Krysantemia Posts "Not Alone" Video
Italian death/thrash metal act Krysantemia has launched a new music video for "Not Alone," the latest single off third studio album, "Finis Dierum," out now on Memorial Records. Check it out below.
Krysantemia commented: "The whole video has been filmed by Pier Nicola Arena in the old part of my house before the work of its renovation. 'Not Alone' is very important because Alex (Ruggeri, guitar) wrote it in memory of his father who died when he was eight years old. We tried to translate the anger of that moment to music."
The "Finis Dierum" album, which released earlier this year, can be purchased now via iTunes here. More...
Kronos Streaming "Infernal Abyss Sovereignty"
With the release of "Arisen New Era," the forthcoming new full-length from French death metal unit and recent Unique Leader signee Kronos, now exactly one month away, today opening bruiser "Infernal Abyss Sovereignty" is available for communal devourment. Don't mess with Poseidon - check out "Infernal Abyss Sovereignty" below.
Featuring a continuous textual reference to the gods of ancient civilizations, Kronos bludgeons ears with a heightened level of dynamics recorded, mixed and mastered by David Potvin at Dome Studios (Lyzanxia, Arcania, Under The Abyss).
Elaborates the band: "'Arisen New Era' as a whole is about the fratricidal strife between Hades and Poseidon whose rivalry will lead them to an alliance against Zeus. 'Infernal Abyss Sovereignty' starts the album and introduce the story... Feeling aggrieved by the sharing of the world with his two brothers, Poseidon feels it's time to awake some fratricidal quarrels." More...

"We’re very excited to be working with the eOne team, their experience and well rounded ability will certainly help us grow in our biggest market," says TesseracT frontman Dan Tompkins. "The band is really looking forward to making the most of utilizing the resources that eOne has to offer and can’t wait to start this album cycle."
The new effort will follow previous LP "Altered State" (reviewed here) that was released in 2013. Stay tuned for more info coming soon.

Diskord To Play South African Festival
Oslo, Norway-based band Diskord is confirmed to play in South Africa's Witchfest this coming March, 2016.
The festival is South Africa's biggest, and such a festival is in itself an event of notice for the country as a whole. As Metal Injection puts it, "It's safe to assume that South Africa doesn't see many international heavy metal acts touring down there, so when something happens it's a big deal."
Likewise, it is probably equally rare that a Norwegian death metal band, and a somewhat weird and progressive one at that, gets to travel all the way to Johannesburg to perform. The band Diskord has been active for well over 10 years, appearing at Inferno festival, Kill-Town in Denmark, Hole in the Sky in Bergen, By:Larm here in Oslo, Szczecin Extreme Festival in Szczecin and involved in tours around Europe, but never before - in Africa.
Witchfest is a festival dedicated to extreme metal music taking place in Johannesburg over three days next March.

Shining Plays On Top Of A Mountain
Call it "Survival of the Metal-est." This past Sunday, June 21st, on the solstice and longest day of the year, the Norwegian blackjazz band Shining (not to be confused with the Swedish band of the same name) played a concert on top of a grandiose mountain structure hanging out 700 meters -that's nearly 2300 feet above the ground.
How they flying mother-of-fuck did that they do that? Here's how: the band flew a PA system and power generator up to the mountaintop and blasted some patented blackjazz music to a group of 300 fans and mountain hikers who had embarked on the daunting task of walking the five-hour trip to the top o' the mountain.
A fan-filmed clip of the concert can be seen below. If you are afraid of heights, screw it and watch ANYWAY! Shining frontman Jørgen Munkeby said: "This is the craziest thing I've ever been part of! First of all, I'm happy that we're all still alive! But I'm also happy that we got all the technical aspects of this to work, as it's no easy task to plan a full rock and metal concert on top of a freaking mountain!"
The concert was filmed with one helicopter, one drone, and several cameramen. It will be released once the material is gathered and processed.
Munkeby added, "We have this video series called 'Live on Location,' where we set up our stuff in unusual places and test our musical strength against uncontrollable environments. And what's more uncontrollable than a huge rock literally soaring above a 700 meters straight drop down to the ground in the middle of the Norwegian mountains? I can't wait to start working on the footage and getting it out there!" More...

Act Of Defiance Releases A "Throwback" Track
In a time of endless sub-genre classifications, Act Of Defiance's debut offering simply delivers 100% in-your-face, uncompromising heavy metal. The scathing debut, "Birth and The Burial," is set for an August 21st release via Metal Blade Records and pre-order bundle packages are now available at this location.
The group's first official introduction to the masses is via the album's ripping lead-off track "Throwback," which is a face-melting all out thrash assault. Check it out below.
With a hefty resumé that chronicles time spent riffing and shredding in Jag Panzer, Nevermore, and a seven-year stint in Megadeth, Chris Broderick’s pedigree speaks for itself. Furthermore, joined by powerhouse drummer - and fellow Megadeth alumnus and former Eidolon drummer - Shawn Drover, bassist Matt Bachand (Shadows Fall) and vocalist Henry Derek (ex-Scar The Martyr), the band is a truly formidable metallic behemoth. "Birth And The Burial" is ten tracks of armor-plated, state of the art heaviness.
Drover states: "'Throwback' is not your average speed/thrash metal tune. The song is also pretty progressive at times with a lot of stopping and starting going into the bridge and they are all at different times, so we really had to memorize the count. I was really impressed with the way Chris wanted to write a little bit out of the box, shall we say.
"Chris also wrote all of the lyrics for the song, which were also impressive to me. They are certainly dark in the subject matter, as they should be to fit the aggressiveness of the song. Quite a nice fit if you ask me." More...

Majestic Downfall Releasing "...When Dead"
Majestic Downfall will release "...When Dead" through Pulverised Records this coming August 7th, 2015. The label had this to say:
"Further stretching the boundaries of the blackened doom / death genre beyond what is deemed as traditional, Mexican doom-sayer Majestic Downfall unleashes what is probably the most tormenting album in the group's discography to date with '...When Dead.'
"Ensorcelled by the mournful bliss of doom and yet raising the chalice for black metal dissonance, '...When Dead' is a celebration of the two seemingly unbendable genres enwreathed as one, and the result is an iniquitous atmosphere marred with sublime melodic doom passages and the caustic nature of black metal scowl."
The album was mixed and mastered by Tore Stjerna at Necromorbus Studio, Sweden (Watain, Demonical, Repugnant) and the track listing is as follows: More...

Recently signing a worldwide deal with Sliptrick Records, the band is about to unleash a sophomore album - a blood spattered creature titled "Innerland" produced at Magnitude Studios by Matteo Magni of Rhyme. The advance track "Forsaken" can be heard below, and Sliptrick Records also comments:
"‘Innerland,’ a metaphorical journey through the landscapes of human soul, always suspended between good and evil, somewhere between fury and calm, is a stunning blend of groovy metal riffs, ruff vocals articulated with melodic hooks, redefining their new gloomy, gritty, pounding and mature sound." Goblin Rebirth Streaming Full Album
Relapse Records is excited to share a full stream of Goblin Rebirth's upcoming self-titled album, due out June 29th, 2015. Give it a listen below.
Inspired by the legendary Goblin, the 1970's horror-synth / film score icons responsible for such soundtracks as "Suspiria," "Zombi," and "Tenebre," Goblin Rebirth came together after a temporary reformation of the original group in 2009.
The new incarnation of the group contains the famed rhythm section of the original Goblin (drummer Agostino Marangolo and bassist Fabio Pignatelli, who both played on the classic soundtracks to "Zombi/Dawn of the Dead," "Suspria," "Profondo Rosso/Deep Red" and more), with the addition of Aidan Zammit and Danilo Cherni on keyboards and Giacomo Anselmi on guitar.
The band formed in 2010 and started with a live repertoire of Goblin hits and some unusual songs from more obscure Goblin soundtracks. The band members soon began creating new material and decided to look to the future, creating songs that grew out of an organic process, through a combination of individual compositions and jam sessions. Oceans Of Slumber Signs With Century Media
Century Media Records is pleased to announce the signing of Houston progressive metallers Oceans of Slumber. The label comments:
"Founded in 2011, Oceans Of Slumber mystify listeners with atmospheric melodies over darkened dynamics that range from the perversely sinister to the adventurously progressive. Creating an undeniably epic wall of sound that has become the Texans' trademark, Oceans Of Slumber caught the attention of the world's largest heavy metal label and will release their 'Blue' EP on limited edition vinyl August 21st, 2015.
"On the 'Blue' EP, listeners are treated to re-imaginings of classics from seminal artists such as Candlemass, Led Zeppelin, Emperor and Pink Floyd. The EP also includes a re-working of a previously released Oceans Of Slumber track as well as a taste of a brand new single that will appear on the forthcoming full length album, to be released by Century Media, date and title TBA."
Jens Prueter, Head Of A&R Century Media Records Europe comments: "Being part of the metal scene for so many years it's hard to surprise me with anything but I couldn't believe what I heard when my colleague Daniel Dismal sent me the new Oceans Of Slumber recordings. Here's a young band, combining the best of Texas' heritage from both Metal and Alternative Progressive bands such as Watchtower, King's X, Mars Volta, Trail Of Dead and going way back to the roots of Big Mama Thornton and her disciple, Janis Joplin. These highly skilled musicians made a huge step with the addition of the young, soulful voice of Cammie Gilbert and I'm sure you will be just as surprised when you hear the upcoming album! The Blue EP is just the beginning from Oceans Of Slumber on Century Media and I am sure they'll be surprising us all every step of the way." More...

Cradle Of Filth Deflowers Your Maidenhead
The barbarous hellhounds from Cradle of Filth will release forthcoming album, "Hammer of the Witches," on July 10th via Nuclear Blast.
Today, the band has released a new lyric video, "Deflowering the Maidenhead, Displeasuring the Goddess," which can be seen below. Frontman Dani Filth commented on the track:
"'Deflowering the Maidenhead, Displeasuring the Goddess' is based on the ancient belief of the world personified as Mother Goddess, concerning itself with her self-preservative measures when assailed by her final abuse by the human race. Violated, poisoned and unknowingly left for dead, Gaia's is a pre-emptive, violent and justified retribution; without tears for creed or culture. Nature versus Mankind. A total renewal of species. The song spirals onward at a frenetic, apocalyptic pace to climax and was originally one of guitarist Ashok's contributions to the album, along with 'The Vampyre at My Side.'"
The new album's track listing is as follows:

The Black Dahlia Murder Posts New Song
The Black Dahlia Murder is returning with new full-length album "Abysmal," which is officially set for a September 18th release.
The band re-enlisted the services of producer Mark Lewis (Cannibal Corpse, Whitechapel) and former bass player Ryan Williams, who also helped produce "Everblack," with the sole intent to get away from the overt sonic sterility affecting far too many contemporary metal albums.
The world's first look into "Abysmal" is via the track, "Vlad, Son of The Dragon," which is streaming now below. Trevor Strnad (vocals) states:
"The new album, 'Abysmal,' is true to The Black Dahila Murder formula, but further down the evolutionary path we began with our 'Ritual' release. It has bigger, more dynamic and developed songs. People can expect a more raw and natural sounding TBDM record.
"It's the most real and live sounding thing we've done since our debut. It has a real energy and urgency to it. We made a conscious effort of having a more lively and dynamic sound and I feel the result is truly excellent. What I hear is my band playing as they do live when I step off the stage at soundcheck. Therefore, this is the real TBDM incarnate.
"Expect a relentless world ravaging touring cycle from us for the next couple of years. You'd better start exercising your necks now!" More...

Graspop Metal Meeting: Day One
The Graspop Metal Meeting festival, held annually in the small Belgian town of Dessel, has become one of the highlights of the metal calendar, along with such festivals as Wacken Open Air and Hellfest and this year, the event proved how successful it is by celebrating it's twentieth edition. It was certainly a special way to mark the occassion, booking a number of bands who had never played the festival before but who fans had been clamouring to see. It has always traditionally catered to head bangers of all ages, bringing in bands from the early days of metal to the stars of today, as well as up and comers. Before we go any further, it should be noted that due to scheduling conflicts, some big names either will not be covered in this review, or only mentioned briefly, so don't be disappointed if your favourite band doesn't get the treatment you want, if at all. So, with all that said, just how good can a metal festival in the Flemish region be? Read on, MacDuff.
Arriving on the Thursday, the camp site seemed to be smoother than ever to get in to than previous years. Whether this is because the staff have further improved the planning of the grounds, metal heads have become friendlier over the past four years, or because I've been put on medication since my last visit, we'll never know. Anyway, the general atmosphere at Graspop was, as per usual, a very relaxed one, with people from all over the world coming to listen to and celebrate the music they love so dearly. There are some bands performing on this day too, mostly cover acts such as The Art of Pantera and Diolegacy. It's a good way to get introduced to the festival grounds, get some tokens (imagine Disney money but with skulls on,) and familiarise yourself with the stages, food stalls and the cafe, which is more of a pub with Warlock on full blast.
On to the most important thing however, the music. Kicking off the main stage, or rather, the second main stage as the festival now has two, was hard rock supergroup, The Dead Daisies. The band features a collective of solid names such as Marco Mendoza, Dizzy Reed and former Motley Crue vocalist, John Corabi. Looking at the bands on the members resume such as Guns N Roses, Thin Lizzy and Whitesnake, their good time, hard rocking sound was pretty much what one would expect. This does not, however, stop them from doing their job of getting people on their feet, putting smiles on faces and generally bringing a great vibe to the event that is so vital in making sure a festival gets off to a good start. They're not just a party act either, they've got some genuinly good songs and a number of people seemed to be a little surprised how much they enjoyed the set. Bottom line: If you want to party like it's 1985, go see the Dead Daisies. You'll be glad you did. More...
