Weird Light Releasing "Doomicvs Vobiscvm"

Shadow Kingdom Records is proud to present a posthumous collection of French doom cult Weird Light. "Doomicvs Vobiscvm" is due out June 3rd, and Shadow Kingdom also comments:

"It's a damn shame this short-lived band couldn't have stayed together longer to put together a killer debut album for the label, but after years of communication, the band just couldn't see eye to eye on it. However, Shadow Kingdom is pleased to bring together Weird Light's sole recording, the 2007 demo 'Doomicvs Vobiscvm,' and add two previously unreleased tracks, making this that full-length that could not be.

"Everything you need to know about Weird light is in the title 'Doomicvs Vobiscvm:' this is ultra-doom of the highest order, balancing the eerie drama of classic Candlemass with the molten weight of prime Reverend Bizarre. Seriously, these four tracks are the BEST French doom metal songs ever created, and exactly how DOOM METAL should sound in all its forlorn glory!"

Nuke Inks Deal With Hells Headbangers

Today, Hells Headbangers announces the signing of Delta City madmen Nuke. Out of the wastes of Detroit will come the band's self-titled debut album for Hells Headbangers, slated for release later this summer. The label also issued this press release:

"With a virtual 'who's who' of Detroit metal-punk veterans, Nuke embodies the riffing of Restless and Wild alongside the attitude of Violence and Force or Branded and Exiled, but with an added sense of unique melodicism reminiscent of Di'Anno-era Iron Maiden. Whiskey-burned growls and maniacal high shrieks soar, while frantic nuclear divebomb solos explode stylistically somewhere between Kill 'Em All and Exorcist's Nightmare Theater. This isn't some retro-metal outfit comprised of pretty boys; this is ugly music made by ugly metal men from one of the ugliest cities in America.

"Riding the buzz of almost two sold-out pressings of their Delta City demo, Nuke completed their 'Nuke' debut album and immediately pitched it to Hells Headbangers. With Ritchie Riot from Shitfucker on vocals alongside members who've played in such cult bands as Reaper, Borrowed Time, Perversion, and Anguish, the label couldn't help but submit to the Delta City onslaught!

"Armed with a clear 'n' cutting production that doesn't sacrifice any grit or grime, Nuke explodes from the speakers with a nuclear assault of punk-infused speed metal, doomed for all time but anthemic as fuck and not going down without a fight. This is 100% metal death-or-glory that could've come out on Combat or Banzai back in the day, but infused with the wisdom of ages and ready for a street brawl. Inject Nuke and be forever corrupted!" Prisoner Of War Streaming "Rot"

"Fast beats and pummeling riffs from the arsehole of the world" - this is how New Zealand's Prisoner of War describes new mini-album "Rot," due to drop May 2nd via Iron Bonehead Productions. Today the title track comes online and can be heard below.

Prisoner of War self-produced an initial four-song demo entitled "Shit-filled Pit of Hell" in 2014, and in 2015 played a small handful of shows alongside such Australasian acts as Sinistrous Diabolous, Impetuous Ritual, Temple Nightside, Ulcerate, Skuldom, Vesicant, Trepanation, and Malevolence.

After a sudden burst of songwriting in 2015, Prisoner of War tracked the next batch of songs live in one afternoon, with extra guitar parts and vocals overdubbed subsequently. This material would make up the "Rot" EP and would see a significant step forward in songwriting, with more ambitious arrangements and a more cohesive production style.

Jim Breuer Releasing "Songs From The Garage"

Accomplished comedian Jim Breuer understands that comedy and heavy music have long made for great bedfellows. On "Songs From The Garage," Breuer delivers both in his inimitable style with longtime backing band The Loud & Rowdy.

The album is set for release May 27th via Metal Blade Records and includes special guests Brian Johnson (AC/DC), who provides vocals on two tracks, and producer/guitarist Rob Caggiano (Anthrax, Volbeat).

Breuer says, "Going into the record the music had to be killer and have great hooks, that was most important, and I wanted to balance that with something that's funny. I wanted to bring the smile back to hard rock that has a nice punch to it."

Backing Breuer up is The Loud & Rowdy with Mike Tichy on drums, Joe Vigliotti on bass, and Metal Mike on guitar. The "Songs From The Garage" track listing is as follows:

Gruesome Streaming "Forces Of Death"

The death metal disciples from Gruesmeon - the best metal newcomer of 2015 and featuring within its punishing ranks current and former members of Exhumed, Possessed, Malevolent Creation, and Derketa - just shared the first new song, "Forces Of Death," from upcoming EP, "Dimensions Of Horror."

Elaborates guitarist/vocalist Matt Harvey of the track: "We're totally psyched to bring you the first track from our new EP. This record, 'Dimensions Of Horror,' delves deeper into the roots of our favorite Floridian, Chuck Schuldiner, and revisits the days of Scream Bloody Gore and the numerous Death demos.

"We wanted to do something rawer, nastier and more primitive than 'Savage Land' and we hope you guys enjoy it and get into that gutter-level, early death metal head-space with us. So as you listen, close your eyes, imagine that you just got home from high school in 1987, ditched your Mongoose bike and ejected your brand new None Shall Defy cassette out of your Walkman to check your mailbox.

"Inside, there's a sixty-minute TDK tape in the mail from an overseas pen pal with the Insanity 1985 rehearsal on one side and a dub of this new 'mini-LP' on the other. You steal some of your dad's beer, light up a joint before your parents get home and pop this bad boy in the stereo while you watch a worn out, second generation VHS dub of The Beyond on mute on a 125-pound television. Now you're ready to enter the dimensions of horror and enlist in the forces of death." More...

Green Death Hitting The Road

With the core of the band playing together for well over a decade, Iowa’s Green Death has become a staple in the Midwest Metal scene.

The group's “big break” came in 2015 when Slipknot/Stone Sour vocalist Corey Taylor offered the band a slot on Knotfest in San Bernardino, CA and introduced Green Death to EMP label group A&R Thom Hazaert, who immediately sent the band’s material to David Ellefson.

On 4/1, (5/20 in Europe via SPV) EMP re-released sophomore LP "Manufacturing Evil," which the band celebrated this weekend at Wooly’s in Des Moines, with Ellefson even joining the band on stage in front of a packed house.

The remastered / remixed version of "Manufacturing Evil" also features a new version of “Gates of Hell” with guest vocals by legendary former Death Angel vocalist David Vincent. You can stream that new version below (David Vincent's PR agent Suzanne Penley, coincidentally, is quite unhappy with us at Metalunderground.com and on the war path over one of our April Fools jokes this year). Deranged Signs With Agonia

Cult Swedish death metal band Deranged has inked a deal with Agonia Records, with plans to record a new album this summer. The successor to "Cut Carve Rip Serve" from 2011 is expected to be released in the coming winter. Agonia comments:

"Deranged was formed in 1991 by a couple of bored teens in the southern parts of Sweden, that basically wanted to do something in their spare time. Inspired by the bloodiest and most violent bands of the period, like early Carcass, Napalm Death, Impetigo, Suffocation, and even bloodier horror movies, they started to grind.

"The early fascination proved to be a particularly long-lasting and fruitful one, with a short break between 2007 and 2009. Deranged is led by drummer Rikard Wermén, who's the band's mastermind and sole remaining member from the original 1991 line-up. With more than twenty years in the buiseness and eighth full-length albums under the belt, Deranged remains as one of the cult-status Swedish death metal acts around." More...
