Cripple Bastards To Play Obscene Extreme Fest
Italy's Cripple Bastards has been confirmed for the upcoming Obscene Extreme Festival. The following press release was also issued about the appearance:
"You could say this is a 'grindcore hat-trick' as it is the third OEF appearance in 2014 for Italian hate mob Cripple Bastards after headlining the insane Obscene Extreme Asia in Tokyo and Obscene Extreme Australia in Melbourne earlier this year. But if you really want to see the Bastards play at home, then Obscene Extreme Trutnov is the grounds for the final massacre. They have been blasting the shit on stage since the festival's birth back in 1999 and raised the most infernal stage diving pits for countless times through the years that followed.
"26 years after their conception Cripple Bastards still hold the banner high as Italy's most hostile and aggressive grind/hardcore unit around. With one foot firmly in the past and all the vicious savagery of manic fast 80's hardcore extremity, Cripple Bastards are also charging forwards. With bloodshot eyes and a rabid 'get out and bite them' attitude, this band are ready to introduce their brand new 2014 full length 'Nero In Metastasi' on Relapse Records and they will consolidate their ongoing mission of bringing nihilistic, fuck-you-all, grinding hatred to every corner of an underserving mankind. Cripple Bastards will also be introducing for the first time ever on Trutnov's Battlefield their 5 piece line-up with new axeman Wild Vitto on second guitar which will only enhance their wall of hate/grind fury!"
The Obscene Extreme Festival 2014 will take place from July 16th - 20th, 2014, with full details available right here. The confirmed lineup includes the following bands: More...

"Much has been written about enigmatic Swedish theatrical metal band Ghost B.C. — 'subversive,' 'refreshing,' 'blasphemous' — but even in all those countless reviews, interviews, and thinkpieces do we miss the words that properly encapsulate what it is about this clan of nameless ghouls that makes them so endlessly captivating, hooking listeners from the most disparate corners of music fandom.
"With a live show that more closely resembles a pre-apocalyptic occult ceremony than anything you might refer to as a 'concert,' the collective, helmed by current harbinger Papa Emeritus II, delivers spiritual awakening and religious deviance to their devoted followers. In the first episode of Papaganda, our mini-series on the cult of Ghost B.C., we explore the papal lineage, the reign of Emeritus II, and the future of the Ghost dynasty." More...
Autolatry Issues Band Update
Connecticut outfit Autolatry has checked in with the following update about lineup changes along with a change in sound:
"A substantial update regarding our status has been long overdue, so we thank you for your patience.
"Autolatry is now comprised solely of Dave Kaminsky, Matt Kaminsky, and Sean Hart, the three of which now share all vocal duties. Since the band’s beginning we have labelled ourselves as 'New England Black Metal,' but starting with 2014 that classification will no longer apply.
"While we cherish Autolatry’s earlier stages, our sound is progressing beyond the genre and conceptual limitations of black metal and the New England region. This year we plan to release a split with some of our favorite bands, as well as complete a full-length record over the summer months.
"Autolatry is actively seeking label partnership to help us bring both releases to fruition. All merch at our Storenvy site will be heavily discounted while we try to liquidate the last of our current CD and shirt stock.
"Thank you all for your support during these months of hibernation; we hope to share new music in recordings and live performances very soon!"

Barren Womb Posts New Music Video
Norwegian hardcore newcomer Barren Womb has debuted a new video for the song “Live Fast, Die” from the recently released album, "The Sun’s Not Yellow, It’s Chicken."
Check it out below, and you can also still stream the band's full new album at this location. Barren Womb also comments on the video:
“We wrote 'Live Fast, Die' around the time when we had just finished up 'On the Origin of Fæces' and it has been pretty much a constant in our live set ever since, so it seemed only natural that it should be the first song off the new record to have it's own video. The whole thing was shot by ourselves on a cold February morning in Trondheim. We wanted to show off the grimy bits of our wonderful city in a lo-fi wrapping. It was actually a lot of fun walking through the streets with Timo dressed up as a hobo with a big 'The end is nigh. Live fast, die.' cardboard sign taped on his chest, just watching how people reacted to it.” More...

The Lion's Daughter Releasing Split 7"
The St. Louis misery-makers in The Lion's Daughter, along with Memphis metallic hardcore unit Nights Like These, recently united for the release of a split 7" to benefit dog and cat rescue organizations.
The split will be released via Good Die Young/Encapsulated Records on May 27th and will be pressed in a limited quantity of 500 (250 - random colored splatter, 150 - black, and 100 limited-edition orange). Pre-orders are available at this location.
Serving as the following-up to The Lion's Daughter's "A Black Sea," the seven-inch features one new track from each band. 100% of the record's proceeds will go to organizations that save the lives of stray dogs and cats. This is made possible through the financial backing of Good Die Young Records, Encapsulated Studios, 4Hands Brewing, and Plush St. Louis, along with the pro bono recording talents of Gabe Usery and Matt Qualls, and artwork from A Black Sea photographer, Josh Rowan.
The Lion's Daughter vocalist/guitarist Rick Giordano comments, "The stray dog problem in St. Louis is completely out of control. Dogs wildly roam the streets starving, missing appendages, crawling with parasites, braving freezing winters and smoldering summers and generally exist in a constant living Hell. Many of us involved, including myself, have dogs that have been rescued from the streets so this is an issue that is near and dear to our hearts.
"The reports of abuse on these animals by humans is beyond repulsive. These dogs have been shot, beaten, burned alive, and a variety of other horrors too terrible to mention. We're a very misanthropic band for these exact kinds of reasons. Human beings can be cruel and disgusting creatures. And dogs are fucking awesome. Anyone who's ever bonded with a dog and felt the love that these companion animals are capable of knows this, but still so many needlessly suffer. More...

Kampfar Streaming New Song
Norwegian black metal band Kampfar has released the track "En Hymne Til Urd" ("A Hymn for Earth"), which can be heard below.
"En Hymne Til Urd" is the band's contribution to the forthcoming "One And All, Together, For Home," set to be released via Season Of Mist on May 23rd (5/27 in North America).
Regarding the new track, Kampfar commented: "Former guitarist Thomas Andreassen shaped Kampfar's sound by taking his piano roots and translating them to the guitar. The song 'Hymne,' which appeared on the only demo the band recorded, is perhaps the clearest example of his connection between classical music, old Norwegian folk music and black metal. The lyrics on the song were lifted from the Norse poem 'Voluspå.' In this reinterpretation of the song the band revisits several of the melodies from the original song while also bringing back pieces of the 'Voluspå' poem. Vocals by Ask Ty."
The "One And All, Together, For Home" compilation was assembled by Drudkh main-man Roman Sayenko, and brings together a group of renowned European metal bands to pay homage their distinct, unique heritages. Each band employs their own means to find and present their respective cultural roots to the world via song. The eight appearing artists contribute a total of 17 tracks in the form of traditional song interpretations, cover versions of folk artists, or the use of themes and melodies from their musical heritages in original compositions.
The band lineup consists of:
Primordial (Ireland)
Drudkh (Ukraine)
Ava Inferi (Portugal)
Kampfar (Norway)
Winterfylleth (England)

Whitechapel Releases New Lyric Clip
Whitechapel's new album "Our Endless War" draws nearer, with the official release coming April 29th via Metal Blade Records. Today you can see a lyric video for the title track below, thanks to Artist Direct.
Vocalist Phil Bozeman commented on what inspired him to write the song: "The focus behind the song 'Our Endless War' is not what a lot of people believe it to be. A lot of people will think it's just a stab at our government but it's more than that. The United States as a whole has been in this sort of downward spiral for quite some time now. It has to do with just us as a nation; our citizens, government, culture, etc.
"I truly feel like we are becoming those 'stupid Americans' that we are stereotyped as because of things like reality TV, gluttony, our healthcare system, school shootings and so many other things. I've been around the world and seen how different countries treat each other. It seems as though they are truly 'united' as one whereas it seems like we hate each other. I love my country and my freedom and I will always be a patriotic citizen of the United States but I'm scared of what the future holds for our generations to come. It seems as though we are fighting an endless war and we will never find that victory." More...

At that time we couldn´t find the right grooves for it and after changing the arrangement a million times, it was too late for that album. Now, after re-visiting the tune two years later, it came out naturally. It was real fun for us to turn up the volume and kick it out roughly, a good marker for our future."
