Canada’s finest thrash outfit Annihilator has confirmed 2 special guest slots for an upcoming 2015 headline tour: Harlott and Archer. The band comments:
"Forged in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne, Australia, Harlott are the finest example of the thrash metal genre in recent years. Taking most of their influence from the 80’s bay area thrash scene, they focus on high energy, up tempo music with lyrical influence from the human condition. Unrivaled live concerts, an aggressive recognizable sound and professional musicianship have earned Harlott a strong and dedicated fan base in the Melbourne metal scene, which still continues to grow to this day. Harlott will not only impress new audiences in and outside of the heavy metal genre, but they will also succeed in taking the fans back to the golden age of metal.
"Hailing from the unlikely roots of Santa Cruz, California, Archer is a band determined to deliver genuine uncompromising and unrelenting ass-kicking hard rock and heavy metal music to fans of all ages. As fans of the music themselves, this trio of hard rocking guys is not unlike any fan of the genre. They play for those that share a love for the music and the passion within. Make no mistake – this is a band that is truly the sum of its parts and is best illustrated by the collective musicianship these three individuals possess. Alex’s precise drumming, David’s masterful bass duties, and Dylan’s captivating combination of playing and singing make for a sound and a band that is uniquely satisfying while retaining all the heavy metal inspiration that ultimately drives them. There is a real tangible passion within the band that is revealed when they take the stage and crank out one of their intense performances. It makes one realize that these guys are the real deal….
"Archer has worked hard to climb the rock and roll heap and have no intention of letting go or slowing down as they continue to strive towards greater heights. It is through such tireless efforts that Archer has earned its past and present successes having toured and performed alongside some of the genre’s biggest acts. In addition to embracing the touring grind, Archer has recorded with the likes of Sam Taylor (King’s X, ZZ Top) & Gilby Clarke of Guns and Roses/Rock Star Supernova fame. Listening to their recorded efforts reveal a dedication to their craft that continues to impress." More...

Aelter is one of several side-projects to emerge from the Wolvserpent camp, and uniquely known for a cinematically dreary dreamscape of doom-inspired darkness. Over the course of three albums, Aelter has steadily evolved from the minimal, wide-open expanses of sound - found on 2009's debut "Dusk Dawn" and 2010's "Aelter II: Follow You Beloved "(collected together by Crucial Blast in 2011) - to the strange ambient-influenced slowcore first suggested by 2011's "Aelter III" and now reaching its fullest fruition on "Aelter IV." The track listing is:
2. Death Eternal

Oxnard, California-based Stop Breathing will release new LP, "V," this Summer. A tight knit union of bandits also hailing from The Fucking Wrath, Glass & Ashes, The Missing 23rd, Young Livers and other acts, Stop Breathing has been pounding out energetic skate-punk/late-'80s hardcore since 2009.
Cranking things up another few notches with this fifth official release, in the group's fifth year as a band, "V" was recorded in two sessions; the first in 2013 right before bassist Mike Carter moved to Portland, and the second nine months later with everything but bass. They sent the songs up to Portland, where Carter would track the bass lines and backing screams, after which it was mastered by Paul Miner at Buzz Bomb Sound Labs (Death By Stereo, H20). More...

The second in a series of webisodes leading up to the release of "Padmalotus," the third album from the Italian ritual psychedelic trio Nibiru, can be seen below.
This trailer features the song “Ashmadaeva," with the band commenting: “The name Asmodai is believed to derive from Avestan language *aešma-daeva, where aešma means ‘wrath’, and daeva signifies ‘demon’. This track contains a particular ambivalence. On one side the raw power of the classic sound of Nibiru and on the other side it incorporates a thrilling dark ambient with particular instruments like gong and didgeridoo.
“This is the first track we wrote during the new Nibiru ‘way’. We took more care of its structure, even if we did not lose our love for the improvisation. After the creation of this song, we decided to create a record quite different, compared to the previous albums."
Due on May 18th via Argonauta Records, the "Padmalotus" track listing is as follows:

Evemaster just inked a new record deal with Italian label The Goatmancer, with the label issuing this statement:
"Evemaster was born during the bleak Autumn of 1996 when Tomi Mykkänen (music) and Jarno Taskula (vocals) formed the band from the ashes of Finnish death/thrash group Mortal God.
"After releasing the highly acclaimed demo 'In Thine Majesty' in early 1997, the debut album 'Lacrimae Mundi' in 1998 and the second album 'Wither' in 2003 it was time for a new album which was entitled 'III.' It was released in Scandinavia in June 2010. The album features more mature song writing which had evolved melodically and added heavier parts in the music. The album has received rave reviews especially in Finland. The album features Dan Swanö on vocals on 2 songs (he also mixed and mastered the album) and Markus Vanhala (Insomnium, Omnium Gatherum) doing 2 guitar solos.
"After the demise of Supernova Records the band felt the album didn't get the deserved recognition they decided to work with up and coming Italian label The Goatmancer with the re-release of the album in 2015. This re-release is to boost the band for their next release which should be out in 2016.
"Since the beginning Evemaster has played concerts with bands such as Anathema, Grip Inc, Pain of Salvation, Throes Of Dawn, Samael, Enochian Crescent, Profane Omen, Vader, Lacuna Coil etc."

I would also like to thank the Heidevolk members and crew (past and present): it has been a honour working and partying with you. I am proud of what we have achieved over the years. This is an extremely difficult decision for me to make, but the last year my heart hasn’t been in it 100% anymore. I strongly believe that when you’re part of a band you have to give it 100% or don’t do it at all. More...

German symphonic metal act Xandria announced the details of the upcoming new EP to be entitled "Fire & Ashes." The EP will drop on July 31st via Napalm Records. The cover artwork (shown below) was designed by eminently respectable Felipe Machado, known also for his works with Rage, Blind Guardian, Iron Savior and Rhapsody of Fire.
In addition to three new tracks, "Fire & Ashes" will feature two re-recorded classics: "Ravenheart" (from the 2004 release of the same name) and "Now & Forever" (from the 2005 release "India"). Two covers will be included as well: Sonata Arctica's "Don't Say a Word" and Meatloaf's "I Would Do Anything for Love."
The band commented on the choice of the Meatloaf classic: "During the photoshoot for the Sacrificium record we were digging through our music libraries to find something appropriate for getting us in the right mood. At some point we got stuck with an artist every one of us had a crush on someone with and a story to tell about back then from our teenager days in the earlier 90ies.
"We straight away started joking about doing a Xandria version of this particular song, but really forgot about it until the discussion of doing some remake for an EP came up again. With the biggest respect we started this operation of transforming one of our all time faves, a real classic, into a Xandria hymn. Well, we think we quite did an 'okay' job and on July the 31st it`s your turn to decide whether you`ve got a favorite song or not."
The track listing for "Fire & Ashes" is:

This morning, myself and other members of the MetalUnderground.com community were shocked and saddened to read that one of our most beloved visitors to the site, Gary Snyder, better known around here as "Godlike," had passed away suddenly on March 10th at the age of only forty six. That it took so long for some of us who knew him to find this out has added to the sadness felt that we will never again get to speak to him about the music he loved so dearly and the life he led so fully.
Gary was the embodiment of rock and roll. He lived on the road thanks to his occupation as a trucker and was all about having a good time through the usual rock channels. He knew guitars perhaps better than anyone else I've ever known, creating quite a collection and eager to pass on his knowledge to the younger crowd. In the days when the Metal Underground community was thriving, communicating via e-mails and telephone conversations, he would frequently contact me to see how I was, what I was up to and most of all, to talk about rock and metal, introducing me to such bands as Fastway and Jake E. Lee's, Badlands in the process. He also was very keen to get me to the United States, extending the invite indefinitely for me to come and stay with him, something I tragically will now be unable to do.
It wasn't just myself that Gary reached out to. Some of the older members such as Wilco and Blindgreed1 (real/full names withheld unless otherwise requested,) were able to bond with him over their memories of the bands they loved back in their youth such as Saxon and the younger members were drawn to him because of his life experience, easy going attitude and love of the music that we were told by people his age, "we'd grow out of." Even when he suffered through bad times, he only asked us for patience while he was away and that he would be back to his old self as soon as possible. No sob stories, no aggression, just a man who was concerned that he wouldn't be making people laugh as much as he had.
I'm sure we all have fond and specific memories of Gary, which are welcome to be left in the comments section below. It seems the most appropriate way to close this small tribute to a great character, would be to rock out to some of the music he lived for, which in this case, will be one of his favourite bands of all time, Led Zeppelin. Raise a glass, light one up or bang your head in memory of a brother, friend and above all, rocker. This one's for you Gary. More...
