In just two weeks, the iconic death metal giants from Six Feet Under will unleash the bestial wares of their "Crypt Of The Devil" full-length via Metal Blade Records.
The band's eleventh studio recording boasts ten brutalic slabs of audio repugnance. Following the release of the "Stab" track, today the song "Gruesome" also comes online.
Philadelphia's frenzied Die Choking trio has completed the arduous recording sessions for a debut LP, which will see release later this year. The following press release was issued about the coming album:
"Packing an incomprehensibly manic dose of their most uncompromising material yet, Die CDhoking recorded their maiden full-length at Studio 4 in Conshohocken, Pennsylvania with Will Yip (Lauryn Hill, Circa Survive, Blacklisted, Cop Problem).
"Following in the tradition of the band's prior two 7" EPs -- the self-titled debut and follow-up, 'II,' both released through The Compound Recs in 2014 -- the first full-length recording from Die Choking will pick up where 'II' left off with eleven new tracks, bringing forth movements eleven through twenty-two.
"With even faster BPM-rates and more complicated arrangements employed in the design work of the songs, and more elements of hardcore punk and crust merging with the band's blinding speed/grind metal, the impending LP from Philly's most unhinged act promises to be one of the most violent, high-speed releases of 2015. Additional details on 'III' will be announced in the weeks ahead."
A brief video teaser from the recording sessions of Die Choking's "III" has been leaked and can be seen below. More...
Hard rock outfit P.O.D. is apparently still trucking along, and joins the slew of '90s bands that are releasing new material this year.
Guitarist Marcos Curiel announced to Texas radio station KFMX that the band's new album will be titled "The Awakening," with an August release date to be preceded by a single dropping in May. Hear all about it in the interview below.
New album "The Awakening" follows "Murdered Love" from 2012 and the "SoCal Sessions" from 2014.
Testament's Eric Peterson was interviewed by Robbs MetalWorks at the Aztec Theater in San Antonio, Texas on April 6th.
In this new video interview, available below, Peterson finally gives a long-overdue update on DragonLord, which hasn't released an album since 2005. He comments: “I’m working on that right now, I’m actually mixing it right now. It’s gonna be out in ’16, it’s called 'Dominion.' It’s gonna be really killer, I’m excited about that!”
Vocalist Andy Biersack of Black Veil Brides has issued the following announcement about canceling upcoming shows in Chile and Buenos Aires:
"It's with a heavy heart that I have to share with the BVB Army in Chile and Buenos Aires that due to an unforeseen family emergency I am forced to postpone the next two shows.
"We do however plan to still come to Brazil at the Monsters of rock festival in São Paulo and we are currently working to reschedule the 2 postponed shows.
"Again I am deeply sorry for the inconvenience this may cause you but I promise that we will make the shows up to you in a timely fashion. All of my love."
Anurzym has a new lyric clip online for the song "Humanoid," which can be seen below, and the band also comments:
"Ladies & gentlemen, we are proud to present a video for our brand new single 'Humanoid.' This is the first official single from the new album 'All Is Not For All' set to be released on June 15th, 2015 via Melodic Revolution Records.
"Video created by Cloud Music Typography. 'All Is Not For All' features guest performances by Michael LePond, Charlie Zeleny, Uri Dijk, and Christopher Chaplin."
Former Evile lead guitarist Ol Drake has released the first single from his upcoming debut solo album, "Old Rake," which features instrumental guitar encompassing a myriad of styles, including flat-out shredding, classical, progressive, melodic and acoustic.
The album is due to be released on June 22nd in Europe and June 23rd in the USA. The first track, "Guitarists Playing Guitars," which made its debut last night on the BBC Radio 1 Rock Show with Daniel P. Carter, showcases the six-string shredder's fretwork and features special guest appearances from the likes of Gary Holt, James Murphy, and Josh Middleton. Also featured is sticksman Mike Heller, who performs drums on the entire album.
Listen to "Guitarists Playing Guitars" now at Spotify here. Ol Drake also comments: "Behold the first single from the already-rusty 'Old Rake'. This song was written by trying to write the cheesiest riff possible and going from there.
"I was speaking to Gary Holt and he said he'd like to solo on the album, and it just happened that when he'd said that I'd reached the main 'solo section' in its writing process. Then I Thought 'I might as well go all out'. James got involved and I couldn't believe it; to have two of my idols from growing up on one of MY songs was mind-blowing. I then asked my friend, Josh, from Sylosis, who is a ridiculous shredder, and my other friend, Amit. I met Amit through his working at a metal magazine publication, but mainly from at festivals involving alcohol; ridiculous shredder, too!
"Do not take a full impression of the whole album from this song; every track is different. Hope you enjoy my cheese-fest of 'Guitarists Playing Guitars'!"
Spiritual black metal outfit Schammasch has unveiled a stream for "Inri," a track from the upcoming reissue of debut album “Sic Lvceat Lvx,” which is due out May 18th.
Vocalist C.S.R. defined the track as being “one of the few groove songs we’ve written so far – thrashy, simple, forthright and still a great one to play live. Unlike its usual meaning as the cross inscription, the letters ‘INRI’ refer to the alchemist aphorism ‘Igne Natura Renovatur Integra,’ pointing out purification through the flame of consciousness.”
Having originally been released as a limited-edition CD, “Sic Lvceat Lvx” has been freshly revamped with new artwork from Valnoir (Behemoth, Watain, The Black Dahlia Murder) and remastered for worldwide release – including the album’s first-ever vinyl pressing – via Prosthetic Records. More...

Shining - the Norwegian band with saxophones, not the Swedish group - has joined forces with Spinefarm Records for a worldwide deal that will see a new studio album released later this year supported by international touring. The label issued this press release:
"The brainchild of multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, and songwriter Jørgen Munkeby, Norwegian collective Shining, fresh from a European tour guesting with Devin Townsend, have been breaking down musical barriers for the past 15 years, mixing progressive, technical metal, jazz, avant-garde and experimental sounds with cutting-edge visuals and blazing live performances.
"Along the way, Munkeby, a skilled saxophonist and guitarist, a graduate of the Norwegian Academy of Music, has released a number of Shining albums, collected awards, toured with the likes of Dillinger Escape Plan and Arch Enemy, and effectively forged a whole new musical genre.
"Just as Venom created 'Black Metal' in the early '80s, Shining can proudly put their name to 'Blackjazz,' also the title of their 2010 album, a Top 10 record in Norway. Following 'Blackjazz' was the excellent O'ne One One' (2013), and now it's time for studio album number seven, the title of which is TBA. More...

Cradle Of Filth today unveils the alluring yet harrowing cover artwork for upcoming 11th studio album and opus nocturne entitled "Hammer Of The Witches." Fiendish main man and vocalist Dani Filth explained the provocative cover:
“The artwork for 'Hammer Of The Witches' was created by Latvian Artist Arthur Berzinsh and is a lavish walk-through of the lyricism, drawing on rich Renaissance themes and displaying them in beautiful yet unsettling scenarios. Half of the detailed pieces are totally original for the release, others are Berzinsh classics cunningly tailored to the themes of the album, which are themes rife with heady witchcraft, be it persecution, retribution or unfettered spiritual liberation. The female form is rampant throughout the artwork, unashamedly displayed in its classical rendition of beauty... and horror.”
Arthur Berzinsh is best known for his defiant neo-symbolism raster graphics and oil paintings, postmodern interpretations of classic myths, and refined hooliganism in the playground of contemporary art. Arthur Berzinsh explains his artwork and concepts: More...
Romanian outfit Dirty Shirt is set to release new record "Dirtylicious" on April 26th, 2015. "Dirtylicious" is the group's third album, the follow-up to "Freak Show," which surfaced in 2013. The following press release was issued about the coming album:
"The band managed to build a completely new musical vocabulary, based on a sonic skeleton made up of Dirty Shirt's unique blend of genres. Even if we encounter the first experiments with this brand of fusion metal on the previous releases of the band, which included hits like 'Bad Apples,' 'Freak Show,' or 'Saraca Inima Me,' 'Dirtylicious' will take everything a step further.
"The album is built on folk elements, and the studio sessions were done with artists who are masters of traditional instruments, like violin, clarinet, accordion, dulcimer and many more. Together, these musicians form the Transylvanian Folkcore Orchestra. In order to make the waiting process a little easier for the fans, Dirty Shirt decided to post a teaser preview, which showcases snippets from all the songs on the track list."

Slayer - bassist/vocalist Tom Araya, guitarist Kerry King, and returning drummer Paul Bostaph, along with touring guitarist Gary Holt and producer Terry Date - has completed recording an 11th studio album and the band's first new effort since 2011's "World Painted Blood."
The currently untitled album is expected out later this year, and will be released on Slayer's own, as-yet-unnamed label (through Nuclear Blast).
Slayer will tour extensively to support the new album, headlining this summer's Mayhem Festival as well as playing other major outdoor festivals and several "An Evening With..." Slayer-only concerts. The confirmed itinerary is below.
Following Slayer's studio sessions in March 2014 that yielded the track "Implode," offered by the band as a free download, Slayer recorded on and off between September and mid-January at L.A.'s Henson Studios, and is currently mixing the album. Eleven songs have been recorded, but what will end up on the final track listing is yet to be determined.
"The new songs have that iconic Slayer feel," said Nuclear Blast America's General Manager Gerardo Martinez. "Tom's vocals are probably the best I've heard in two decades, and Kerry, Paul and Gary are playing their asses of with powerful, intense performances and riffs and beats that are absolutely lethal."
Fans got a second preview of the new album this past Saturday when another one of the new songs, "When The Stillness Comes," was released as a limited-edition (only 5000 copies worldwide), seven-inch vinyl picture disc exclusive for Record Store Day. You can also hear the track below.
The new album marks the first time Slayer has worked with producer Terry Date (Slipknot, Soundgarden, Deftones), Bostaph's return to the Slayer recording line-up since 2001's "God Hates Us All," and Holt's first appearance on a Slayer album. It's also the first Slayer album without the presence of founding guitarist Jeff Hanneman, although a Hanneman-penned song is on the final track listing. More...
Shattered Sun just released a music video for the pulverizing title track off debut album, "Hope Within Hatred," which will be available everywhere tomorrow via Victory Records.
Vocalist Marcos Leal elaborated on the experience of shooting the band's first video: “Filming this video was kind of our first introduction to our new lives. From the drive to Chicago, the 6:00AM wake up call, and the efforts of working non-stop for the next 14 hours, the hard work and dedication put into everything is something that's going to shine. We want to give our fans the best video possible.”
“Hope Within Hatred is a song about overcoming tremendous adversity,” Leal explains. “We wanted to show people with this video that sometimes the decisions we make can dig us so far down, that it would be easier to give up than fight to get out. But we can all break through if we want it bad enough.”
Returning with opus number fourteen, "The Plague Within" (due out June 1st in Europe, June 2nd in North America), Paradise Lost is once again refining the chemical equation to sonic alchemy.
In anticipation of this release, the band has now teamed up with Metal Hammer for the premiere of the new lyric video for the track "No Hope In Sight." Check it out below.
Paradise Lost comments: "Check out the first track from our new album 'The Plague Within'. 'No Hope In Sight' was one of the first tracks we wrote and it reflects a blend of styles. From death metal to gothic to classic rock. It's like all eras of PL wrapped up into one track. We hope you all like it!" More...

It's been a long time coming, but unabashed coffee connoisseur Charlie Benante (Anthrax) has entered the world of entrepreneurship, announcing "Benante's Blend."
The coffee will come in two different varieties: the "Be All End All" blend, which is a dark roast with a real kick, and the "Forever Metal" blend, a milder coffee. You can pick yours up at this location.
"I grew up in a large Italian family and coffee was a daily staple in our home," said Benante. "As a kid, I loved coffee so much, my mother said that at one point, she put some coffee in my bottle. For me, the taste of coffee is one of the greatest tastes that there is on earth, so I decided to create what was for me, the perfect cup of coffee."
This is actually Benante's second foray into the world of coffee. Years ago, he joined up with Dave Mustaine for a line of coffee and coffee products. "I've learned so much since then," said Benante, "especially about selecting and blending the right beans, and how important roasting is."
Benante hooked up with a company that specializes in coffee roasting. "I was pretty specific about the tastes I was looking for," Benante explained. "I told them the type of coffee I wanted, what some of my favorite coffees were, and we built it from there. We combined beans from different regions, Brazil, Costa Rica, Mexico, Sumatra and Africa, and tweaked the amount of time the beans were roasted to get just the right taste. It was a process, I tested a lot of different blends, but it was a lot of fun.
"I love coffee so much," Benante added, "if I could make it a cologne, I would wear it."
In between coffee tastings, Benate has been recording the next Anthrax album due out later this year. The band kicks off leg one of its 2015-2016 global tour on April 24th. More...

The two also discussed a tour with Onslaught and Artillery that Striker later cancelled. Fast forward a few months later and the band is experiencing many of the same things. I talked to Dan Cleary about the cancelled tour and how the group eventually stepped out on the road with Artillery, a tour that is taking place at this very moment. Now that “City of God” has been on shelves for eight months, we were able to discuss how critics and fans view the album. In the following interview we also discuss new guitarist Trent Halliwell who replaced Chris Segger. More...

“Death metal with black metal influences combined with experimentation. We use effects and additional musical instruments (mellotron, ebow) to create ambientations and atmospheres. Entheogen is by far a more elaborate, complex and dynamic album in terms of musicianship, concept and song structures.” More...

Greek/Swedish melodic death metal band, Nightrage, has announced an April 24th, 2015 release date for its sixth studio album, "The Puritan," due out on Despotz Records.
Album number six was produced by Daniel Bergstrand (Meshuggah, Devin Townsend, Soilwork) and George Nerantzis at Dugout Productions in Uppsala, Sweden.
Today we're stoked to premiere a lyric video for the title track, which can be found below. Guitarist/founder Marios Iliopoulos also had this to say about the song:
“’The Puritan’ is one of the first songs that we wrote for the album. The title and the concept is symbolic, showcasing our hunger and relentless passion for our music. It’s about not giving up and clashing with every kind of obstacle, but continuing no matter what to fight for our ideals, honoring the music that we love to play.
“Musically, it has this Thin Lizzy/Iron Maiden twin guitar attack on the riffs, along with the signature Nightrage harmonies. We felt this track was the right opening song for the new album, since it´s fast, energetic and also has some really big vocal hooks from Ronnie on the chorus. You get the idea of the feeling for the whole album by listening to the song; this idea of what melodic death metal means to us is really represented here. The song is punchy and metal to the bone.
“The great duo at Dug Out Productions, Daniel Bergstrand and George Nerantzis, helped us make the song sound so good, loud and powerful. Ronnie Nyman makes an amazing vocal performance, and we have a great collaboration here. His ideas and vocal melodies are so powerful and really make an amazing contrast with the Nightrage riffs and harmonies.” More...
