Cut Up Signs With Metal Blade

Metal Blade is proud to announce the addition of Swedish death metal band Cut up to it's roster. The label comments:

"Cut Up was founded by drummer Tobias Gustafsson and vocalist/bassist Erik Rundqvist in early 2014. After disbanding Vomitory by the end of 2013 after 24 years of death metal duty, the two felt it obvious to continue creating death metal together.

"Very soon, guitarist Anders Bertilsson and guitarist/vocalist Andreas Björnson were recruited and Cut Up was complete. Both Bertilsson - who was previously and most notably in Coldworker (2006-2013) - and Björnson - also known from Fetus Stench - share the same musical ideals as Gustafsson and Rundqvist as well as the passion to play live.

"The next months followed with hard work, writing and rehearsing, and in November 2014 they entered the studio and recorded 11 songs for the yet untitled debut album. With the band members' collective resume and repute in the metal scene, you can expect nothing but violent, catchy, groovy and grinding death metal from CUT UP.

"More info on the debut album, a first track and the front art will be announced and revealed shortly!"

Comments drummer Tobias Gustafsson: "I am very happy, proud, honoured and excited to team up with Metal Blade Records once again, this time with Cut Up! Can't stay away from playing death metal, obviously, so it feels fantastic to have this murderous ensemble together so soon after putting Vomitory into eternal sleep. Cut Up is not just another project, but all four members' new main band. We have made a debut album that we are tremendously satisfied with, both material- and production-wise. We can't wait to let you hear it! Cut Up aim to hit the stages as soon as the album is released, so we hope to see you all in the front row and in the pit!"

Victor Smolski Starts New Band

A few weeks ago, the announcement about the separation of the current Rage lineup caused some furor within the metal scene.

While founding-member Peavy Wagner decided to continue Rage with new members, guitar player Victor Smolski set his mind on following his passion for neo-classical, orchestral metal and continue on the path that ended up with the Lingua Mortis Orchestra debut "LMO." This marks the birth of new band called Almanac.

“Almanac is the continuation of the concept, which I started back in 2013 with LMO”, says the guitar player and adds: “The well-known faces of LMO stay the same: both female singers Jeannette Marchewka and Dana Harnge, as well as the Orquestra Barcelona Filharmonia. On top of that I am proud to announce that we also have two outstanding male singers joining us: Andy B. Franck (Brainstom) and David Readman (Pink Cream 69)! All of them offer me the possibility to add more variety and a new musical dimension to the new tracks’ arrangements.”

At a later point, Victor Smolski will announce the bass player and drummer of Almanac – but the baptism of fire is close: “I will present the whole new band on our first live appearance on the Musikmesse Frankfurt," reveals the guitar wizard. Almanac will perform on April 16th at 17.30 CET on the Agora Stage.

Furthermore, Victor Smolski plans to enter the studio in 2015 and record a debut album. More info will follow about that shortly.

Stearica Streams "Nur"

As Italy's Stearica sets the final details of the "Fertile" LP in place for release via Monotreme Records mid-month, Revolver Magazine is hosting a premiere of the album's "Nur" anthem, which boasts a rare bout of vocals for the instrumental trio, courtesy of Ryan Patterson, of Coliseum. Listen in below.

Stearica's intense sophomore album, "Fertile," features guest contributions from Colin Stetson (Tom Waits, Arcade Fire, Bon Iver) and Scott McCloud (Girls Against Boys) in addition to Coliseum's Ryan Patterson.

Issues Patterson on the convergence with the band: "In December 2007, Coliseum was added last minute to a bill in the small French town of Lille that included Stearica and Toronto's Lullaby Arkestra, the kind of beautifully diverse bill that happens too infrequently. Over a meal before the show, we all met and shared stories, a collective connection of bands who travel the world. We were welcomed with open arms.

"The thing I recall most about the evening was a genuine sense of camaraderie and sincere kindness from the folks in Stearica. We played our sets that night, all vastly different but with the connective tissue of sincerity and passion. These brief moments and memories stick with us. Years later, I was invited to lend my voice to a new Stearica song and gladly accepted. To take part in making music together, across oceans and many years after our first meeting, brings these memories back and rekindles friendships. I was an honor to be a part of Stearica's music." Warbringer Banned From House Of Blues

Joining the likes of Skeletonwitch and other esteemed metal alumni, the recently reformed Warbringer has been banned from playing the House Of Blues for lyrical content. Warbringer comments:

"So a special announcement from the folks at Disney Inc. Warbringer has been banned from the show with Meshuggah on April 13th at the House of Blues Anaheim.

"The show will proceed but we won't be on it. Our band name/image/lyrical content are somehow objectionable to proper Disney image and family values. We are not told of specifically why. We will still appear the following day at the San Diego House of Blues as Disney has nothing to do with that one.

"As the person who wrote all our lyrics, I'm not sure how anything I've written is worse than:

-the goose-stepping Nazi hyenas from Scar's song in the lion king
-the racist crows in Dumbo
-Bambi in general ("Mom! Nooo!)

Vincent Castiglia Announces NY Exhibition

Surrealist Vincent Castiglia has announced the “Archetypes” Exhibition & Live Art Event in NYC on Thursday April 16th, from 6-9 PM at the Dorian Grey Gallery.

Since Sheik ‘N’ Beik Art Collective met Vincent seven years ago, he has been developing a body of work with what some would consider an “unconventional” technique. The entire collection of his paintings was created exclusively in his own human blood. He believes that this singularly personal medium contains his own psychic energy, while working with it gives it an outlet and form. In doing so, he dissolves the barrier between art and artist in a most literal and immediate sense.

In the wake of Vincent’s 33rd birthday, the age of the Christ’s crucifixion and resurrection, “Archetypes” has been curated by Julio Santo Domingo, Roger de Cabrol, and Benjamin Larretche from the Sheik ‘N’ Beik Art Collective, to showcase the relative themes of death and rebirth in Vincent’s work. The exhibition opening will mark the launch of Castiglia’s official partnership and collaboration with the Sheik ‘N’ Beik Collective. More...

Butcher Babies Wraps Up Work On Album

Butcher Babies just completed work on a sophomore full-length album with producer Logan Mader (Five Finger Death Punch, Gojira). The new offering is set for a Fall release through Century Media Records.

The band will also join up with In This Moment on April 18th in Montclair, NJ for a massive, five week North American tour with Upon A Burning Body and The Nearly Deads, which will be preceded by a slew of dates alongside Upon A Burning Body. See below for all dates.

Heidi Shepherd (vocals) states: "This upcoming tour is really special to us. Not only do we get to see so many of our friends that we have accumulated around the country through our music, but it’s also our first chance to play some songs off of the new album. Our fans have been so patient waiting for new music. In true Butcher Babies fashion we never do anything half-assed, so it took a little while. Playing these songs on this tour will be a little treat for our dedicated fan base. Also, to be back out with In This Moment is a huge honor. They have been so supportive of us and they put on an incredible live show.

"To all the Butcher Babies fans old and new, you’ve inspired us so much throughout the years. After every show, we do a free meet and greet at our merch booth. Be sure to come stop by and say hello. We would be honored to meet you."

Carla Harvey (vocals) further adds: "It is crazy to think that this will be our ninth big national tour since our first big tour in mid 2012. We feel like old road dogs now as we recognize all the truck stop showers and coffee shops all across the states. However, the best thing about touring is seeing all the familiar faces in the crowd. Our fans have become dear friends over the last few years and every night feels like a family reunion at our after show merch booth meet and greets."

Henry Flury (guitars) says: “Every time we pass through a city we see more and more faces screaming along to the lyrics to our songs. You guys have no idea how that makes us feel. Now we have a few new face melting surprises in store for you guys and we can't wait to see you sweat it out with us in the pit!" More...

The years of hard work, setbacks, heartache and blood aren't immediately obvious to the casual observer, but then the "Blood Legion" are not your typical fans. We are honored to have such a beautiful connection with our Blood Legion family, it's amazing that Century Media Records is releasing this compilation so everyone can hear our personal favorites over the last ten years. We love you all and the journey has just begun, Stay the course with us. We are immortal, We rise from the wraith, We are eternal, You are my blood legion My faith. This is for you"

Chris Howorth from the band had this to say: "This compilation is for the 'Blood Legion' our die hard fans, We wouldn't be doing any of this without our fans, this album is for them. Immortal Bird Releasing New Album

Midwest blackened death grind ensemble Immortal Bird will release a brand new full-length this Summer.

Titled "Empress/Abscess," the five track follow-up to 2013's "Akrasia" EP was captured by Pete Grossmann (Weekend Nachos, Harm's Way, Dead In The Dirt) at Bricktop Recording in Chicago earlier this year and mixed and mastered by Colin Marston (Gorguts, Krallice, Nader Sadek, Atheist, Origin etc.) at Menegroth, The Thousand Caves in New York.

"Empress/Abscess" includes a guest appearance by John Hoffman of Weekend Nachos and finds former drummer/vocalist, Rae Amitay, trading in her drum stool for a full-time position at the mic.

Elaborates Amitay, "I've stepped away from drumming duties and enlisted our live drummer, Garry Naples (Novembers Doom). Essentially, I had to set my ego aside and determine what was going to be the best for this music. [Guitarist] Evan [Berry] and I wrote some incredibly challenging material for Empress/Abscess, and Garry had been playing it live for months, whereas I'd been focusing a lot of my drumming energy on the newest Thrawsunblat album.

"My chops are in a very different place than they were when we recorded Akrasia and it would take me a week in the studio to do what Garry can accomplish in two days. Having him behind the kit saved us time, the finished product is stronger, and I was able to delve into the vocal performances and lyrics with my undivided attention. Will I play drums on future Immortal Bird albums? It's entirely likely, but for Empress/Abscess, I passed the sticks over to the best person for the job."

An official release date for "Empress/Abscess" is forthcoming, but expected to drop in late June. As a precursor to its official unveiling, the band will embark upon the Western Migration Tour 2015. More...

Idolatry Posts New Music Video

Edmonton, AB black metal outfit Idolatry has a new video clip for "Clefs au Chambre de Tristêsse" available online, which can be seen below courtesy of NoCleanSinging.com.

The video was created by NVS Productions from Nashville, Tennessee (previously produced videos for Wormreich, Hades, and Borgne) and showcases a terrifying nightmare of mirrored figures moving eerily in the darkness. Idolatry comments:

?"'Clefs au Chambre de Tristêsse' began as an unholy pact between Unrest and ourselves. It is a conjuration in french that weaves a tale of someone who has prepared a room to end their life in. Meticulously set up to capture the ultimate failure of hopes, lingerings and plans. A trembling hand holds the key towards the door... Knowing inside is finite.”

The track’s introduction is sung in French while the second portion is a spoken word poem in English constructed by Lörd Matzigkeitus (vocals) called "Once Thought Of Webs." The band decided not to add this song to a future full length or EP, and instead release it as a stand alone.

When asked to comment the band simply stated “We have chosen to release this exclusively on limited run vinyl, hand numbered by the band. There will be no other versions available besides these and this decrepit, cryptic video by NVS Productions. Be haunted and suffer.....” More...

Amberian Dawn Working On New Album

Finnish symphonic metal band Amberian Dawn is pleased to announce the group has started working on a new studio album.

Together with AD's co-producer Mikko P. Mustonen, vocalist Capri and the band's composer Tuomas Seppälä are hard at work right now in the studio polishing the vocal arrangements. Tuomas had the following to say about the new album:

"The new album is going to be the most vocal-driven one in AD's history. This album continues the style which 'Magic Forest' started and takes it even further. Very melodic stuff coming up. I just realized that I've written over 60 songs for Amberian Dawn during these years and it's really amazing to realize that I haven't lost 'The Flame' to do this. I feel like reborn with each and every AD album. This album is going to be the best so far, no doubt of it!!"

Amberian Dawn is also introducing new bass player Jukka Hoffren, a very experienced and talented Finnish musician (Adamantra, Epicrenel, Ragged Saints). The band comments:

"Now it's official! Jukka isn't actually so new with us. He played all the base parts on our previous album 'Magic Forest' as a session player. Now everyone will have a chance to meet Jukka on our next gig which is held on 22th of April in Nosturi/Helsinki/Finland. Welcome to Amberian Dawn Jukka!"

"Since forming in 2009, the band has toured the globe extensively, and released two full length releases: 'Sleep Therapy' (2012), 'In Love There is No Law' (2013), and a live album: 'World War Live' (2014).

To be on the label that released "Hell Awaits", "Nightfall", "Those Once Loyal" and others is a huge honor, and we can't wait to join the list of Metal Blade classics." More...
