Trap Them Finishes Work On Album
Lauded as one of Decibel Magazine’s “Most Anticipated Albums of 2016,” the as-yet-untitled new album by Trap Them has been completed and is expected to be released worldwide this fall.
Once again, the band enlisted unofficial fifth member Kurt Ballou (Converge, Skeletonwitch) at GodCity Studios in Salem to capture an unrestrained, darkened hardcore sound. Co-founder/guitarist Brian Izzi says: “We’re psyched on how the album came out and can’t wait for you all to hear it. More info on that soon.”
The group has also announced two headlining shows on the East Coast in May. Adds Izzi, “New year, new set list. We added a bunch of ‘Darker Handcraft’ songs to our set that we haven’t played in a while. West Coast: It’s been way too long and we’re working on getting out there later this year. UK/Europe: Yep, Wokring on that too. See you all soon.”

In a collective description of the inspiration behind "Brute Force Lobotomy," the band notes: "Sometimes you just want to stab Uncle Lloydie in the eye with a blunt, rusty knife. Until he's dead. And then you stab some more... just to be sure..."
It's a fitting theme for "Return To Return To Nuke 'Em High Volume 2" which, keeping in the Troma tradition, is sure to relentlessly assault the audience with scenes of graphic horror hilarity.
"Return To Return To Nuke 'Em High Volume 2" is the long-awaited (LOL!) sequel to "Return To Nuke 'Em High Volume 1," and it is currently in the post-production stage, scheduled to be released in the summer of 2016. More...

Without Mercy Releasing "Mouichido"
It's been two years since Without Mercy's last EP "Reborn" savaged the lands of Canadian metal. After hitting the studio with a new vocalist Alex Friis (bass tracks recorded by Tristan Martin and live performance done by Ryan Loewen), the band is ready to unleash latest offering "Mouichido."
"Mouichido" is a re-release of re-recorded material from the 2014 EP "Reborn," including a guest appearance by vocalist Mark Hunter of Chimaira on track "In Waves," and is due out May 27th, 2016. Pre-orders are up now here.
Band founder and guitarist DJ Temple comments: "'Mouichido' is the Japanese word for 'repeat' or 'to do one more time.' We chose this as the title to signify the re-release of a previous version of this record. After the release 'Reborn,' we faced an issue with our vocalist, which caused us to part ways with him. On the advice of our legal team, we recorded the album again with our current vocalist in an effort to terminate possible legal action. More...
Wovenwar Enters The Studio
After releasing a self-titled debut in 2014 (reviewed here), Wovenwar has now entered the studio to record the follow-up album. A late summer/early fall 2016 release via Metal Blade Records is expected.
Wovenwar comments: "Recording for the second Wovenwar album is officially underway with the drum tracking being completed and the process moving into the guitar tracking phase. Several months worth of demos have been condensed into eleven new songs we are very proud of. The process found us expanding upon our melodic sound with a darker and more aggressive approach - utilizing elements restrained on our debut but familiar to our cumulative history.
"Nolly Getgood (Periphery) is onboard to handle mixing duties. We look forward to hearing how his versatile talents elevate our sound and direction. We're looking to have the recording process wrapped up in the next couple months and hope to have the album out sometime late summer/early fall. Until then please keep up with us on all band socials for updates."
Wovenwar features Jordan Mancino (drums), Nick Hipa (guitar), Phil Sgrosso (guitar) and Josh Gilbert (bass) of San Diego, California based metal act As I Lay Dying, and Shane Blay (vocals) of Oh, Sleeper. More...

Centinex Unveils "Doomsday Rituals" Cover Art
Swedish reformed death metal act Centinex is right in the middle of the recording process of the new full-length album and follow-up to 2014's "Redeeming Filth." Surprisingly reunited in 2014 after a nearly eight-year hiatus, the band didn't want to keep fans waiting another near-decade. The new album will be entitled "Doomsday Rituals" and today the band reveals the cover artwork, created by Bahrull Marta of Abomination Imagery.
"Doomsday Rituals" is being currently recorded at Wing Studios with Centinex's guitarist (and Demonical's vocalist in one), Sverker Widgren. As commented by the band's founder and mastermind, Martin Schulman: "Musically the album is a natural follow-up to "Redeeming Filth". Heavy riffing, deep brutal vocals, everything from slow via mid-tempo to faster stuff, a perfect mix of the early 90's Florida and Stockholm sound".

Whispered Unveils Details of New LP "Metsutan"
"Epic" is a descriptive term bandied about a lot these days, but nowhere can it be used more fittingly than in describing the upcoming release from Finland's Whispered! The masters of ‘Samurai Metal’ are back with third album "Metsutan – Songs of the Void," which is set for release on May 20th through Redhouse FMP/Inverse Records.
"Metsutan – Songs of the Void" is a complex masterpiece, addictive from the get-go. The band seamlessly fuse traditional Japanese instruments and atmospheres with Scandinavian melodic death making for a captivating listening experience throughout the album’s ten tracks.
Vocalist, guitarist and founding member of the band Jouni Valjakka talks on the lyrical themes explored on the album, “Similar to our last album Shogunate Macabre [2014], we move across many themes. We have songs about warriors, spirits, Japanese mythology and more. With this album we touch on a more spiritual side with our thematics... Strong concepts about determination, life, retribution and values of one overall.”
The band teamed up once again with talented Japanese artist TOK who not only perfectly encapsulates the band’s visions she also acted as a mentor to ensure the band stays true to the core Japanese themes and concepts they explore on the album.
“On this album TOK used a more ethnically authentic approach with the writing of kanji and the whole artwork," comments Jouni. "Such as song names being displayed in old Japanese 'seals'. TOK really understands the spirit of what we are trying to do, and lectures us about the visual aspects in Japanese culture.”
“Artwork on this album emphasises the story of the last and longest song on the album 'Bloodred Shores Of Enoshima', which is based on a Japanese mythology telling of a certain dragon and the goddess Benzaiten.” More...
