Perpetual End has checked in with the following announcement about parting ways with the band's guitarist:
"It is with heavy heart and great sadness that we regretfully announce the departure of our guitarist, Leith Wilson, from Perpetual End.
"Leith is a founding member and has been with the band since its inception in 2005. The last 9 years have been an absolute roller coaster ride for everyone in the band, and the time we have had with Leith on axe has been essential to the growth and maturity of our sound.
"It's not a well-known fact that Leith is easily the most hilarious person in the band. I've never met a person that can make a room/van full of dudes erupt in laughter so effortlessly, and for so long. Being on the road with this guy is a force to be reckoned with and something that I personally will miss for years to come.
"Not only did Leith bring the hilarity, but he brought us stability and focus, from the early years right up to today. His wisdom is unparalleled and his drive to improve himself and the band consistently over the years has been inspiring and successful.
"It has left a massive void in our hearts to see him go, but we fully support his decision and wish him nothing but the best for his bright future with his family and the growth of his career.
"This news could not come at a harder time, as the Blood Complex album cycle will indeed come to an abrupt end with our next booked show.
"Leith's final performance with Perpetual End will be on Friday 21st March @ The Basement, Canberra. The 'Electric Eclectic Fest' show will feature the following bands:
Orsome Welles (VIC)
Knights of the Spatchcock
Eyes to the Sky

The self-titled debut LP from Shin To Shin, the project conceived and executed by In Cold Blood/ex-Integrity guitarist Aaron Melnick, is out now on A389 Recordings.
You can stream the release below or pick up your copy at Bandcamp, and the following press release was also issued:
"Shin To Shin is fully the vision and creation of Aaron Melnick, who fully conceived, wrote and performed all music on the album, minus the drums. He even took the lead on the recording process which took place at Cleveland's Mars Studio, after which it was mixed at Developing Nations. The album delivers eight crushing and diverse anthems with a lot of throwbacks to the early '90s metal and hardcore scenes, merging the bottom-dredging influences of Exodus and Celtic Frost with the grit of the no-bullshit hardcore hostility of the Cleveland scene its creator grew up in."
The track listing is as follows:
1. Intro 01:29
2. Shin To Shin 01:53
3. Extinction 02:55
4. Don't Lose Your Way 03:12

California death horde Gravehill and Dark Descent Records have announced April 1st as the release date for the band's third full-length, "Death Curse," on CD and digital formats with vinyl treatment coming soon. Below is the cover art of "Death Curse," the tracklisting of all nine songs, and a rough preview mix of the track "At Hell's Command."
"Death Curse" features over 35 minutes of powerful death metal in the old-school vein and includes guest appearances from some of the biggest legends of death metal. Chris Reifert and Eric Cutler of Autopsy and Kam Lee (Massacre, Death and Bone Gnawer) all made contributions to what threatens to be one of 2014's most skin-grating albums. "Death Curse" features artwork by Christopher Moyen (Incantation, Blasphemy and more).
Vocalist Mike Abominator had this to say about Death Curse: "We have some filthy fucking death metal terror here with 'Death Curse.' These are the things of nightmares, the stench that makes you puke. This is what this album will make you do when you hear it.
We are going with the raw, putrid and dismal live sound this time, to try and capture the feel of one of our live show performances, of which we feel hasn't been represented with our releases so far. Expect the same rotten and old school death metal from us. Fuck triggers! Fuck trends! Fuck technical bullshit! Fuck progress! AND FUCK YOU!"

Shadow Kingdom Records has announced a special double-CD reissue of Pale Divine's 2007 release "Cemetery Earth" on February 18th.The fully remastered "Cemetery Earth" album is contained on disc one, while disc two contains Demo 2006, as well as live and rehearsal material. Stream two selections from the ten-song "Cemetery Earth" below. Shadow Kingdom owner Tim McGrogran had this to say about the reissue:
"The third Pale Divine album is probably right where the band envisioned their sound to be when they first started their career. They are the masters at blending 70s psychedelic blues jamming with sinister dark heavy traditional doom metal. There are not too many bands that are able to do what they can do which makes them the big fish in a small pond if you're into Psych/Doom.
The guitar leads sweep you away, but also gently bring you back to the heart of the song. The addition of John Gaffney (songwriter for Sinister Realm) on bass added different dimension to this album that helped them grow as a band."

Milwaukee, WI extreme metal entity Shroud Of Despondency will self-release a double album journey into the abyss called "Tied to a Dying Animal" on February 12th. While 2012's "Pine" and 2011's "Dark Meditations in Monastic Seclusion" were very well received as black metal albums, "Tied to a Dying Animal" is a more expansive beast.
What better way to exaggerate that commonality than with an absorbing double album, inclusive of four bonus tracks? Guitarist Rory Heikkila tells the two-part tale as follows:
Part 1: "For Innocence, Beauty, and Those Who Defile" is the metal portion recorded at Howl Street Recordings by Shane Hochstetler. Here a variety of metal sub-genres can be heard. Influences of black metal (Emperor and Enslaved), death metal (Immolation, Morbid Angel, and Bolt Thrower), thrash metal (Slayer, Megadeth) can be heard alongside Mercyful Fate or Root. Some King Crimson influence can even be heard.
Part 2: "For Those Who Leave and Find Better Devils", is an acoustic affair recorded across three studios. Neo Classical acoustic guitar instrumentals and American Folk music are both on display along with a variety of percussive instruments, vocals, synths, and even a Theremin.
The only rule that applies to both albums is that they explore the despair and alienation of city life. Each set of lyrics has a character struggling to reconcile moral urges with the natural savagery of human existence, a conflict exasperated by the constant motion of civilization. Each song pits the individual against the group.
For a more intimate exploration of lyrical themes and inspiration, a detailed explanation of all the friends and musicians who helped with the effort, and to stream Parts 1 and 2 of "Tied to a Dying Animal" in full please visit this location or stream all seventeen tracks below.
The Pirate metal flag bearers in Alestorm are currently holed up in the studio working on a new album and follow-up to "Back Through Time" (reviewed here).
This new album "Sunset on the Golden Age" is slated for release in summer 2014 via Napalm Records, and now the band has checked in with the following update:
"It's day 5 in the studio, and all the lead vocals, screams, and death growls for our upcoming album 'Sunset on the Golden Age' are complete! All credit goes to the healing powers of mead; an essential ingredient in achieving the elusive gnarly piratical vocal sound. Next up - time for Pete to record some drums!" More...
"And yet another guest performance for our upcoming record 'The Human Contradiction.' We're proud to announce the return of: George Oosthoek.
"The collaboration between Delain and George goes way back! He already performed with us on our debut Lucidity and has often joined us at live gigs over the years. His brutal grunts don't find their equal easily, and since our upcoming record 'The Human Contradiction' in many ways re?ects back on our earlier work that featured his grunts, we are very excited about this reunion!"
George adds: "They tricked me!!!! Just kidding! It was a pleasure working with the girl and guys again. From what I've heard 'The Human Contradiction' is Delain's heaviest album up till now. It sounds massive. I'm honoured that they asked me to be part of it. I hope you will like it too. Rock on!!!"
Last summer, Emperor announced an official reunion for 2014, with Ihsahn, Samoth, and Faust coming together for festival appearances.
Now it has also been announced that Emperor's "As the Shadows Rise" EP will be reissued for the first time since its original release in 1994, strictly limited to 666 copies. Details are available below.

Chilean thrash metal band Warchest has announced that it will start the recording sessions of the drum tracks for its second album on Feb 21st. The whole recording process it will be done in between the months of Feb/Mar in two different studios, AudioCustom and PigNoize, both in Santiago, Chile.
The new album will be produced by Christian Pelaez and Jose Tomas Garcia, the latter an ex-guitarist of the band. Guitarist /Vocalist Christian Pelaez commented:
"We were working on this during the whole last year. We came up with 9 tracks, with a little more technical and modern style than the one before, so we think that it's like an evolution from our part. About the lyrics - this is not a conceptual album, so it will continue along the lines of 'Aftershock'.
We are still defining the rest of things, such as mastering, artwork and distribution. We are going to go through them calmly to make the right decisions as always. From my part I'm very exited - the demos are sounding killer already! We don't know when are we going to have it ready, but we've assumed that it would be around mid year or the end of it at the latest. We hope we can deliver it soon for you all!"
