Sabaton Announces New Studio Album

The Swedish heavy metal heroes from Sabaton are currently working on their new studio album, entitled "The Last Stand," which is going to be released worldwide on August 19th through Nuclear Blast. Pär Sundström comments:

"We once work again with Peter Tägtgren in his newly upgraded and top class Abyss studio in Sweden to record, produce and mix the album. The mastering will be done by Jonas Kjellgren who also works in the same building in nice Pärlby on the countryside of Sweden.

"Both 'Carolus Rex' and 'Heroes' was done in the same way and we feel very comfortable to return to the same place and people again. Fans will recognize the sound of the album as Sabaton, but we really feel we took it a step forward this time."

The artwork on the album is made by Peter Sallaí who has been with Sabaton since "Carolus Rex." Pär Sundström explains: "We had the idea to make an image reflecting soldiers of different times representing the different historical battles we sing about on the new album. This only reveals a small part of the album topics though."

"The concept of a last stand has always fascinated me, and both me and Pär were 'all in excited' about the subject so it was an easy choice to make," says vocalist Joakim Broden about the album title.

Sundström adds: "We have always several ideas for albums to work with. Since there are countless different views and angles of war, we will unfortunately never run out of ideas. We kinda felt that the last stand was something perfect for Sabaton. Something we really wanted to do. 'Heroes' was a perfect theme and 'The Last Stand' is right down our alley too. It was exciting to do the research." More...

Binary Code Posts "Moonsblood"

New Jersey progressive metal group Binary Code recently announced the May 24th release "Moonsblood," the full-length follow-up to 2009 release, "Suspension of Disbelief."

With a month to go before release, Binary Code just dropped a brand new lyric video for the title track "Moonsblood."

Guitarist Jesse Zuretti states: "On my end, the music was written during the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. We had no power for two weeks, the place I lived in was in total post-apocalyptic dismay. I wrote the song on acoustic guitar, oddly enough. I had just watched the movie 'Melancholia' by Lars Von Triers, which was about a planet colliding with Earth. I just tried to tie in a score of sorts to what I was surrounded by, coupled with the atmosphere of the movie. Oded's lyrics are certainly complimentary to the tone."

Engineered and mixed by Eyal Levi (August Burns Red, The Contortionist, Monuments) at Audiohammer Studios and mastered by Alan Douches (Suicide Silence, Dillinger Escape Plan, Converge) at West West Side Music, the album is up for pre-order here. The "Moonsblood" track listing is as follows:

1. Immersion
2. Trees 100ft Underwater
3. Dark Meditations
4. Moonsblood
5. Knell
6. Push
7. Cetacean
8. 707

Sanzu Posts "Tailor" Lyric Clip

"Heavy Over The Home" is the debut release from Perth, Australia's Sanzu. Initially self-released in 2015, "Heavy Over The Home "is now being re-issued worldwide via Listenable Records on CD and limited edition orange vinyl.

This updated version includes revised artwork as well as the "Painless" EP serving as bonus tracks, all due to be available on May 13th, 2016 in Europe followed by a North American release of May 20th,

In advance of its release, today an official new lyric video for the track "Tailor" come online. Issues vocalist Zachary Andrews of the track's lyrical components: "When I first heard this track, I was instantly struck by its mechanical sounding riffs. It sounded like archaic clock work to me. This gave me the strange mental image of the Seven Dwarfs gleefully working in unison, but inside some big evil factory in some twisted and grim setting.

"I started writing the lyrics for 'Tailor' set on condemning materialism and commercialism. This then led me to write a song about slave labor but halfway through I realized how hypocritical I was being when I looked back at all the stuff I use on a daily basis being rooted in that industry and culture. The song ended up taking a turn to be far more sarcastic than I had planned. I guess in the end I was purging some of my own guilt for buying crap that I don't need and turning a blind eye to it when convenient." More...

Black Absinthe Posts "Now" Single

Toronto, ON heavy metal trio Black Absinthe is surfacing from the basement to unleash new tunes from debut album "Early Signs of Denial." Check out the "Now" single below.

Bassist Kyle Scarlett comments on the new track: "'Now' is one of our favorites to play of the new songs. We wanted to build a song around a solid open chug you hear in a lot of NWOBHM. The chorus veers off from the old school metal vibe and comes back full force with some screams.

"The solo section was a lot of fun to work on in the studio, did a lot of layers and got it sounding mean. All in all a solid rager that gives ya little sections to breathe! To add, the lyrics are about the philosophy of time, thinking of what you want, but at the cost of what you have to do to get it."

"Early Signs Of Denial" was produced by Dave Baksh (Cross Dog, The Mahones) plus mixed and mastered by Frank Gryner (Rob Zombie- Hillbilly Deluxe). Set for release on May 13th, 2016, the album is the band's first professional recording and follows three self recorded EPs. More...

"I actually came in contact with Christophe through friends in black metal band Idolatry whom I had done pictures for and Peter is an icon in the black metal community in general, so I messaged him as I was really interested in a critic of my photos because he is one the most respected authorities in black metal photography. Germ Streams Full New Album

Australian blackened shoegaze artist Germ (aka multi-instrumentalist Tim Yatras) releases new album, "Escape," today via Prophecy Productions. In celebration, "Escape" is also streaming online in full today - listen in below.

"I can honestly say this has been the hardest album to ever complete for me, and it's also the darkest ('I'll Give Myself to the Wind' can be considered the pop song of the album for reference)," says Yatras, formerly of Woods Of Desolation, Austere, Naxul, etc. "At the end of the day, it stands as a moment in time in my life, and I truly believe it contains the strongest songwriting of any Germ album thus far."

Decisively autobiographical, "Escape" tackles a feeling of both internal and external imprisonment which strongly influenced Yatras during songwriting.

On the one hand, there is a mental illness that haunted him for years, suggesting he was trapped within his own mind. Today, he looks back thoughtfully on one of the gloomiest periods in his life: "At times it seemed there is no escape from it."

On the other hand, Yatras lives in a city and society he considers to be squalid, cold and alienated. "I don't feel a connection to this society and urban life, it doesn't fit in at all with my ideals," he jadedly admits. This fuels his wish to "escape". More...
