This week an eclectic group of videos featuring bad ass women, potential kidnappings and answering the question no one asked: Why do escalators move so slow?
Axel Rudi Pell has released a new video for the song "Long Way To Go," taken from the guitarist's latest album "Into The Storm." The video starts like an indie movie, a boring indie movie. We see city like scenes and then an escalator. Is the escalator a metaphor for life and the “long way to go?” Maybe it just means some escalators are way to slow and this song is about how long it takes. If so, I understand…
"Loom," the debut full-length from Gainesville, FL post-hardcore quintet Frameworks, is streaming in full below, courtesy of Stereogum.com, in advance of the April 29th release date via Topshelf Records.
The album was recorded by Jack Shirley (Deafheaven, Joyce Manor, Comadre) in his Atomic Garden Studios in San Francisco and sees Frameworks sprawling into more experimental territory.
Topshelf Records will be offering $5 downloads of "Loom" via Bandcamp through May 5th. You can also catch the band live on these dates: More...
Ear One Productions and Lounge SevenZeroEight Photography are casting for the second video from When The Deadbolt Breaks' new album "Drifting Toward The Edge of the Earth," release in October through Ear One Productions.
This May the American psychedelic doom masters will be teaming up with videographer Charlie Winthal once again to begin shooting this video. Following the success of the band's first video for "Sleeps in Burning Hills" (available below), which was also directed by Winthal, the band is gearing up to make the follow-up a true visual spectacle for the track "The Woods Are Full Of Killers."
Singer/guitarist Aaron Lewis states: "The video idea coincides with a photo shoot I plan to do. It will be dark, and terrifying."
Lounge SevenZeroEight Photography is seeking four female models to appear in the video and the accompanying photo shoot. The video is a horror themed jaunt, and will feature nudity. The video shoot is being scheduled for mid May, at a location in Connecticut. Interested parties can contact: LoungeSevenZeroEight@gmail.com. Please include a full body shot of yourself and any links to any modeling websites you have been featured on. Title the email "708 Video Shoot." More...

Check it out below, courtesy of Terrorizer.com. The following press release was also issued:
"The band's second overall recording (and first proper album), 'This Place That Contains My Spirit' was written over the course of three years. Much time and effort was put into writing and recording the album to uphold the original conception of the music. In addition to guitars and drums, a variety of instruments were used, including a Roland Juno-60, bass guitar, classical guitar, and ocarina. The album reflects a yearning to reconnect with the spirit of the natural world in a time when that connection is quickly dissolving."
The track listing is as follows:

Sweden's pack of heavy metal stalwarts in Wolf return with their seventh studio album entitled "Devil Seed."
This time around, the wolves have teamed up with Jens Bogren (Kreator, Paradise Lost, Opeth) over at Fascination Street Studios, with cover artwork being created once again by designer Thomas Holm (Mercyful Fate, King Diamond).
"I haven't been this pleased with the songs on a Wolf album since the release of Black Wings, which scored 10/10 in Rock Hard magazine," says founding member Niklas Stalvind. "I really think we have taking our songwriting to the next level on this one and I hope that the metal fans will love it as much as we do."
Century Media Records will unleash "Devil Seed" on August 25th in Europe and September 2nd in North America. Then, a short time later, Wolf will take to the streets with a tour of the U.K. with further European dates to be announced soon. More...
Drummer Buster Odeholm of Swedish outfit Humanity's Last Breath has checked in with the following announcement about parting ways with the other members of the band:
"This is Buster. I have some bad news, the band (not me) is taking an hiatus for an unknown period of time. The band has realized that they are unable to play live due to different obligations in their lives, this led to the decision that HLB will be a one-man-band featuring yours truly.
"I am working on an EP this time around and it will be released with another vocalist. Since I write 90% of the stuff there will be no major change in the music more than my personal progression as a songwriter.
"One more thing! I'm helping out the guys in Vildhjarta with drum duties in France and Switzerland next week! So come by and hang out!" More...
As the New Jersey-based metal quartet Torrential Downpour prepares for the release of new full-length album "Truth Knowledge Vision," due out June 10th, a new song from the eleven track opus has found its way online.
The song "Satan, Whatever…" can now be streamed in its entirety below, courtesy of Metal Insider.
With a history that spans across nearly two decades, the members of Torrential Downpour - PrKr (vocals), Matt Cece (Bass), Jason Volpe (guitar), and Pete Costa (drums) - continue to copiously churn out new music that characterizes their own unique blend of technical and progressive metal infused with post rock tendencies.
The group's third full-length album was recorded, mixed, and mastered by Kevin Antreassian (Dillinger Escape Plan, The Binary Code, The Number 12 Looks Like You) at Backroom Studios in Rockaway, NJ.
“Our new album - Truth Knowledge Vision touches on areas and sounds not usually focused on in heavy music, and with the track ‘Satan, Whatever…’ we specifically call out the genre we embrace,” says Volpe. “It's our way of stripping the stigmas from a genre that gets pigeonholed too often. Years of crafting and experimenting has culminated in this recording and we are very excited for people to hear what we have put together.” More...
Iron Bonehead Productions has set May 30th as the international release date for SwarÞ's "Omines Pestilentiae" collection. The label issued the following press release:
"SwarÞ are the embodiment of 'obscure,' in all senses of the word. No info is known about the band - their membership, location of origin beyond 'international,' even their year of origin - nor do any photos exist of the band.
"More importantly, their sound is obscure: across three recordings released during 2012 and 2013, this enigmatic maw of sound have secretly built a defiant form of blackened death metal as miasmic as it is magisterial, and infinitely hypnotizing like no other. Absolute ritualism, SwarÞ's two demos - 2012's self-titled demo and the following year's 'Tayl is Deep purgh pyn Envenymynge' - are collected with the Mors Rex Salvator Hominum tape EP as a double-vinyl LP entitled Omines Pestilentiae.
"The 2LP 'Omines Pestilentiae' will be presented in a gatefold edition of 500 copies, including an eight-page booklet. A tome/tomb like no other, open/enter SwarÞ's Omines Pestilentiae and lose/find the Shadow Self..."

The 3rd album from Mortalicum, titled "Tears from the Grave," will be released via Metal on Metal Records this coming April 25th at the Keep It True festival, which has became a tradition for the Swedish doom rockers (their debut was released at KIT 2010 and the second release came at KIT 2012).
According to the label, "It's their most doomy release with longest and slowest songs, full of soulful melodies, but those who loved their more hard rocking side need not worry, as it's still very much present here - the more upbeat songs have really infectious riffs and just call for headbanging. The album radiates with '70s and '80s warm vibe that will surely please fans of Black Sabbath, Grand Magus, Candlemass, Trouble, Spiritual Beggars, Rainbow, Thin Lizzy, and the like..."

U.S. death metal outfit Autopsy and MetalSucks.net have teamed up to exclusively launch a page from the band's upcoming digital comic book release, "Autopsy: Feast for a Funeral" (the page can also be seen below).
Additional details about "Autopsy: Feast for a Funeral" will be revealed on the E-Comix Twitter account on Wednesday, April 30th.
"If I had to summarize this comic book in a sound bite, it would be to say 'Food tastes better screaming.' There's your visual," President and Publisher of E-Comix, Vince Brusio, told MetalSucks. "Carnage unseen since old school '80s splatter films. This book is brutal because Autopsy is brutal. So consider yourself warned, kids. No apologies. No regrets."
As with the publisher's first title ("Dying Fetus: Supreme Violence"), "Autopsy: Feast for a Funeral" is full authorized by the band. The comic book tells the tale of college kids who make a terrible mistake: one for which they must suffer, and pay in blood. When they play with stolen property at an impromptu field party, they open a doorway that allows spirits into our material world.
A rescue is planned, but none of this is made known to a rival biker gang that doesn't appreciate their turf trampled on by strangers. Seeking vengeance, the gang approach an old abandoned house to wreak havoc on their party crashers, and learn too late that once the door to Hell is opened, it can't be closed.
Aside from "Autopsy: Feast for a Funeral," the iconic death metal band is currently gearing up for the release of its seventh studio album, "Tourniquets, Hacksaws and Graves," out April 29th on Peaceville. More...
Reared on a hefty diet of 80's glam rock Americana, the rock 'n' roll sensation Santa Cruz today releases a debut North American single "We Are The Ones To Fall" today via Spinefarm Records.
Santa Cruz was formed in 2007, inspired by such greats as Skid Row and Guns 'n' Roses. After a few line-up changes and two demos the boys Taz (20, drums), Archie (20, lead vocals & lead guitars), Middy (20, bass) and Johnny (21, lead guitars) released a self-produced EP titled "Anthem For The Young 'n' Restless" (2011). The band then played well over a 100 shows and scored a worldwide record deal with Spinefarm Records.
"We Are The Ones To Fall" is just a sampling of what people can expect from these young rockers. Look out for music to be released in the coming months and the band's new full-length album in 2015 on Spinefarm Records. More...

20 Buck Spin will soon flood the planet with the blazing and harrowing "Transience" EP, the debut recording from anonymous black metal/grindcore quartet, Dead In The Manger.
"Transience" is due out on MLP and digital formats in North America on April 29th and in Europe on May 2nd.
With just six songs in less than twenty minutes -- succinctly named Parts I-VI -- Transience melds atmospheric and pentatonic melodies into a maelstrom of bleak, scalpel-sharp, maximum BPM aggression and multiple stab wounds of hate-driven malcontent.
Metal On Metal Records has issued the following announcement about releasing a new album from Meliah Rage:
"The 8th full-length from the U.S. power/thrash veterans in Meliah Rage was supposed to be out last year, but apart from finding a new vocalist, the band didn't have much luck, in particular due to health problems of the guitarist Anthony Nichols (who underwent 2 surgeries for herniated disc last June, and in December suffered severe wrist injury requiring multiple plates and screws). It will still take months before they can play live again, as besides the broken bones, Anthony's tendons and nerves will need recovery time, but at least their new CD 'Warrior' is finished and will be released on April 25th through Metal on Metal Records.
"The new album is more in-your-face and aggressive than their last one, mostly thanks to the new singer, whose vocals, while being pretty versatile, are less melodic, but the band's trademark intricate dual guitar harmonies and melodic interludes are still there of course. They have delivered a solid, hook-filled album, and show they can still pack a punch."
Vocalist Marc Lopes created a lyric video for "I Am the Pain," which can be seen below. You can hear more from the album and also pre-order "Warrior" over at the Metal On Metal website.
The album art was designed by award-winning artist Martin Bouchard "Fitto" and painted by Alec Dowie. The "Warrior" track listing is as follows:

4. When We Wake
5. A Dying Day

“We have left no stone unturned in terms of sound quality and production and I think we have also taken another very large step with regards to song writing maturity.
"As always we all recorded our musical parts separately in our own studios and then brought all the files back to David Bellion’s studio for mixing.

The tour kicks off tonight in Madrid, and will see both bands travel through nine countries before concluding on May 8th in Tilburg as part of this year's Neurotic Deathfest. A full list of confirmed tour dates can be found below.
Gorguts recently finished a sting on the Decibel Magazine North American tour alongside Carcass and The Black Dahlia Murder. The band is touring in support of new album "Colored Sands" (reviewed here).
Regarding the kick off, Gorguts main-man Luc Lemay comments: "It is with great joy that we eagerly await to get to Europe to meet each of you to share the music of 'Colored Sands.' When we toured Europe in the summer of 2012 it was the band’s second European tour in 19 years! So we need to catch up with you Metalheads! When we were told that the tour would happen with our label mates Misery Index, I couldn’t be happier!! I remember hearing 'Traitors' for the first time, and I was a fan right away!! I cannot wait to share the stage with them. This will be great!!"
Misery Index guitarist Jason Netherton adds: "We are really looking forward to hitting Europe with our label-mates and brothers Gorguts for these shows and festivals. Nothing but good times await! Norway's black metal heroes in Den Saakaldte return with a refined sound and a second brand new song entitled "Endelost Ode."

Den Saakaldte steps out of the shadows after five long years of strengthening its dark musical identity and defining a more grim musical approach. Built upon intense and heavy emotions and featuring members of Gorgoroth, 1349, Koldbrann and Nidingr, "Kapittel II: Faen i Helvete" is the band's most complete work to date. The album combines doom and black metal elements with clean vocals, spoken parts and obscure atmosphere.
The successor to "All Hail Pessimism" (2009) was recorded in Strand Studio in February 2014. The album will be available as a 3 panel digipack CD, digitally and on vinyl (in three versions: black, blue and red). Pre-orders are available at this location. The track listing is as follows:

Comments vocalist/guitarist Ollie Jones: “There is no particular theme to this album but several of the songs are set in the graveyard. We've tried to hit the gore and perversion extremities that we’ve touched on from the start of the bands career but now we are playing better than ever. We've gone for a natural drum sound and generally keeping it old school as that's what we are fans of.”
"Cemetery Sickness" was recorded at Sonic Forge Studio in Cardiff, Wales and was produced by Joe Thompson. The track listing is: More...

Finnish outfit Morbid Vomit has issued the following announcement about parting ways with the band's drummer:
"Unfortunate news: Teppo Ristölä is no longer part of Mörbid Vomit. We want to thank Teppo for these years and wish him all the best for his future. We will continue as a trio and with "hired guns" behind the drumkit until we find the fourth member."
Teppo's comments: "This is not an easy thing for me to announce, but the time has come for me to leave Mörbid Vomit and step forward for new challenges. Something really happened in the band after the former bass player left. I am not going to unfold this too precisely in public, but I have to say that the last year in Mörbid Vomit was the hardest year of my career playing in bands.
"The incidents during Easter last weekend were the last nails to my coffin. From now on I promise to myself that I will do stuff only with people who appreciate my effort for real. Big thanks to everyone involved for the awesome gigs I was allowed to play with Mörbid Vomit!
"Special thanks to: Steelfest crew, Toni Törrönen (The Damager), Blastfest, The Crescent, Damngod, Church Of The Dead, Mikko Mäkinen (Metallihelvetti), Janne Honkanen (Balbex), Santeri Pienimäki (Crescent cymbals), Phil (Cosmic Ears) and of course my family and friends!"
Right on the heels of offering the new track “Implode,” the band’s first new studio recording in five years (the track can be downloaded for free at this location), Slayer has announced that the band has signed on with Nuclear Blast Records.
Later this year, Slayer will begin recording a new album, tentatively set for an early 2015 release date. The album will make Slayer history as it will be released on Nuclear Blast Records through the band’s own label imprint, closing out a 28-year relationship with Rick Rubin and American Recordings. No name for the imprint has been decided on yet. All future recordings on the band's label imprint will be released worldwide exclusively through Nuclear Blast.
“Rick has played a huge role in our career, we’ve made some great albums with him,” said Slayer’s Tom Araya. "But today is a new day, record companies don’t play the kind of role they once did, and we really like the idea of going out on our own, connecting directly with our fans, and Nuclear Blast is fired up about taking on that challenge with us."
“I was a teenage rebel when 'Show No Mercy' came out,” said Markus Staiger, owner of Nuclear Blast, "and I identified with that record. It was the most extreme, aggressive thing at the time. They were then and still are the most brutal metal band on the planet! I really cannot express how proud I am that we are able to work with Slayer to join the Nuclear Blast family. We are ready for that next record and, I’m sure it will go into metal history!”
Added Nuclear Blast label manager Gerardo Martinez, "The prospect of helping Slayer take a leading role in the creative process surrounding their releases, projects and other cross-promotional opportunities is the ultimate honor for me, a metalhead who grew up in Los Angeles listening to Slayer. Nowhere in my wildest dreams would I have imagined that Nuclear Blast would be making history alongside one of the best bands in metal.”
Slayer - Tom Araya/vocals, bass, Kerry King/guitar, drummer Paul Bostaph, and Gary Holt who continues to stand in for the band’s founding guitarist Jeff Hanneman - will spend the next few months on the road touring major North American and European festivals as well as headlining dates, sharing the stages with Metallica, Iron Maiden and more (see below), but is expected to be back in the studio in the fall to record the rest of the new album. Finnish power metal act Stratorvarius released a preview clip for the upcoming live release "Nemesis Days." The CD/DVD is set for release on May 2nd via earMusic and contains the entire "Nemesis" studio release (along with two bonus tracks) (see review here) and a DVD featuring an 80 minute documentary entitled "Nemesis Days." The documentary follows Stratovarius around the world on the "Nemesis" tour.
The press release reads: "There is no other word than 'magic' to explain what inspire an artist to create and one great song after the other, and to find the inspiration to fix on a record more than a special moment in each and every of songs. It happens very rarely nowadays, especially in metal and especially for bands with so many albums in their discography to be compared to. 'Nemesis' is the album that brought the mysterious magic in Stratovarius' life. The album blew everyone away and set the beginning of another start in the long history of the Finnish band.
"With the incredible sense for melodies and their powerful and technically elaborated style, the band once more visited the "higher floors" of the charts worldwide (Finland: #3, and basically top 40 in every country in the world). The song 'Unbreakable' immediately became one of the bands' most streamed songs ever, with thousands of fans enjoying it every single day since its release.
"Throughout 2013, the band dedicated their energy to the 'Nordic Nexus Of Nemesis Tour' and delivered their dedicated fans with unforgettable live performances everywhere they went. "The 80 minute documentary "Nemesis Days" follows Stratovarius around the world and gives an in-depth view of Finland's finest metal band, revealing the story of 'Nemesis' and sharing their view about the evolution of the band. The fans who have remained loyal to the band for so many years are also an important part of this documentary DVD.

Legendary thrash act Slayer has offered up the new track "Implode," the first new studio track since "World Painted Blood" was released in 2009, as a free download. "Implode" is also the first track released since the loss of Jeff Hanneman back in May 2013.
The track was performed at the Revolver Golden Gods Awards held at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles, when Slayer surprised the capacity crowd with an unannounced performance, kicking off the show with a three-song set. The song was recorded earlier this month at Henson Studios in Los Angeles and produced by Terry Date and co-produced by Greg Fidelman and is offered as a "thank you" to the band’s fans for their continued support.
Kerry King commented: "Hey, Mutherfuckers - You have been waiting for us, now we are delivering for you. We’ve got a brand new song - “Implode” - it’s Slayer's first new song since “World Painted Blood” was released back in 2009 - and we want you guys to hear it, so we’re giving it away for free. All you have to do is go slayer.net/implode, enter your email address and we’ll send you the download link. We’re writing and recording more new music, so keep coming back here and we’ll tell you how it’s going. And hey, we’re hitting the road next month with Suicidal Tendencies and Exodus - WE WANT TO FUCKING SEE YOU THERE!" (see tour dates here).
