Trivium's Paolo Gregoletto has issued the following announcement about the band parting ways with drummer Nick Augusto:
"I had asked everyone to make this statement regarding Nick, personally and on behalf of the band because of the history we both have had together as friends and bandmates. There is no easy way to go about parting ways with someone; whether it's in a band or not, but if it is coming directly from one of us, I hope that it will be perceived out of our respect for him.
"This past Sunday, Matt, Corey, and I decided that it was best to part ways with Nick and to move forward as soon as possible. This decision was not one that we took lightly, given the fact that we are in the midst of a tour, and more importantly, that Nick has been with us for almost 3 and half years.
"We spoke face to face for about an hour on the bus - first informing him of our decision to move forward, both discussing the situation and how to precede with announcing it, as well as personally thanking him for being there when we needed him as a tech, and then as drummer. I made both those calls to Nick - I asked him if he would be willing to drop everything and come out and be apart of Trivium at a moments notice and he did without hesitation. On stage we all fit well together - I believe we became a tighter and more unified band because of him. There was not a dramatic ending to this, honestly it was quite muted and I am happy to have been able to speak directly and calmly to one another. More...
Iconic Santa Cruz heavy fusion act Bl'ast! has confirmed a string of European tour dates this June, surrounded by widespread North American performances in May and July, in addition to a revamped live lineup.
Original Bl'ast! alumni, vocalist Clifford Dinsmore (also of Dusted Angel, Gargantula) and guitarist Mike Neider (LAB) will be joined by Nick Oliveri (Kyuss, Queens of the Stone Age, Mondo Generator) on bass and Joey Castillo (Queens Of The Stone Age, Danzig, Eagles Of Death Metal & Wasted Youth) on drums for the upcoming multi-continental run of upcoming tour dates.
On the subject of touring Europe, Mike Neider comments, "We couldn't have asked for a more perfect fit. Joey and Nick have shown tons of respect to the music and have added their blood to make even more manic and heavy! BL'AST! Is in full sound assault mode! We are looking forward to the upcoming dates, honestly, it feels never better! And to come over for the first time at this point in time will be a great display of heavy!" Vocalist Cliff Dinsmore adds, "We have such an amazing band chemistry going on right now...it's beyond anything I've experienced in all my years of playing with BL'AST! Nick and Joey's contribution to the band has brought it to a level of tightness and intensity that is totally insane!"
Oliveri and Castillo haven't played together since Queens Of The Stone Age over ten years ago. Joey C has this to say about being part of Bl'ast!: "Very Stoked to be playing with BL'AST! for a couple reasons: I go way back with the guys, be it when I was a kid playing in Wasted Youth, we did shows together, and I was always a fan. And obviously playing again with Nick Oliveri, my other old friend from our days in QOTSA together, makes it even that much greater and fun! Can't wait to get overseas to show what BL'AST! is all about, see ya soon!" More...

Swedish metal outfit Vengha is gearing up to release new album "Ergo" this coming July, 2014. Today the first single from the album has been made available. Check out "Which Way" in the player below, or find more info on Vengha at the band's Facebook profile here.
Back in March, Century Media Records announced Angela Gassow would be stepping down as Arch Enemy's singer and taking on a management role. The voice of Arch Enemy for 13 years, Gassow lent her seething pitch to 6 albums. In addition her longevity, Gassow is seen as one of the greatest female vocalists in the realm of extreme metal. This being said, finding another female who can crush it like Angela seems a lofty task. She looked to Canada to find a pretty, blue-haired maiden named Alissa White-Gluz.
White-Gluz possesses the attitude, voice and experience the band so desired. She had released three albums with fellow Century Media artists, The Agonist. Her ability to growl certainly raised a few eyebrows including those of Angela Gassow. Gassow called her and asked if she could fill the spot, which White-Gluz obviously accepted. Since then, White-Gluz left Canada for Sweden to record the band's 9th studio album "War Eternal."
With just a month to spare before the album hits American shores, I called Alissa to get her thoughts on the new album. She was on vacation in New York, but still found the time to discuss joining the band and making this album. More...
Phoenix, Arizona's Lilith has just joined the 6131 Records family, and the label issued the following statement:
"Lilith's unique sound, self-proclaimed 'feminist doom punk,' and personal, often poignant lyrics make for music that is so refreshingly honest and scathing it's hard not to pay attention.
"Lilith will be touring throughout the Eastern U.S. in May / June (dates below) and their 'Bloom' demo is currently available via Bandcamp for free download."
Details on the band's forthcoming 6131 Records debut release will be announced in the coming months. More...
Negura Bunget has issued the following announcement about canceling the band's previously announced North American tour:
"We are deeply sorry to say it, but we are forced to cancel our entire U.S. and Canadian tour as of this moment.
"Some visa complication completely beyond the band’s control are forcing us to do this in the last moment, despite the fact that we’ve been working on this tour plan for over one year and we already secured our work permits months ago.
"Needless to say we invested a huge amount time, energy and money into making this tour happen, so we are taking a huge loss now. But we are still here, and we will return! Meanwhile we’ll focus all our frustration energy into completing the last details of the new album TAU." More...
The Polish tech-death masters in Decapitated are currently busy at Hertz Studio working on their new album. Now the band has posted a new message right in the midst of is recording progress:
"We are now at the stage of tracking the vocals and the guitars. It looks like recording the new Decapitated album has so far proved extremely demanding. Never before had we faced a challenge as testing as the new songs turned out to be. We cross-breed various styles, sounds and every day we put the crossbar higher and higher.
"Slowly but surely everything starts to come along and we can clearly feel something hugely exciting is emerging. Surely it is going to be the new level for Decapitated and as usually, as with each subsequent album, both music and sound will be somewhat different. I've been using my new custom-made Ibanez Iceman guitar during this session and EVH amps and cabs. The sound is original, powerful and crushing.
"We flirt with various tempos mixing death metal with grindcore and almost outright black metal atmosphere together with more, so to speak, 'crowd-puller' beats verging on groovy, almost stoner-rock climates. There are also a few more modern metal rhythmic riffs where we return to the climate of »Organic Hallucinosis« album. I'm certain that the very fact we are again, after 9 years, in Hertz studio will evoke the spirit of that album.
"The vocals sound very promising. Rasta is a much more experienced vocalist compared to the 'Carnival Is Forever' album times. And his voice sounds more powerful and deeper. There's still a lot of work ahead of us so I gotta go now." More...

The diabolical black/death metal outfit Belphegor has just revealed the cover design for forthcoming album "Conjuring the Dead."
The artwork was created by Greek artist Seth Siro Anton from Septicflesh, who also painted the cover of "Pestapokalypse IV" in 2006.
Belphegor's Helmuth comments: “The spectacular cover, the offensive lyrical content, the Death Musick. Belphegor's nine new sound collages are a new dimension of intensity and dynamics.”
Seth adds: "Once you can customize the basic principles of Renaissance painting and deriving energy/data from chaotic reservoir of unconscious...you get Belphegor's "Conjuring The Dead' cover art.”
The album was recorded at Mana Studios in Florida under the direction of Eric Rutan, three and a half years after "Blood Magick Necromance" (reviewed here) was released.
The band's tenth studio album will be unleashed on August 8th (EU/North America) and August 11th (UK/FR) via Nuclear Blast. More...

6131 Records has announced the signing of San Francisco's Culture Abuse, and the label comments:
"Featuring members of All Teeth and Dead To Me, Culture Abuse hails from the San Francisco Bay Area and can best be described as a wild pack of animals that have been stirring things up along the West Coast since Fall 2013.
"Following the release of their The Day Dreams of Nothing demo EP, 6131 Records almost immediately began talks to sign this impressive new band. Their amalgamation of punk, hardcore, and grunge is unlike anything heard before, feeling both vitally important and on the brink of disaster at the same time."
Culture Abuse will be announcing plans for a forthcoming 6131 Records debut in the near future. The previous demo "The Day Dreams of Nothing" can be heard below or downloaded at Bandcamp here. You can also see the band live:

U.K. dark rock/prog outfit Thine has teamed up with A.V. Club to stream the band's upcoming "The Dead City Blueprint" album before it hits stores on May 13th via Peaceville. Check it out below.
The follow-up to 2002 album, "In Therapy," "The Dead City Blueprint" was recorded at Academy Studios (Paradise Lost, Anathema, My Dying Bride) and features 10 tracks. Commented the band:
"We've been toiling away for over a decade on shaping our latest monster. It has been such a long and grueling process with countless collapses and relapses and a traumatic voyage on numerous levels, but this opus is finally in the flesh so to speak. It is an encapsulation of all those glorious tragedies we all find ourselves overcoming along the way, and essentially for us, a welcome catalyst. Sometimes the best art comes only through being unexpectedly forced through the city's darkest avenues, so hope you'll find us there." More...
Islander has released the single from one of Revolver's "Most Anticipated Albums of 2014," titled "Violence & Destruction."
The single, “Coconut Dracula,” can be heard below, courtesy of the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival website. You can also hear the previously posted track "The Sadness of Graves" over at this location.
On June 17th, Wo Fat will release "The Conjuring," the band's fifth full-length and second via the volume perpetrators at Small Stone.
Pre-orders are available here, and you can hear the song "Beggar's Bargain" below. The following press release was also issued about the band:
"Guitarist/vocalist Kent Stump, bassist Tim Wilson, and drummer/backing vocalist Michael Walter are jazz-combo tight and their roll is easy and natural, much like Fu Manchu, but far bigger and in the case of The Conjuring, far darker.
"There's been a creature lurking in the woods since Wo Fat's 2006 debut, The Gathering Dark. Their second album, 2009's Psychedelonaut, pulled back on the threat some to lighten the mood, but whether it's the motor-driven rush of 'Read The Omens' or the you're-already-lost-in-it riff-exploration of seventeen-minute closer 'Dreamwalker,' The Conjuring is indeed a backwoods ritual. Bluesmen have sold their souls for less.
"Veterans of Roadburn, slated for Freak Valley 2014 and self-sufficient with Stump handling the recording at his own Crystal Clear Sound on their home turf, Wo Fat pushes their jams farther than they've ever gone before on these five tracks. Topped off with a mastering job from Nolan Brett at Stump's studio and an otherworldly cover courtesy of Alexander Von Wieding, the beast that Wo Fat's tectonic riffage calls to earth has never seemed more real or more alive than it does on The Conjuring."
The album's track listing is:
1. The Conjuring
2. Read The Omens
3. Pale Rider From The Ice
4. Beggar's Bargain
5. Dreamwalker More...
Witch Mountain has checked in with the following announcement about recording an upcoming album:

Further details are forthcoming, and you can also hear the previous release "Cauldron of the Wild" below.

Italy's Father Muprhy is currently en route to the East Coast where the band will spread eccentric and diseased hymns across North America on an epic month-long journey, with additional rituals recently added in Washington, DC, San Diego, Salt Lake City and Albany. The trek includes a live appearance on June 19th at WFMU in Jersey City, New Jersey.
The frighteningly strangulating avant occult duo, who The Wire likened to "homemade Morricone and toytown Goblin," will be touring in support of the "Pain Is On Our Side Now" EP, released via Aagoo Records earlier this year.
A concept album that centers itself on failure, "Pain Is On Our Side Now" boasts four chilling tracks of eroticism and emotional decay, which can all be heard below. See the band live on these dates: More...

Pittsburgh's Complete Failure is offering the track titled "Errant Social Mile Marker" as a free download over at Bandcamp here.
"Errant Social Mile Marker" is taken from the band's latest full length, "The Art Gospel of Aggravated Assault," which can be streamed in full below. Regarding the album, the band said:
"'The Art Gospel of Aggravated Assault' is the godproduct for us 4 of many lost relationships, arguments, lost sleep, migraines, pain, loss of life, debt, one assault, one ruined career, countless hours of driving, writing, rewriting, rewriting, fighting and shit talk over arrangements, drug addiction and rehabilitation, and about 50 hours straight of recording over the course of two and a half years at peoples houses in a few different states at pretty much any affiliate band members house that had a microphone and a laptop that could run recording software of any kind.
"Nothing I personally have ever been a part of as a human being has ever called upon so much out of me from a standpoint of living breathing resentment and frustration for being alive and trying to 'keep up' with earth around you. With every passing day to practice to show to belligerent release of sobriety between us as members of Complete Failure, it was more and more obvious that if it weren't all coming out right now then never. I don't know if the wise man ever said it but he should have. You could die tomorrow for anything, so why not kill yourself for nothing today." More...

Founding member and guitarist Robin Staps fills us in on the details: "This clip was filmed at our show at Hidden Agenda in Hong Kong during our first tour there in 2011. It was a crazy night, the audience was actually more drunk than us, and completely went ape shit.
"During the encore, 'The City In The Sea' off our 'Aeolian' record, Loic asked everyone to come up on stage and things went off the hook. These kids really enjoyed seeing some live metal in their city, and there are some quite unique dancing styles on display." More...

Welsh post-hardcore band Funeral For A Friend has premiered a new cover of BoySetsFire’s song “Rookie” today at AltPress.com (also available below).
The song is featured on a two-track split record, which also features Boysetsfire covering Funeral For A Friend’s “1045 Amsterdam Conversations.” The split 7” vinyl will be released in the U.S. on May 13th by No Sleep Records and is currently available for pre-order here.
“When it came down to figuring out what BSF track we wanted to cover it wasn't easy,” says FFAF’s Matthew Davies. “We all had our favourites but we just had to figure out which song collectively made sense. After the Eulogy is such an inspirational record and we all love 'Rookie,' it's probably the most recognizable BSF song and we figured because of it's connection with people that we should give it a shot. We recorded it in a day. It was so much fun to play, it's such an anthem.” More...

Massacre Records has issued the following announcement about inking a deal with Palace:
"Traditional metal without a fuss or quibble still exists and Palace are living proof! In 1990, the band rose from the ashes of Saints Anger.
"The band's debut 'Toy Of Rage' was released in 1996, followed by 'Unsolved Mysteries' in 1999. Both albums were supported by countless gigs. 'Machine Evolution' (2003) received fantastic reviews, both in Germany and abroad.
"The band's 4th album 'Black Sun' was released in 2006 via STF Records as well as 'Divine Intervention,' which followed in 2008. The band's latest album 'Dreamevilize' was released in 2011 via Firefield Records.
"In the past decades, Palace played with bands such as Grave Digger, Doro, U.D.O. or Sabaton and played at festivals like Saarbanger Festival, Steel Meets Steel, Rage Against Racism or Fullmetal Osthessen.
"One of the highlights in the band's live history was surely the European tour with Primal Fear and Brainstorm in 2012 where they played 19 gigs in 10 different countries!"
Palace's new album "7th Steel" is set to be released this coming Autumn 2014 via Massacre Records.
Update: Roadrunner and Opeth have now released a statement about the delay and announced the album is being pushed back to August. Check it out right here.
In a press release sent out last month by Roadrunner Records, it was announced that "Cusp of Eternity" - the first single off Opeth's new album "Pale Communion" - would be released along with album pre-order info on May 6th, 2014.
Obviously that date has come and passed without the single coming online, and fans are not happy about it. Every post on the Roadrunner Records Facebook page is filled with dozens of not-so-nice comments from Opethians (and I'd say it's a good bet none of them are buying that Black Stone Cherry album RR keeps posting about....) that range from "I always did dislike your company. I'm sure this type of crap dosen't happen with Nickelback" to threats to pirate the album when it is released, on to amusing Opeth lyric references like "I don't know how or why, and I'll never know WHEN..."
There's been no official statement yet from either Roadrunner or Opeth, but rumors are circling that the original June 17th release date for "Pale Communion" is being pushed back to the end of the Summer. Stay tuned for further details when an official announcement is made available.
Are you looking forward to the new album, and what you think of the lead single being pushed back without an explanation? More...
