascending Hate" on June 19th (EU) / July 7th (US).

"Ascending Hate" marks the band's return three and a half years after "Fragments Of Death," with the new album to be available as a CD, digipak (including sticker), limited white vinyl, and a limited metal box. AFM Records comments:

"Graveworm is one of the leading extreme metal acts in Europe. In the 18 years of their history so far, the Italian dark metallers have not only achieved to deliver quality music constantly, they have released classics if the genre (just think back to 2003’s 'Engraved In Black'). It’s exactly this very special mixture of symphonic black metal elements, gothic and thrash, that makes Graveworm sound so unique.

"And even in their nineteenth year of history, the band doesn’t fail to surprise: even though Graveworm are known for delivering quality sound - only few would have expected the band to return that energetic, strong and powerful. Songs such as 'Buried Alive' or 'Blood Torture Death' sound very fresh, are bursting of power and come up with strong melodies. This immensely high quality level is kept up over the whole playing time of 'Ascending Hate,' which closes with a very Gravewormish cover version of the Bon Jovi hymn 'Runaway' (available as bonus track on the Digipak version)." Destruktor Releasing "Opprobium"

Hells Headbangers has set July 24th as the international release date for Destruktor's second album "Opprobrium."

The band's first full-length in six years, "Opprobrium" follows the warring black/death path laid out on debut album, "Nailed." Founding vocalist/guitarist Glenn Destruktor comments:

"We believe we have shown once again why Rome wasn't built in a day. Opprobrium stems from many years of dedication, and was recorded with our longest-standing and strongest lineup to date. The small circle that has been subjected to our Opprobrium believe it a step up from anything we have done before, and it would be very hard for us to disagree.

"Clearly a Destruktor release, Opprobrium sticks to the formula of the past with total aggression, darkness, heaviness, and riff after riff of extreme metal that clearly sticks to the traditions of those long before. Opprobrium is finally ready for release, and we are looking forward to smashing cunts live, and on your stereo with our new hymns of desecration!"

Black Pestilence Streaming Album

Black metal / punk outfit Black Pestilence is streaming the "Outsiders" album online, which can be heard below or picked up digitally and physically at Bandcamp here. The following press release was also issued about the band:

"Buzzing guitar sound, the way the songs groove in a rock and roll kind of way, the shroud of malevolence darkening the proceedings, and a piss-off punk rock attitude. This is Black Pestilence and their new album 'Outsiders' all right.

"Black Pestilence excels at riding a rolling mid-tempo groove, propelled by a steady beat, picking up speed and adding power with strategically placed double-bass thump without abandoning the rock steady beat. Making each riff count, sometimes dropping out excess instrumentation for effect, and racing forward with speedy drumming, altering the pace, and putting air under the guitars in the right places allows one to savor each horrific note."

Flesh Consumed Releasing New Album

The California death metal engineers from Flesh Consumed are readying the release of their third full-length, "Hymn For The Leeches."

Set for official detonation later this year via Unique Leader Records, the offering is being recorded in several locales and boasts the smoldering lineup of Corey Athos on vocals, Shaune Kelley (Dim Mak, ex-Hate Eternal, ex-Ripping Corpse) on guitars, Andrew Guthrie (ex-Monstrosity) on bass, and Shane Elwell (Images Of Violence, Oppressive Force, VBT) on drums.

Guest vocal slots are taken by Matti Way (Pathology, Abominable Putridity etc.), Steve Tucker (ex- Morbid Angel, Warfather etc.), Mallika Sundaramurthy (Parasitic Extirpation, Castrator, Abnormality etc.) and more.

"Hymn For The Leeches" serves as the follow-up to 2010's traumatizing "Ecliptic Dimensions Of Suffering."

"I am so grateful to be working with this team," comments Athos, "I came to Andrew in the conception of Hymn For The Leeches knowing his previous work. Shane blew me away when I saw him play... a beast! And Shaune is the mastermind behind the music of this album. With every release, Flesh Consumed evolves. I think no one record sounds the same from the next and this new record will be no exception, musically and lyrically. The music is heavy, powerful, with dark/evil melodies and searing solos. The lyrics I wrote in a very dark time in my life and it shows. Subjects about power, hate, and dominance are interwoven with beautiful evil music."

Stay tuned for further "Hymn For The Leeches" details, including cover art and release dates, in the coming weeks. More...

The album is being mixed by the legendary Mike Fraser (Metallica, AC/DC, Aerosmith, Van Halen, etc.) in Vancouver, as I write these lines. The first few mixes I got sound crushing! Gyre Manifests New Metal

N.Y./N.J. metal outfit Gyre has teamed up with Revolver to launch a brand new track, titled "Manifest," taken from the band's forthcoming "Moirai" EP due out May 12th.

"The song speaks of pushing yourself to the edge and finding a balance between your dreams and reality," Gyre told Revolver. "It speaks of seeing past the tentacles that try to control and conform, and to embrace your individuality."

"Moirai" can be pre-ordered now through the Gyre Bandcamp page. The band added: "This album is a resurgence - a reminder that it's never too late to truly awaken your potential in life and control your own fate. We can guide ourselves to this realization by expressing our passion and doing what we love. This can be different for people, but it is through the act of creation we feel our self-worth and purpose bloom.

"'Moirai' is a term for the three sisters of fate. It ties this third album together. Two sisters represent birth and death, inevitable forces beyond an individual's control. We are Lachesis, the second sister...the story in between. If we want to, if we decide...we can write our own story. Ultimately, we are all completely responsible for our own actions and emotions." Vulcano's "Bloody Vengeance" To Be Re-Issued

Greyhaze Records is set to unearth "Bloody Vengeance," the 1986 full-length debut from Brazilian death metal pioneers Vulcano, on May 18th. The label comments:

"Formed in 1980, Vulcano is thought to be the first band from Brazil, and possibly South America, to play extreme metal. An early influence for the likes of Sepultura and Sarcofago, Vulcano's primal blend of black, thrash and death metal sparked a flame that quickly spread across the mid-80s underground metal community.

"Considered one of the most important albums in South American (and beyond) extreme metal, 'Bloody Vengeance' is being reintroduced to a new generation of maniacs. Fully remastered and accompanied by a DVD that features a live performance from the 1986 Festival Da Morte Greyhaze Records will reissue this cult classic as a six-panel digipak CD/DVD on May 18.
