Sourvein Releases "Avian Dawn" Video
Doom/sludge outfit Sourvein will release Metal Blade Records debut, "Aquatic Occult," on April 8th worldwide. Featuring guest performances by Lamb of God's Randy Blythe (vocals, organ), Amebix's Stig Miller (guitar), Corrosion of Conformity's Reed Mullin (drums) and many others, the album is described by front-man T-Roy as the record he wanted to make at a time when his life was at its bleakest.
With only one week until "Aquatic Occult" drops, Sourvein has revealed a brand new music video for the track "Avian Dawn," directed by Randy Ada.
T-Roy details the guest appearances on this track: "The 'Avian Dawn' video is directed/edited by Randy Ada and features live footage of us recording at SSP Studios in Raleigh, NC. You'll see Mike Dean of C.O.C. on the production board, Reed Mullin of C.O.C. on drums, Kevin Rochelle of Sea of Tyrants on guitar, Lou Gorra on bass and myself recording riffs and vocals. This video truly gives a behind the scenes look at the album's core performers hard at work. Music wise, 'Avian Dawn' is an upbeat song about positive thinking with an overall loose theme surrounding the sea birds of Pleasure Island, relayed as abstract wordplay in the lyrics throughout the song. We really dig this tune and it's a lot of fun to play. Enjoy."

Sigh Posts New Music Video Online
Japanese extreme metal legends Sigh has posted a new music video online for their song, "The Forlorn." You can check it out below. The song comes from the group's latest studio album, "Graveward," which was released last year due to rave reviews (including a perfect score from this very website,) and is the second song from the album to receive the music video treatment following, "Out of the Grave."
The band are currently working on new material for their next album, with guitarist Kadenzza Yuichi Oshima posting the following message online:
"Now I'm recording the guitars for Sigh's upcoming new "H" album. But I'm stranding re-amping...... and in a mess... The wiring between Cubase and Kemper doesn't work well.
"Anyway the "H" album, we have to make it better than "Graveward"... I'll do it!!!" More...

Sunday Old School: Infectious Grooves
Metal music has long experimented with other genres. We've seen metal make the short trip to mix with punk and hardcore and it's been known to flirt with more distanced genres such as reggae, electronic and rap music. One band who helped pioneer the hybrid of metal, punk and funk music was Venice Beach's own, Suicidal Tendencies, led by one of rock's most charismatic frontmen, Mike Muir. When the group recruited bass player Robert Trujillo, Muir appeared to have found a kindred musical spirit, who not only shared his love of funk, but brought it into the band's sound. This partnership was to expand beyond Suicidal Tendencies and cause a new band to emerge, who go by the suitable name of Infectious Grooves.
Muir and Trujillo began the band in 1989 and were joined in their endeavour by Jane's Addiction drummer Stephen Perkins and former Excel guitarist Adam Siegel. The group brought a very bizarre and silly humour to their music, which had previously been seen Suicidal Tendencies, though not to the same extent and invented a character called Sarsippius, a reptilian lover who appeared in skits on the band's albums. Their quest for a record deal was a relatively short one, signing with major label Epic, who also housed Suicidal Tendencies. More...
