Gloryful Posts Track-By-Track Breakdown

Gloryful's new album "Ocean Blade" will be released on April 25th, 2014 via Massacre Records. The album was mixed by Dan Swanö and mastered by Powerwolf's guitarist Charles Greywolf. Kris Verwimp is responsible for the cover artwork.

Today drummer Hartmut Stoof has released a new track-by-track breakdown covering the second half of the album. Here's what Stoof had to say about the album:

Black Legacy: Black Legacy is more or less the ballad on the album. It contains many folk influences and some instruments from this specific period. This song is musically and lyrically meant as the calm before the storm.

All Men To The Arms: This one is also very strong and powerful, expressing an overflowing energy. As the title suggests, this song is a call - for the crew to fight and for you out there to bang your head and raise your fist! The drumming and guitar picking reinforce the lyrics, that describe the battle between the crew and mighty Sedna in the first part of this song. Lyrical based stops in the chorus create catchy hooklines. As you will recognize, the second half is completely different, starting with a guitar solo and a typical Manowar-styled verse, leading to the chorus, in which the title is demandingly sung. To put the final touches to the song, Adrian Weiss performs a killer guitar solo.

Sadhak Releasing EP On Shadow Kingdom

Melancholic doomsters Sadhak have just released their self-titled debut digitally and on limited edition cassette through Shadow Kingdom Records. The two-track, 18-minute release is limited to 100 copies and available as a special shirt/cassette package. Both songs from the "Sadhak" release may be streamed below as well. Shadow Kingdom's Tim McGrogan discusses this diamond in the rough:

"In 2006, there was what we feel a groundbreaking doom metal album from a long time underground doom metal band, Warning (from the UK). The album 'Watching from a Distance' was a melodramatic earth shattering experience. Shortly after the group disbanded, the act's mastermind started a new band called 40 Watt Sun, which was a continuation of that sound.

Because both of those bands were still relatively underground, there weren't too many others jumping ship to play this style because quite frankly it's not easy to create this sound and style. So now we are thrilled to introduce to you Sadhak from Norway!

This is a side band created by Andreas Hagen from High Priest Of Saturn. We've been craving for something like this for a long, long time now and let me say this has certainly hit the spot! What a great start for this group! The sky is the limit now for Sadhak to grow into something truly special. Do NOT miss out on this!"

Super Massive Black Holes Posts New Song

Canadian experimental Metalists Super Massive Black Holes will release "Calculations of the Ancients" on April 29th via Minotauro records. Stream album track "(Sub-molecular) Transmogrification of the Oriphy" from the upcoming nine-song endeavor below in the player. Guitarist Denver Bergreen (ex-Chaos Logic) had this to say about the upcoming album:

"It was a total DIY effort. Everything was produced by myself, from artwork and layout, to engineering/mixing/mastering. The lyrics are based around science theories (be they real, fictitious, or conspiracy), and often wrap around metaphorically to human experiences (beliefs, insecurities, questions about the world around us.) The music is meant to zig-zag across genres, while still holding root within the composition as a whole. To express every possible emotion in the best way we could think of."

Tyranny Signs To Dark Descent

Finnish funeral doom metal band Tyranny has signed with Dark Descent Records for the release of the band's long-awaited follow up to 2005's "Tides of Awakening." The as-of-yet-untitled album is scheduled for release later this year. The band commented:
