Well, its official. The rumored replacement for outgoing guitarist Chris Broderick has been confirmed as Angra's Kiko Louriero.
Mainman Dave Mustaine commented: "I first met Kiko around 8 years ago for a cover shoot for Burrn! magazine. I had no idea who he was, other than the fact he was tremendously talented and that the staff from Burrn! held him in high regard. Since then I've come to see what a guitar virtuoso he is, and I'm deeply encouraged by his depth and talent. Very few Megadeth alumni have had the same feel and ability as Kiko. As Frank Sinatra says, 'the best is yet to come!'"
Louriero becomes the 10th second guitarist for the band. Recently, Mustaine announced that Lamb of God drummer Chris Adler will replace Shawn Drover as a "guest." Drover and Broderick recently teamed up to form the new band Act of Defiance. More...

With three releases contributed to the metal world, 2012's "Burning Bridges To Nowhere," 2009's "At The Bottom" produced by Greg Dawson (The End, Moneen, Choke) and 2006's debut "Glass Barricade," Canadian band Odium is back with a new lineup and a heavier sound as the group records an upcoming album.
“This is a very exciting time for me,” says drummer Joe Mullen. “We have been working towards this for a long time. We initially tested out our abilities with our new track 'Centipedes' and I know that after combining our work with the sonic wizardry of Greg Dawson at BWC Studios (Moneen, The End), this will be a record we can be very proud of.”
As the album comes together in the studio, Odium has no plans to slow down on the live performance front. The group will be supporting Montreal metal force The Agonist at London's APK on May 9th alongside Nothing Left For Tomorrow and Ataxia. Kaotoxin is proud to announce the inking of a multi-album deal with France’s nihilistic black metal act The Negation.
Alongside Sidious, Colosus, and Otargos, The Negation is completing the black metal family of the Kaotoxin roster. The label comments:
"Orthodox black metal? Maybe, at first listen, but there’s way more than meets the eye with The Negation and the soon to be unleashed second full-length will definitely prove that!
"The band released its debut full-length, 'Paths of Obedience' (2013), was a conceptual statement about their hate for mankind and its submissive behavior, its total lack of consciousness and the fact it should end it all now. The new album is a scream of hate and anger and a call to resistance.
"Influenced by the legendary acts they’ve been touring or sharing the stages with (Marduk, Belphegor, Inquisition…) or by other acts such as Dark Funeral or DeathSpell Omega, The Negation will prove itself a world-class act with this second release, beware! The Negation will also take part of the second annual KaotoxinFest on December 5th in Lille (FR)."

With the "Visceral" European tour commencing tonight in Hamburg, vocalist and guitarist of Brazilian thrash metal outfit Claustrofobia, Marcus D’Angelo, takes time out from the bustle to tell Europe what to expect as the band hits its shores.
He also speaks on the journey his band has taken over the past twenty years, as well as commenting on the beginnings of the wild metal from his homeland.
“The metal scene in Brazil in the 80’s and early 90’s had little information about anything,” comments Marcus. “To get a vinyl or tape from bands outside Brazil was almost impossible. It was through trading tapes and vinyls that headbangers got [to hear] Metallica, Slayer, Kreator, Venom etc. These bands then shaped the metal here in Brazil."
With bands such as Sepultura and Krisiun hitting the international stage and making household names in the world of metal, Marcus tries to explain what fuels the fire of Brazilian metal and what it is that often makes the music so passionate and recognizable.
“I guess each part of the world has their own style in the metal scene because of the different cultures and ways of life. Here in Brazil it is wild and that's why people used to call us ‘Metal Malóka’. Also, in comparison to the likes of Europe, Brazil is a relatively 'new' country, therefore we must find our own way to play each riff and compose. It is [fired] with hot blood and this reflects in the music. Sepultura is the best example and they showed the world the wild metal from Brazil.
“Bands to look out for include, Ratos de Porão, Korzus, Sarcófago, Dorsal Atlantica, Torture Squad, Vulcano, Lacerated and Carbonized, Unearthly, Confronto, Andralls, Violator, Nervosa, Test, Surra, Project46, Eminence… and of course Claustrofobia!” More...

With this signing, we at Despotz have taken over the rights to their debut album which will finally be available worldwide; also, we will release the long awaited, yet unnamed album #2 this autumn.

We hope you enjoyed our April fools stories yesterday as much as we did! In our long-standing tradition, we devoted the entire day to fake news and spoofs. We had fun writing them despite the fact that we can't really fool most of you in our thirteenth year of the tradition, even when we start off with some very plausible (yet fake) stories. In case you missed them, you can read yesterday's April Fools stories here.
Promises of a new Iron Maiden album, Lamb Of God drummer Chris Adler being replaced by Dave Lombardo, and MetalSucks being bought out by TMZ were the day's most popular faux stories. MetalSucks even liked and shared the last one for kicks.

The band commented: "A year and half ago we started a project that would become a part of our very being. 11 days of recording and guidance from an icon and friend, Michael Vescera, months of production time and we are finally seeing our passion become a reality. As we get closer to the finish line we wanted to share with you some clips of our journey thus far. This is an album that we are infinitely proud of and we thank you for sharing in this amazing endeavor."
The band is currently shopping the release to labels and more information will be available soon. Check out the preview clip here: More...

New female fronted heavy metal outfit Black Tower premieres the video for the track "Death March" taken from the full-length debut "The Secret Fire" set to drop June 2 via Unspeakable Axe/No Idea Records.
Explains drummer/vocalist Dave Williams: "'Death March' is the opening battle cry from Black Tower's inaugural collection of blood-soaked trad metal legends -- a not-so-subtle nod to both the phantasmagoria of Tolkien's tomes and the dark melodicism of Elixir, Master's Hammer, Maiden, Dissection, et al, all the while rooted firmly in the soil that bore such punk essentials as Against the Grain, Sleep In Safety, and November-Coming-Fire. The video for 'Death March,' cut by Jason Gilmore at Urgency Company, is merely a reconfiguration of the cinematic triumph that is Sorceress, because...well, that shit is crazy".
