Mongrel Signs To Unable Records

The female-fronted hard rock band Mongrel has inked a deal with independent record label Unable Records, based in southern New Jersey, for the release of the “Evolution” EP in June. Unable Records comments:

"For Mongrel, noted as the hardest working band in Boston by Metal Edge Magazine, this signing represents the next logical step on their path forward. Since the addition of lead singer Jessica Sierra, Mongrel has been an unstoppable force, taking the bars and hard rock venues of the eastern U.S. by storm. Show after show, release after release, Mongrel has consistently proven that they are among the best bands active in the scene today.

"Dan Nelson, formerly of Anthrax, has said, 'Mongrel is more than punk, more than metal, they tread the line somewhere in between; a rare musical hybrid that brings the listener into their dangerous and heavy world, then keeps them there with beautiful and unapologetic force.'

"A professional and dedicated band that has already put out amazing records to wide critical acclaim, Mongrel and Unable Records are poised to raise the bar yet again with the June release of the five-song EP entitled 'Evolution.' Aptly named, this latest effort by Mongrel was recorded by Jim Foster (POD, Nullset, Sully Erna) and mixed by Dave Fortman (Slipknot, Evanescence, Godsmack). Famed engineer Howie Weinberg, who has worked with bands like Metallica, Nirvana, Sound Garden, and Pantera, mastered 'Evolution,' bringing huge production value to the outstanding song writing and musicianship that has made Mongrel fan-favorites everywhere they go. Hrizg Announces Album Release

Moribund Records has announced June 22nd as the release date for Hrizg's "Individualism" album. The label comments:

"Ever aptly titled, Individualism sees this one-man black metal cult perfecting his iron-willed, iron-clad craft, contorting the otherworldly mysticism of ancient black metal to his own isolationist design.

"Compared to 2011's celebrated Anthems to Decrepitude, Hrizg's Individualism drives at both extremes - classic grimness vs. tense atonality - but arrives at a destination no less sepulchral and dynamic. Enter the realm of Individualism..."

The track listing is as follows:

I. Bellum Omnium Contra Omnes (1:24)
II. The Darkness I Witness (3:31)
III. No Life After Life (3:25)
IV. To Leave the Roots Grow... (1:48)
V. Night of the Wolf (4:45)

VII. The Hall of Falseness and Impurity (4:44)
VIII. The Strong Against the Stronger (2:57)
IX. From Endless Blackness (4:24)
X. With a Crown of Bitterness (5:27)
XI. The Lament of God (4:53)

Hrizg mainman Erun-Dagoth also states: "I did Individualism as a call for the inner strength against those ones who crawl through the scene holding the banner of weakness. Hrizg plays black metal for the strongest of the strong!" More...

Fatum Aeternum Announces Lineup Changes

Following the 2012 release of “The Sermon,” Fatum Aeternum is releasing a new single and announces two new band mates: George Falk (guitars) and Igor May (drums). The band comments:

"After one year of hiatus and creative search, Fatum Aeternum are back with renewed line-up and a new single 'One Bastard.' The work was done by Alexander and Vitaly Zvulun in A.G Studio in Tel-Aviv, which became the residency of leading metal and underground bands of Israel, including such acts as The Fading, Desert and Deface.

"First formed in 2006, the band went through major changes of line-up and genres of alternative music, though always acquired a recognizable style in both music and live appearance. Another important principle the band always followed and still does - is the highest priority of live shows, which made the band mainly live act for a few years."

Bassist/keyboardist/vocalist Steve Gershin commented the latest news: “We’ve been through a lot during 2013 and the beginning of 2014. We left the 'big city' of Tel-Aviv to the suburban Haifa where we found the peace of mind for creating and experimenting, as well as great musicians and friends to work with. Although at first we planned on recording a full-length album (considering we have enough material), eventually we decided to take one song at a time, picking the best ones and making each of them as great as possible. It also gives us the freedom to exploit one of the most prominent features of our music – eclecticism, combination of various styles. It’s all in our style, but might seem awkward when gathered on one CD.” More...

Warlord (U.K.) Signs To Xtreem Music

It is with great pride that Xtreem Music announces the addition to its roster of U.K. death metal outfit Warlord for the release of "We Die As One" this coming June. The label comments:

"Formed back in 1993, releasing two demos and signing to Nuclear Blast with whom they released their acclaimed debut album 'Maximum Carnage' in 1996, the band later did split in '98 and reformed in 2008 releasing a 2nd album entitled 'Evil Within' in 2010 on british label Copro Rec. and a 3rd sef-financed album 'We Die As One' in 2013.

"It was this 3rd work the one that caught the attention of Xtreem Music that offered a deal to the band and after months of negotiations, we're honoured to say that Warlord U.K. belongs to the Xtreem Music family where they have found a safe place to give their honest and authentic incarnation of Death Metal, a fair treatment and get the recognition they deserve.

"Deeply rooted in the British classic death metal sound of their countrymates Bolt Thrower & Benediction, Warlord U.K. completes the triad with their heavy and epic Death Metal that will definitely please every fan of such bands."

Bands performing extreme music need an extreme label so who better than Xtreem Music. Warlord UK onwards and upwards!!!" More...

Interview

Goatwhore Comments on Upcoming Album

A modernized, fancy van sat in the parking lot of Emo's in Austin, Texas. Goatwhore's Sammy Duet sat inside the van drinking a beer. The group's bassist, James Harvey, stood outside. Both gave a running commentary on the band's new album "Constricting Rage Of The Merciless," which raged through the van's speakers. Sammy told me that I didn't hear the album, so I there will be no descriptions of the album in this introduction, although I will comment on the track "Baring Teeth For Revolt" because the group premiered this song during their set.

I didn't approach Goatwhore's van to hang out and hear new tunes. I was there looking for Ben Falgoust to set up an interview time. The clearly visible members of Goatwhore sitting in an open van seemed rather inviting, at least for approaching the band for an interview. A man with long, blonde hair and goatee spoke with a European accent I couldn't place. I thought he was a member of Behemoth hanging out with Goatwhore. He actually was Archaon, guitarist of 1349 and the Goatwhore members were sitting in his group's van.

I learned this fact of van ownership during my interview with Falgoust a couple hours later. We discussed this massive tour that the band had only just begun. In the following interview, we also talk about the band's forthcoming full-length "Constricting Rage Of The Merciless."

Rex_84: Goatwhore has a new album, "Constricting Rage of the Merciless," on the rise. You have a way for fans to purchase it at your shows. More...

Vanhelga Streaming Full Album

Today, singular Swedish black metal outfit Vanhelga streams the entirety of the band's new third album, "Längtan," set for release April 28th via Art Of Propaganda.

Give the full album a listen below, courtesy of Terrorizer.com. The following press release was also issued about the band:

"Vanhelga was formed in Linköping, Sweden, in 2001 by J. Ottosson, AKA 145188, who got together with like-minded musicians in order to finally breathe life into his vision, something he had not been able to do with any previous bands and musicians he had worked with. Through music and lyrics, Vanhelga - which, translated from Swedish, means 'Profane' - explores the darker side of humanity, the one that few will admit exists, but which nevertheless is a huge part of every individual's existence.

"Vanhelga's music can doubtlessly be classed as black metal, but that would be too restrictive a definition. Their music is cold and sinister, but with melodies and melancholic moments that can draw you in and lull you into a false sense of security before you realize, too late, that you have been caught in an ominous web of sound that sends shivers down your spine. With their second full-length album, 2012's Höst, receiving high praise from both the press and the fans, Vanhelga has been hailed by many critics as one of the most exciting bands to emerge from Sweden in recent years.

"The upcoming release of Längtan, coupled with the band's intense stage presence, will only serve to confirm and strengthen this opinion and expand Vanhelga's ever-growing fanbase." More...
