Liv Kristine Comments On Being Booted From Band
Update: the band has released a response to this statement claiming very different things than what Liv says below. You can read that part of this sadly unfolding saga over here.
After the seemingly amicable sounding split between Leaves' Eyes and founding member Liv Kristine, the less-than-savory aspects of the story are now of course coming to light. Liv just posted this message online via Facebook:
"Dear Fans & Friends, without you I wouldn't have the strength to continue with music. What you all have done for me with all your endless support and passion keeps me going on in these difficult times.
"Thank you for warning me concerning new postings by someone in Leaves' Eyes, done to harm me and make my situation even worse. I have nothing to hide, nothing to fear. I was told a bit longer than a week ago that I am not preferred as the band's singer for further tours and recordings anymore.
"I asked for the situation concerning Indonesia and the soon-to-happen up-coming shows. The answer was 'no.' I asked if there's a replacement and I got no clear answer. I can't believe this process happened behind my back, parallel to a huge disappointment in my private life. A few days later there certainly was a replacement. I must say - that was 'quick!' More...
Wilderun Streaming "Trident"
Wilderun has released a new cover track online commissioned during the band's Kickstarter campaign for an album release, which can be heard below. The group comments:
"Here is our 3rd and final Kickstarter-backed cover, 'Trident!' Bit of an interesting story behind this one: instead of choosing a popular song to cover, our fan Howard pitched us the idea of 'covering' a song that he had written himself. We gave his piece the full Wilderun treatment, and we're very happy with the final product. Cheers Howard!"
Psalm Zero Releasing New Album
Profound Lore Records is thrilled to announce the impending release of the ambitious second album from New York City-based Psalm Zero. The album is being preparged for a summer 2016 street date, and Profound Lore comments:
"With sophomore album 'Stranger To Violence,' Psalm Zero takes the aesthetics, poetics, and spirit established with their 2014-released 'The Drain' debut, and blows those elements up into an epic work of wide-screen drama.
"After two years of anticipation built by the gradual episodic release of the Birthright Trilogy of video/cassette singles, as well as a series of personnel shifts, the Queens, New York-based outfit led by songwriter/vocalist/producer Charlie Looker finally delivers the next installment of a wholly unique vision of heavy music.
"Pummeling drum machine, lush swirling synths, razor-sharp guitar (courtesy of former member Andrew Hock), and grinding bass, all provide the dramatic backdrop for Looker's crooning baritone voice. Comparisons as diverse as Godflesh, Katatonia, and Depeche Mode have all been used in attempts to describe Psalm Zero's completely singular brand of art-metal.
"A monolithic, cinematic, start-to-finish musical experience with immense crossover potential, which blurs genre boundaries at every turn, as demented as it is socially relevant, Stranger To Violence promises to bring together fans from across multiple different scenes and orientations, and further proves that there is truly nothing out there like Psalm Zero." Mob Rules Guitarist Returning To The Stage
Mob Rules has checked in with this brief update about guitarist Sven Lüdke returning to the stage tonight:
"All-clear for our show in Munich (Backstage) this evening! Sven has used his time to recover and with a lot of sleep and medicine he is stable now and able to play the show!"
Sven had previously missed a live performance due to illness, with the band posting this message on Facebook:
"Sad news for our fans in Pratteln (Z7). Our guitarist is suffering from a severe flu, so he is not able to play the show tonight. He has tried everything to get well, but to give him the chance to recover fast and play the forthcoming shows in Munich, Berlin, Karlsruhe and Hamburg, we unfortunatelly have to cancel our gig today. We are very sorry about this and wish Sven all the best to get very well soon!" More...

Sarabante Finishes Work On New Album
Greek hardcore crew Sarabante has announced the completion of second LP, "Poisonous Legacy," confirmed for release through Southern Lord this summer.
Heavily influenced by oppression and trying to withstand the ongoing crisis in the band's home country, Sarabante's new anthems are forged in times of extreme austerity, which has without doubt blackened the group's focus.
As a result, the music on "Poisonous Legacy" is darker, filthier, more sincere, and more destructive than before. The album was mastered by Brad Boatright (Sleep, Nails, Obituary) and will be released on Southern Lord this coming June 10th.
The track listing and cover artwork have been unveiled, and audio samples and further information will follow in the coming weeks. More...

Barren Heir Releasing "Tired Turns"
"Tired Turns" is the debut full-length release from Barren Heir; the Chicago based post-metal trio who holster heaviness, ambience, and sludginess in this this ambitious debut. The following press release was also issued:
"Though comparable to bands the likes of Intronaut, Isis, Cult of Luna, and Chicago staples Russian Circles, Barren Heir have a sound all their own that's represented well in 'Tired Turns.' It's as sparse and raw as it is outright powerful. They display a certain manipulation of minimalism alongside their lavish, left-of-center writing approach.
"The full length is comprised of 5 blistering tracks, clocking in at 43 minutes total. The band's strong chemistry is apparent on the album's flagship cut 'Bertha,' and remains so until the album's visceral and powerful closer 'Sometimes' reaches its conclusion. Each instrument (guitar, bass and drums) carries equal weight in this debut. The band isn't so much as playing together as they are playing off each other, reminiscent of a cult followed band like Mare or Botch."
New release "Tired Turns" will be released digitally on May 3rd, 2016. The album was engineered and mixed by Pete Grossman at Bricktop Recording in Chicago, IL and mastered by Brad Boatright (YOB, Old Man Gloom) at Audiosiege in Portland, OR.

2. Holy (8:11)
3. Again (8:19)

Fear Factory Reconstructs "Demanufacture"
Few bands produce albums as influential and unique as Fear Factory’s “Demanufacture.” A record of such magnitude only comes around a few times per generation. It is such a great album that the Los Angeles-based band is currently celebrating its twenty-year anniversary by playing the entire album on their U.S. tour. With “Demanufacture” the band found its blueprint for future recordings. This included syncopated guitars synched with kick drums, electro-industrial sounds and aggressive-meets-melodic vocals.
Guitarist and founding member, Dino Cazares spoke to Metalunderground.com before playing a sold-out show in San Antonio, Texas. We spoke about not only the making of “Demanufacture,” but how the album developed from previous recordings, which took us back to the early days of the group. Cazares recalled not only the bands he played in before Fear Factory, but also the bands that influenced Fear Factory. Unlike many groups that find a formula that works on the first album, the first record, “Soul Of A New Machine,” showed the band in a developing stage. “Demanufacture” was the result of a combination of influences from previous groups. Battle Path Releasing "Ambedo" On Cassette
Blackened doom metal band Battle Path is pleased to announce the release of "Ambedo" via Wood and Stone Productions. The album was previously released in 2015, but will now see a release on June 24th, 2016 on cassette format.
The band comments: "Ambedo was created in a very transitional period for the band. Founding member Chase moved away, and shortly after the recording of this record, we lost another founding member, Casey. These were all amicable splits, but there was definitely a period of adjustment. Chase was an integral writing partner, so it took a minute to find our bearings.
"After Chase left, we decided not to add another guitarist to fill his shoes, but instead the opportunity arose for a keyboardist. We soon realized the amount of texture that could be added to our sound and we utilized this very quickly. Musically, this record is quite different from our previous two releases, but we do feel it is overall the same vibe that we've always had. We utilized a different sonic palate for this record, but the songs required a different sound. So, we embraced that challenge and just went for it." More...

Oni Streaming "Eternal Recurrence"
In Japanese folklore, the Oni is a malevolent shape shifting demon, able to take on many guises as it spreads pain and misery. The constantly shifting, ever-evolving sound of Ontario, Canada's Oni is no less elusive, though unlike the group's namesake, amidst the brutality and violence is woven great beauty, and a breadth of heartfelt emotion.
Look for Oni's debut offering out late summer/early fall, which was produced by Josh Wilbur (Lamb of God, All That Remains). Oni is also currently out on tour as direct support to Devil You Know, and a brand new track titled "Eternal Recurrence" can be heard below. More...

The band had this to say: "The music and images take us on a hallucinatory voyage into the calyx of a flower on a sub microscopic level; a journey into the centre of nature and existence that delves deeper into the mysterious fractal realm, exploring the innermost reaches of the human psyche. As the limit of our perceptions break down, the underlying nature of reality is revealed in a crescendo of colour and motion, utilising a fusion of time-lapse photography, animation, CGI and live action."
