HeadCrusher Comments On Album Artwork
HeadCrusher will soon make available the first physical release of the albums "Let The Blood Run" and "Burning Black Skies."
Both recordings have been combined into one vinyl via Sporarecordz. In addition to possessing a bruising sound, the record features sanguinary artwork by extreme metal artist, Jon Zig. Zig is best known for creating illustrations for Disgorge, Suffocation, Deeds of Flesh, Hod and the logo for The Black Dahlia Murder.
HeadCrusher Vocalist Kike comments on the artwork: "I wanted to represent our motto 'From the Mountains of Colombia' for this cover. Colombia has some quite exotic natural spots. Its wilderness is pretty unique, and I find it very aggressive. There are areas of country that are still untouched by humans and rivers like rio Cristales that at distance looks bloody red. So I thought about this devilish looking mountain pouring blood. Then, the rest of the guys added the rest of the elements as the beast and the tribe of men worshiping it. I think it was David [Coloma, guitar] who presented all these elements to Jon Zig and he came up with this sick painting. We were stoked about it since the first time we saw it. He really got the vibe of our collective thoughts." More...

Megadeth has issued the following brief statement online about cancelling all upcoming live appearances:

Shaved Women To Release "Just Death"
Ektro Records has set August 8th as the international release date for Shaved Women's "Just Death." The label comments:
"Giving maladjusted hope to aspiring psychopaths everywhere, this fat slab is full of tasty jams. The distorted, buzzsaw riffs make you want to carry around a knife, not a switchblade. The John-Bonham-meets-the-Incredible Hulk drums make you want you start a fight with a wall until you have less bones. The vocals drill into your head and convince you that the only way out is to slam through the ground, tearing all of your friends' designer blouses while failing through the wormhole. Simply put, this sounds like the tension of blood boiling after a car accident - if it was catchy.
"Coming on their fourth year as a band with releases in the ether, Shaved Women aren't succumbing to the usual slump that some bands take on after doing some real tours and getting the name out there. This isn't indicative of a sophomore, junior, or senior slump. No, Shaved Women will at least make it to community college and drop out. For the rest of you quitters, here's a record to attach your anger to and do what you see fit during each jam, most likely going fists-first out of your windshield when your car wants to fight other cars."
The "Just Death" track listing is as follows:
1. No One Gets In
2. Paranoia
3. Relapse
4. I Don't Belong Here
5. Bottom Feeder
6. Is It Worth It
7. Tired Again
8. Just Death

Where Evil Follows Signs Record Deal
Moribund Records has announced the signing of American speed metal force Where Evil Follows. The label comments:
"The first fruit of this union shall be Where Evil Follows' debut album, Portable Darkness, tentatively slated for a late September release. This album features the incredible talents of multi-instrumentalist Dean Sternberg. Dean handles soaring yet aggressive vocals and brings his bass-playing talents to the band.
"Dean is currently the touring bassist and back-up vocalist for ex-Iced Earth singer Matt Barlow's new band, Ashes of Ares. Earlier, Dean was chosen for touring vocalist position in Into Eternity and toured the globe extensively.
"Guitarist Toby Knapp is the musical mastermind of Where Evil Follows, taking his diabolical visions back into the realm of dark and furious heavy metal with a hefty nod towards '80s speed metal. Knapp's underground fanbase have enjoyed his tenures with Godless Rising, Waxen, and as a solo album instrumentalist starting with Shrapnel Records two decades ago, but perhaps it's the Onward fans that await this album most, as Knapp returns to what he arguably does best: straight-up heavy metal with virtuostic guitar passages combined with an intelligently soaring and melodic vocalist to bring his music to full fruition. Ides Of Gemini Posts Album Teaser
In May of 2012, Ides Of Gemini unveiled debut full-length, "Constantinople" and aollowing the release, Ides Of Gemini spent much time touring both Europe and the U.S.
Upon their return to Los Angeles, Ides of Gemini hared stages with Boris, Deafheaven, and True Widow before hibernating to finish writing and rehearsing new material. That new record is ready to see the light of day.
"Old World New Wave" was recorded at Valley Recording in Burbank, California, engineered and mixed by Chris Rakestraw, (who did the same for Constantinople and is often noted for his work with Danzig) and mastered by Grammy-winning producer Matt Hyde. The artwork and design were executed by drummer Kelly Johnston-Gibson.
“The foundation for Old World New Wave was laid before Constantinople even came out,” guitarist Jason Bennett reveals. “We had the title, most of the guitar tracks and basic arrangements in place at that point. We’ve been planning this record for a long time, so it’s incredibly rewarding — and a total relief — to finally have it out.”
The "Old World New Wave" album will be released on CD and digitally via Neurot Recordings and on vinyl via SIGE Records on September 16th, 2014. In the meantime, check out the new teaser video below. Also be sure to catch the band live:

Breaking News
Behemoth Detained In Russia
Second Update: the band has now reportedly been released and returned to Poland. Get the details over here.
Update: the band's Facebook page has now posted this message (translated from Polish): "Looks like it's going to be a normal arrest. They'll take our phones soon. At 9am we'll have a court case, then a judgement and maybe a deportation."
A post on the Behemoth Facebook page from Nergal has stated the band is being detained in Russia due to some sort of visa problem. A translation of his statement reads:
"We've been stopped by the immigration services for 'wrong visas'. When I said that we will not move an inch from the club without someone from the polish embassy, they threatened to force us out. They took us in a bus, accompanied by 10 officers, to the building of Federal Migration Service.
"We tried to reach polish embassy in Jekaterinburg but no one is answering the phone. If possible - please copy this message and pass it everywhere you can. We may expect a multihour hearing. The concert is off for sure. The only thing we want is to get back to the hotel safely and then - to Poland. No matter how hard we try - we cannot pass it all. Regards."
This is just the latest in a string of misfortunes for the band, whose front man Noergal was previously put on trial for tearing up a Bible on stage during a concert. Nergal also recently beat leukemia and recovered to full health.
Behemoth's latest album "The Satanist" (reviewed here) was one of our most anticipated releases of the year and is out now.
And for those of you who are native Polish speakers, here's the original untranslated text:
"zostalismy zatrzymani przez sluzby imigracyjne pod pretekstem zlych wiz. Kiedy powiedzialem, ze nie ruszymy sie z klubu bez obecnosci kogos z polskiej ambasady zagrozili ze wywioza nas sila. Zabrali nas busem w towarzystwie ok 10 funkcjonariuszy do gmachu FMS (federal migration service). Próbowalismy sie dodzwonic do polskiej ambasady w ekaterinburgu ale nikt nie odbiera. Jesli mozna prosze skopiowac ta wiadomosc i podzielic sie nia wszedzie gdzie sie da. Teraz czeka nas pewnie wielogodzinne przesluchanie. Koncert sie na pewno nie odbedzie. Teraz juz tylko chcemy spokojnie wrócic do hotelu i w dalszej kolejnosci do Polski... Glowa tego muru nie rozbijemy. Pozdr."
Knifeworld Announces New Album Release
Knifeworld is very pleased to announce the release of second full-length album "The Unravelling" on the 21st of July in Europe and July 22nd in the U.S. This will be the band's first for new label-home InsideOutMusic. The eight-piece band led by Kavus Torabi (Cardiacs, Gong) comments:
"In the summer of 2008, around the time I was mixing what would become Knifeworld's debut album, Buried Alone: Tales Of Crushing Defeat, my dear friend, musical genius, and leader of Cardiacs, Tim Smith collapsed, a few hours after attending a My Bloody Valentine gig, with what appears to have been both a stroke and a heart attack in the early hours of the morning having phoned me to tell me he was coming over to stay.
"Cardiacs had, for the previous five years, been my life or at least a very big part of it. Tim, however, had been my best friend for the previous fifteen or so.
"Since his collapse Tim has required 24 hour care and is still unable to go home. This event and those that followed inspired what would become The Unravelling, the all too real epiphany that at a certain point life becomes a process of continual loss.
"In the years following this awful episode, hopelessly grim, sad and heartbreaking events seemed to unfold all around me. Friends were diagnosed with incurable diseases, sectioned and imprisoned. Or worse. My once happy, enlightened, beautiful circle of radical, free-thinking freaks seemed to be collapsing and falling apart. I didn't think the joy or craziness would come to an end. My previous experience of tragedy and bad luck seemed marginal in the light of what seemed to be occurring. Yet, somehow, in spite of it all everyone just gets through it. The alternative is unthinkable.
"I'd never channelled 'real stuff' so overtly into my music before. Although previously most of my lyrics had been autobiographical, I had always put in enough obfuscation and ambiguity to render them a little more abstract. I suppose I took a dim view of being so blatant, it felt a bit like crying in public. More...

God Of Atheists Checks In With Album Update
It's been almost a year since the last major update, and now there's finally news about the long-overdue God Of Atheists album! Asgeir Mickelson comments:
"OK, so I'm back on track with the album. If you say you can't wait till this thing is out then let me tell you that it's nothing compared to that I CANNOT WAIT! This has been forever!
"I hoped for a release last year but then I slammed headfirst into a wall called writer's block and spent almost 10 months writing the last two lyrics... I admit I didn't work nonstop on them but how is that possible...?
"Master I.C.S. Vortex finally recorded them on Monday - and now I'm very happy that I didn't just write some ordinary and boring words to record. The lyrics are very personal and important for the album, and I stand by every single venomous word. If you plan to illegally download the album I hope it'll take as long time as I spent just writing ONE of the damned lyrics...
"If you've been waiting for Vortex's grim vocals after Borknagar's 'Quintessence' then this is definitely it! Yes, he's doing his trademark clean vocals too (oh yeah!) but I wanted a good mix of both styles in order to get variation and a dynamic sounding album. In the end you'll obviously be the judge of that. Now I'll get back to work. There's still a lot to do before hunting down a record deal and get this thing out to you." More...
Equilibrium Recruits New Guitarist
German epic metal band Equilibrium today introduces a new lead guitarist: Dom R. Crey is the successor to the recently departing guitar player Andreas Völkl. The band states:
"Hello dear Equi-community, after the departure of Sandra and Andi we have started to look for musicians, to start the next chapter with us and also the upcoming concerts.
"At this point we want to thank everyone, for sending us applications – some of them were really good. As of today we can announce that Dom (Dom R. Crey), also known through Nothgard and Wolfchant will be joining in on guitars from now on. We are absolutely proud that we have won our, partly long-term, friend as the latest member of the family! We are totally looking forward to the future with him as part of Equilibrium!"
Dom adds: "I am looking forward to the upcoming concerts and the next time, but also to listen to the new masterpiece of the Equi-guys. René has overdone himself with it, in my own opinion, which makes me even more euphoric towards the next gigs. This new and for some rather unusual constellation has no effect on my other bands. I am looking forward to hav all the fun in the world with Equilibrium, that have been friends of mine for a while now and also to share this fun with you, dear Equi-Fans."
Equilibrium also announce the premiere of the brand new video clip for “Wirtshaus-Gaudi,” which is due out tomorrow. The band's upcoming album "Erdentempel" will be released June 6th, 2014 via Nuclear Blast. The track listing is as follows: More...
