Barren Heir Releasing "Tired Turns" Album
"Tired Turns" is the debut full-length release from Barren Heir; the Chicago based post-metal trio who holster heaviness, ambience, and sludginess in this this ambitious debut. The following press release was also issued:
"Though comparable to bands the likes of Intronaut, Isis, Cult of Luna, and Chicago staples Russian Circles, Barren Heir have a sound all their own that's represented well in 'Tired Turns.' It's as sparse and raw as it is outright powerful. They display a certain manipulation of minimalism alongside their lavish, left-of-center writing approach.
"The full length is comprised of 5 blistering tracks, clocking in at 43 minutes total. The band's strong chemistry is apparent on the album's flagship cut 'Bertha,' and remains so until the album's visceral and powerful closer 'Sometimes' reaches its conclusion. Each instrument (guitar, bass and drums) carries equal weight in this debut. The band isn't so much as playing together as they are playing off each other, reminiscent of a cult followed band like Mare or Botch."
New release "Tired Turns" will be released digitally on May 3rd, 2016. The album was engineered and mixed by Pete Grossman at Bricktop Recording in Chicago, IL and mastered by Brad Boatright (YOB, Old Man Gloom) at Audiosiege in Portland, OR.
