It's what's in your Walkman on your way to meet the cheerleader with the red hair under the bleachers after detention so she can show you her new tattoo. It's what happens when you grow up with your Priest vinyl a little too close to your Lisa Ann VHS tapes. Misfits and Samhain original pressings and Jess Franco laserdiscs on your bedroom wall. Denim and Hell. Riffs and sleaze. FUCK OFF NOWADAYS HEAVY METAL!"

"Chainmaker" will be released as a one-sided vinyl 12" in a limited quantity of 250 and available digitally via iTunes and Bandcamp. Ivanhoe Inks Deal With Massacre Records

Massacre Records has checked in with the following announcement about signing a new deal with Ivanhoe:

"We're happy to welcome Germany's prog metal veterans Ivanhoe back to the Massacre Records family! The band was founded in 1986 by Giovanni Soulas (bass), Markus Britsch (keyboards) and Lars Hörnig (drums). After several demo tapes, their debut album 'Visions And Reality' was released in 1994 with vocalist Andy B. Franck and guitarist Chuck Schuler. The second album 'Symbols Of Time' followed a year later.

"Chuck decided to leave the band after a successful EU tour w/ Nevermore and Iced Earth due to personal reasons and was replaced by Achim Welsch. With the departure of their vocalist Andy, 'Polarized' (1997) was the last album of the band before they went on hiatus.

"But in 2001, Giovanni Soulas and Achim Welsch decided to continue with Ivanhoe and recruited Mischa Mang as new vocalist. Richard Seibel (keyboards) and Sebastian Brauchle (drums) completed the line-up and the band released the new album 'Walk In Mindfields' via Massacre Records in 2005. A year later, Chuck reunited with the band and Ivanhoe released their latest album 'Lifeline' via Silverwolf Productions in 2008.

"With the addition of Mathias Biehl as new drummer in late 2010, the band focused on their live activities and drew a lot of attention as support act for Queensryche and the Scorpions. They also played at festivals, such as the Bang Your Head!!! Festival and the Building A Force Festival. Achim left the band in mid-2011, putting more responsibility on the shoulders of band leader and founding member Giovanni. More...

Onslaught Announces New Album Release Date

U.K. thrash legends Onslaught have announced that the successor album to 2011's "Sounds of Violence," yet untitled, will be released on September 13, 2013 (Friday the 13th) via AFM Records. The album will be recorded/mixed/co-produced by famed producer Jacob Hansen at Hansen Studios in Denmark beginning on May 18, 2013. Onslaught celebrates its 30th Anniversary this year.

Guitarist Nige Rockett commented: "It’s awesome to be making another album with Jacob Hansen, there was never gonna be anyone else considered, simply because of the way Jacob works on a personal level and the incredible dynamics of his final mixes, we just know its gonna be totally immense…! The writing is 90% complete and its sounding very very cool, I’m not gonna say its ‘louder faster heavier’ than anything we’ve ever done because that’s a little bit cliché these days, all I will say is that ‘it’s very Fresh, it’s Old School and its Ferocious’ the rest we’ll leave up to you guys to decide..!”

More information is expected shortly. More...

Matt Smith From Theocracy Opens Up In Nashville

As a nearly identical long-haired brunette body double for actor Neil Patrick Harris, it’s not surprising that Theocracy vocalist and main songwriter Matt Smith gets noticed by everyone whenever he walks in the room. What is surprising, however, is how his charisma and vocal bravado is saved almost entirely for the stage, along with his leather pants and red button-down shirt. The soft-spoken and calm Matt Smith in front of me in jeans, Vans, and a sweatshirt in the upstairs backstage of The Rutledge on the 15th is telling me that he’s practicing vocal rest for the show ahead of him – a demanding one, at that.

He is about to lead the Theocracy boys in the performing of their sprawling 2011 power metal blowout of an album, “As the World Bleeds,” in its entirety that Friday night to a warm Nashville, TN crowd. A show report from the night can be found here. Moreover, the show is going to be filmed and streamed on a UStream feed to the rest of the world, as part of a “Sanctuary From The Streets” benefit show, with proceeds going towards buying meals for the homeless in Nashville. Despite his warning that he wouldn’t be very chatty that night, he made time before the show for an interview with me. He talked about “As the World Bleeds,” stacking vocal tracks in the studio, and the release of the re-mixed self-titled Theocracy debut, among other things. More...

Weeping Silence Announces Second New Vocalist

Malta's Weeping Silence announced that Dario Pace Taliana was named the band's new male vocalist to compliment new female vocalist Diane Camenzuli, who joined the band this past December. The duo replaces former vocalists Rachel & Joseph Grech.

The announcement from the band reads: "After a lengthy audition phase earlier this year, Weeping Silence are pleased to introduce their male vocalist: Dario Pace Taliana. We thank all the dedicated people who showed an interest & who tried out. Again it was a show of local metal spirit. Dario has been a longtime fan of Weeping Silence & is a true gothic-doomster at heart. His vocals will continue on the path of his forebearer Joe Grech, whom we remember with much admiration & wish great success with his other endevours!
