In Solitude Calls It Quits

Sweden's In Solitude, which was founded back in 2002, has decided to officially call it a day after releasing three full-length albums: a self-titled debut, breakout "The World. The Flesh. The Devil." (reviewed here), and final studio release "Sister."

The band issued this statement about the breakup:

"Dear friends. It is with great sadness that we inform you that we have chosen to end In Solitude here.

"This is something that's been taking shape for a long time and suddenly the day came when we had to evaluate our positions in life and find a solution.

"The reasons for our departure are not hostile in any sense and our love for each other and the music is stronger than ever before. But it is with respect for that music and that love between us that we choose to end it at this point.

"Changes in our personal lives demanded that we treated this as carefully as we could and with our deepest respect and reverence for all personal feelings, and for the aim of our journey.

"This has been one of the hardest decisions we've ever had to make and we've had to investigate every inch of our beings in order to make this right. In Solitude has been the center of our lives for 13 years and we've invested everything we have in this and to make this decision was to rip us up by ours roots and make us re-evaluate our entire lives and our future.

"As the final words fell in our concluding agreement, we looked back and saw with new eyes the magnitude of our brotherhood and the things that were carried through because of it. Our trust, our love, our shared obligation. The truth of the hand and the truth of the word to disperse the bounds between us and to diverge the shore for us follow. How it gave us the width of the world and the means to share it and store it together. All that was in it and all that was taken from it. And all the things that now shall pass without our collective notice. More...

Feral Signs With Cyclone Empire

Swedish outfit Feral just inked a new record deal with Cyclone Empire. The band had this to say in a press release:

"That's right, we have signed a deal for the release of our next album, and to none other than Germany's Cyclone Empire! The upcoming album is entitled 'Where Dead Dreams Dwell' and is scheduled to be released by the end of May 2015. More details regarding the release is to be revealed soon.

"We are damned proud to have inked a deal the mighty Cyclone Empire! Them having released some of our favorite albums during the latest years, we are in good company to say the least. And to be releasing an album we have put so much time and effort into through this label is something we are extremely satisfied with. Our upcoming album includes some of the most varied material we have written, but still feels more unified than ever. This will truly be one massive assault of death metal, and we could think of none better to handle it than Cyclone Empire"

Strauss Reveals New EP

London brings people together from all walks of life, so when a French guitarist met two Italians, a Spanish guitarist, and a British bassist, it seemed destiny to make noise together as Strauss (a Germanic name of course).

They’re now set to release their second EP "Luia" around late May. Drawing from common wells of Kylesa, Kyuss, and Red Fang, the fuzz-charged grooves they conjure up on "Luia" are infectious and dirt-laden, so you may well catch something.

Meanwhile vocalist Stef possesses both crooning tones and a manic bark to contrast, and even a rap-style vocal in the vein of Zack la Rocha (Rage Against The Machine) on final track "2015."

Strauss started out with modest intentions, with the band saying: “met one day and decided to make some noise...that’s it really.” Building on the success of a self-titled debut, the band hit the road far and wide, even reaching Latvia’s Fontaine Festival and Sweden’s SandvikFest. Now, it’s time for round two of hitting the studio, and "Luia" has taken shape spectacularly. More...

BTBAM Streaming "Memory Palace"

Progressive metal band Between the Buried and Me has released a brand new song from upcoming seventh full-length album "Coma Ecliptic."

Fans can listen to "Memory Palace" now below. "Coma Ecliptic" will be officially released worldwide on July 7th, 2015. Coma Ecliptic boasts a series of emotive peaks and valleys that drive the narrative along with the lyrics. Singer Tommy Rogers shares:

"Coma Ecliptic is a new life for BTBAM. Throughout the process we worked harder than we ever have and really pushed the BTBAM sound to a new identity. In a world of repetition, I'm very proud to be a part of something that is extremely rewarding, as well as frightening. When you don't push yourself you will never know what the outcome is. The outcome is Coma Ecliptic."

The album was recorded in January and February of 2015 with longtime Between the Buried and Me producer Jamie King at Basement Recordings in North Carolina. Drums and piano were recorded with King and Kris Hilbert at the Fidelitorium. Final mixing and mastering was placed in the capable hands of Jens Bogren (Opeth, Katatonia, Amon Amarth, Devin Townsend) at Fascination Street Studios in Sweden. More...
