"We are thrilled to announce that R.U.L will be banging the drums for us on our next live shows. Our first rehearsals with him were mind-blowing and we cannot wait to introduce you to this very talented drummer! We had a great time with Yom and wrote some of our best songs together, but after a lot of deliberating we reached the shared conclusion to proceed on separate paths. It was only a matter of time: the all-bass metal band Extinction Level Event discovered Meghan Trainor's "All About That Bass."
Check out a bass metal mashup below released to tease the band's debut EP "The Catalyst," dropping on May 5th. Unfortunately it's pretty short, so the real question is: when will the full cover version come online boys?

Orogen has made three songs available for streaming online (check 'em out in the Bandcamp player below), with Shadow Kingdom Records issuing this press release:
"Orogen is a relatively new band created from new musicians who love classic heavy metal and doom metal, so there’s no surprise where the music sits here.
"What’s really cool about the music is the vocals at times sound like Mark Shelton from the Crystal Logic album, an album that really was ground breaking in the way it was created and executed. It’s really cool to hear a lot of great sounds from the past all spiraled into this EP, while bringing their own twist as to what they want to hear in heavy metal.
"So we’ve mentioned Crystal Logic as a starting point. Take that, then layer on some old Trouble and Candlemass and that will get you somewhere close, but their take is kind of interesting and I would not recommend this for anyone other than true DIE HARD DOOM METAL fans.
"This will only be released on 100 Cassettes / Digital / and T-Shirts for anyone that wants to represent not only Orogen, but also Yan’ Dargent’s dark mind!" More...
Majesty In Ruin is a side project of John Gaffney (Sinister Realm), and Rich McCoy (who’s quietly been in the music scene for approximately 30 years), gearing up to release "All Light Shall Fade" via Shadow Kingdom Records on May 19th. The label also had this to say:
"The two paired up to join up and present their best songwriting skills. Together they’ve achieved nothing short of an underground classic Epic Doom Metal EP. All 3 songs kill it in terms of songwriting, vocals, atmosphere, and more! We should make an extra note that the vocals really stand out here. They’re crystal clear, filled with an abundance of emotion; they’re definitely the main highlight of the album. This will hit the spot for fans that like bands similar to Solitude Aeternus, Dio, Candlemass! A cassette tape and t-shirt of the album cover will shortly follow. Stay tuned."
You can now preview all three songs digitally via the player below, with the track listing as follows:
1. Mother of Desire
2. The Lamp of Invisible Light
3. Rememberance More...

Swedish ambient band Forndom will release the "Flykt" album via Nordvis Produktion on June 19th, with the label offering up this description:
"Imagine yourself by a campfire underneath the open sky, far away from the rattling of society. Nearby you notice a raven spreading its wings; croaking as it solemnly stares out across the surrounding landscape. As you turn you can hear a fox crying out in the distance, followed by what can be perceived as a drum beat derived from the earth itself. This is 'Flkyt,' an escape from the world such as humanity has let it become - neglected and abused.
"With an enchanting splendor 'Flykt' takes us on a very down to earth yet intense musical journey, a ritual tribute to our Northern legacy and a time when people lived in harmony with nature and worshipped the Nordic gods. There is more to 'Flykt' than merely ambient tones that resonate with atmospheric soundscapes - it also serves as a reminder to us all to embrace our heritage; to bring back what has been lost and to cherish it until the very end."
1. För världarna nio
2. När Alvkungens rike faller samman
5. Återkomst More...

One of the great things about the internet is that younger headbangers can find all sorts of bands so much easier than they could twenty years. Where once fans may have wondered what happened to certain members of bands, they are now able to find their subsequent or side projects with much greater ease. One such band who achieved success in their time but for a while were swept away featured a very important member of the classic lineup of one of metal’s most important bands, Motorhead, whose guitarist Eddie Clarke would leave for a new group, Fastway.
Fastway was formed in 1983 when "Fast" Eddie Clarke became disillusioned with Motorhead and teamed up with UFO bass player, Pete Way, who had also become disgruntled with his band. They recruited former Humble Pie drummer, Jerry Shirley and Irish singer Dave King. Despite Way being a founding member and half of the group’s namesake, he decided to leave the project early on because he was unable to escape his record deal with Chrysalis Records and instead opted to join Ozzy Osbourne’s band, later forming a new group, Waysted.
