Mutilation Rites To Record New Album
For those living along the east coast, the current cold front won’t be the only thing attacking your vitals this month – prepare to be blasted with menacing black metal from Brooklyn’s Mutilation Rites as the band joins Full of Hell for a co-headlining run. Full dates can be found below.
Not only will audiences be presented with music from Prosthetic debut ”Empyrean,” but they will also be privy to hearing new material from the band’s as-yet-untitled follow-up, scheduled to be recorded next month.
Drummer Justin Ennis announced, “After a full year of working on material for our follow-up to ‘Empyrean,’ we are prepared to etch it in stone. Once again our friend Kevin Bernstein (TRIAC) will be at the helm. This will be our fourth release documented with him at Developing Nations in Baltimore. After two years with us, these will also be the first recordings to feature Ryan Jones (ex-Today is the Day) on bass and vocals. He is a beast amongst men.”
The new Mutilation Rites album is scheduled to be released this summer via Prosthetic Records. Stay tuned for more updates. More...

Dropdead Streaming Split Tracks

Check out the tracks below.
Comments Noisey: "If you come across Dropdead records in a record store (look in the back where all the weirdo punk/hardcore releases are), you pretty much have to buy them. You are guaranteed thrashy grindcore that will make you feel terrible about your own lifestyle choices like eating meat and polluting the earth. Plus, you might even get one of their LPs that famously plays backwards or inside out or upside down or whatever." More...

Elaborates fest founder/Tankcrimes big cheese Scotty Heath, "The reason it took me four years to have a second Brainsqueeze is because we didn't have a new and better idea for a second commercial, the first one was a fucking phenomenon. They fucking nailed it."

The Prestige Streaming New Song
The Prestige has posted a new track from forthcoming album "Ecotone." The track is titled "World At My Feet" and can be heard in the player below, courtesy of AbsolutePunk.net. To give insight into the song, vocalist JC Hamel offered the following:
"Depression is hell of a nightmare for anyone stuck with it. You tend to see the bad side out of everything, and you carry some sort of sadness around with you wherever you go. This song is a window on the moment where you realize what the situation is, and decide when/where you flip things over, and start seeing the beauty in everything. It's never too late to turn around, we've all been there. We feel having your feet at the top of the world is an equivalent of making the best we can out of anything."
The band teamed with producer Antoine Lussier (Obey The Brave, Ion Dissonance) AT .357 Productions to record "Ecotone," whom the band has worked with in the past. “It was the third time we hit the studios with him and we had a blast. He truly is a genius and he helped us craft the sound we were always looking for. We are very proud of how it sounds and cannot wait to have everyone listen to it,” stated guitarist Sebastien Marois.
"Ecotone" hits stores March 18th on Mediaskare Records. Exclusive pre-order packages can be purchased at this location. More...

Electric Citizen Signs To EasyRider
EasyRider Records this week announced the signing of the heavy psychedelic outfit Electric Citizen.
Following on from limited edition vinyl/cassette-only releases on The Crossing and Breathe Plastic Records, the winners of this year’s Best Rock Band honor at the 2014 Cincinnati Entertainment Awards will release a debut album, entitled "Sateen" on July 1st, 2014. EasyRider Records comments:
"Taking their name from a song by the legendary Notting Hill Gate set the Edgar Broughton Band, Electric Citizen is the brainchild of guitarist Ross Dolan, enigmatic vocalist Laura Dolan, Nick Vogelpohl (bass) and Nate Wagner (drums).
"Despite only forming last March the band has had a busy year turning heads and ears onto their dark and esoteric brand of haunting ’60s West Coast folk and quintessentially British sounding rock.
"Recorded and produced by fellow Ohioan and local legend Brian Olive (Greenhornes, Soledad Brothers) at The Diamonds, Electric Citizen follow in the footsteps of other, similarly 1970s obsessed anti-modernists Blood Ceremony, Wolf People, Graveyard and Uncle Acid and the Deadbeats. Drawing on influences and eras synonymous with the heaviest of heavy psychedelic rock and archaic ill vibes, and music by bands such as Shocking Blue, Black Sabbath, Pentagram, Black Widow and Amon Düül II."
The band takes to the road over the next few months ahead of the album's official release in July. Dates are available below, you can also hear the song "Burning In Hell" below, courtesy of Noisey.Vice.com. More...
