Protest The Hero has checked in with the following announcement about bassist Arif Mirabdolbaghi missing upcoming tour dates:
"Arif has decided that the touring schedule we have signed up for to support Volition is more intense than what he is prepared to commit. He is actively involved with other projects at home and being a full time band member isn't a practical thing.
"Though he has and will be missed out on the road with his brothers, everything was left on a positive note and we are open to his involvement down the road and only time will see how it all plays out.
"In the meantime, our longtime friend and tourmate Cam McLellan will be filling in on bass duties for the rest of the cycle. As an amazing musician, co-writer and producer of Volition, he is more than capable to pick off where Riffy left off.
"Don't fret, Cam's working on his giant happy smile and well placed high kicks during our set!" More...

After having all their gear stolen on the road, Nero Di Marte and Void of Sleep have launched a crowd funding campaign to buy new equipment and record a split release. Full details are available right here, and Nero Di Marte comments:
"As some of you may know, on Sunday March 23rd after a show in Rome, Nero di Marte and Void of Sleep were robbed of all their instruments and gear.
"In less than 30 minutes someone broke into our van and was able to take everything. It happened in broad daylight near a police station in Rome, despite there being a massive amount of police forces surveilling the area but, alas, no security cameras.
"Guitars, amps, pedalboards, drums, merchandise and personal belongings… a total amount of 25.000€ was stolen from both bands. They took everything.
"The sad reality of this situation is that without any instruments we cannot continue as a band. We can’t play, rehearse, tour, record a new album.
"It took us years to buy our gear, and to start from absolutely nothing, without any help, means paralyzing anything we could do for a long time or seriously put ourselves into debt beyond what we can afford.
"In the last few days we’ve received hundreds of messages and phone calls from friends and strangers; you’ve amazed us with your support, comprehension and indignation towards what happened.
"You helped us get back on our feet and empower us to immediately react to what happened, and for this we thank you.
"We want to get back to what we know how to do best, play music, and we cannot do it without your help. More...

Finnish black metal outfit Sargeist today streams the entirety of fourth album, "Feeding the Crawling Shadows" (reviewed here), which was released yesterday on W.T.C. Productions.
Give it a listen below, courtesy of Noisey.Vice.com. The following press release was also issued about the album:
"While predecessor Let the Devil In was indeed hailed far and wide as a masterpiece, the coven of Sargeist is always lurking where no light dwells, brewing potent spells more diabolical than the last, and this solemn commitment is played out across the ten tracks that comprise Feeding the Crawling Shadows.
"Instantly recognizable as Sargeist - and particular, the malign riff-majesty of the ubiquitous Shatraug (Horna, Behexen, et. al) - here, the quartet go a concertedly rawer route, but with no sacrifice in quality. If anything, their freezing landscapes penetrate the soul that much deeper. As such, Sargeist have once again topped themselves, delivering yet another masterpiece of purest black metal magick in Feeding the Crawling Shadows."

Graves At Sea will drop the "This Place Is Poison" twelve-inch EP upon the living this Spring via the menace merchants at Eolian Empire. We hope you enjoyed our April fools stories yesterday as much as we did! In our long-standing tradition, we devoted the entire day to fake news and spoofs. We had fun writing them despite the fact that we can't really fool most of you in our twelfth year of the tradition, even when we start off with some very plausible (yet fake) stories. In case you missed them, you can read yesterday's April Fools stories here.
Promises of a Metallica's new album details and Tim Lambesis' escape from jail (despite being out on bail untl his sentencing hearing on May 2nd) and K.K. Downing re-joining Judas Priest, among many others, were too much for readers to pass up.
To those who got all worked up about it, we've been doing this for a LONG time now. The bands that get spoofed are either easy targets or ones that we like. And sometimes the stories practically write themselves! It's all in good fun, and no harm is intended.
