In celebration of its official unveiling tomorrow, today This Is Not A Scene is hosting the stream of "Trinity Of Falsehood," the forthcoming new full-length from Sacramento death metal assassins The Kennedy Veil. Hear the full album below, and drummer Gabe Seeber also comments:
"The past two years leading up to this release have been rough, but very beneficial for TKV. From the departure of our previous vocalist to the recording of Trinity Of Falsehood, there was a long period of downtime where we were just seeking the right person to complete the band. We tried out a lot of great vocalists and wound up with the perfect guy to complement our sound and help push us further along the path we've only just begun to carve. By the time Taylor joined, the album was already written, minus a handful of lyrics. So we immediately started pushing to finally complete the album and get it recorded and into production. We all feel that Trinity... is a huge step forward from our self-release (The Sentence of Their Conqueror), and a big step in the right direction for where we are taking things in the future. We are still just getting started, and are extremely excited to finally have this album pressed and ready to be heard!" More...

Cult of Luna and God Seed have announced a string of upcoming tour dates, available below, and Indie Recordings also comments:
"2013 saw Cult of Luna return after more than 5 years away with the sprawling masterpiece that was ‘Vertikal.’ Absence might have made fan’s hearts grow fonder, but this was no nostalgia trip: Cult Of Luna sounded more relevant than ever and the album appeared high in the end of year lists of both fans and press alike. Their live reputation was cemented with numerous sold out shows across Europe and standout performances at festivals such as Pukkelpop, Summer Breeze, Brutal Assault, Roadburn, Hellfest and Damnation.
"Both Hellfest and Damnation were also stages for God Seed to display that they’d lost nothing in the transition and growth of Gaahl and King after Gorgoroth. Hordes packed these stages and weren’t disappointed as the band displayed their art whilst stripping back their stage show to reveal something even more potent: the will to grow; the god within man; the god within nature; the will to reach one’s highest potential. These are values all embedded in the name of God Seed."

Original Trouble drummer Jeff “Oly” Olson will launch a Belgium-style stout named Red Howes with Allagash Brewing Company set for release on Saturday, January 25th. The limited bottles will be sold in 750 ml and will be distributed nationwide on draft.
Named after Olson’s Grandfather, Red Howes is an Imperial Stout brewed with over 3,000 pounds of New England cranberries. Coincidentally, the cranberry’s brewed in the beer are of the Red Howes and Early Blacks variety. The beer is black in color with a creamy beige head brewed with 2-Row barley, a blend of roasted malts and grains. Cocoa, coffee, and berries fill the aroma with flavors of dried fruit and bitter chocolate with a slight tartness and a dry lingering finish. 8.5% ABV.
Olson is no stranger to the brewing industry having worked in breweries and wineries for over twenty years whilst not on band tours. Moreover, Olson has been writing and recording in the music industry since the formation of Trouble (1979) and holds a Bachelor of Music degree in film scoring, cum laude, from Berklee College of Music.
Currently, Olson is playing drums and keyboards for The Skull (featuring original Trouble vocalist Eric Wagner and longtime Trouble bassist Ron Holzner), Victor Griffin’s In~Graved, and is a multi-instrumentalist with his heavy psychedelic/doom project Retro Grave. More...
Scar Symmetry's Per Nilsson has checked in with the following announcement about the band's upcoming album:
"Last year, Henrik approached me with this super cool lyrical concept, that was so complex and vast in scope that we realized it was a story that couldn't be told in just one album.
"So, the decision was made: instead of writing a new album, we started working on a trilogy of albums - the most ambitious project of our career. The first of the three albums is called 'The Singularity (phase I: Neohumanity).'
"In the coming decades we will see the rise of artificial intelligence and transhumanism. Humanity will build artilects (artificial intellects) with mental capacities far above the human level of thought. By the year 2030, one of the world's biggest industries will be 'artificial brains,' used to control artilects that will be genuinely intelligent and useful. Millions of people will be prepared to spend more money on an artilect than on a car. More...

Her names are many: Rahabh, Leviathan, Tannin, Apep, Bakunava, but her call remains singular: Rise from the depths of shame and 'become your master's death!.'" More...

We are sure fans have been anxious to know what the band sounds like today after all the turmoil and old members leaving and new members joining. Flotsam and Jetsam, which was recently covered in our Sunday Old School column, has re-recorded the "No Place For Disgrace" album.
Pre-orders for the new version are available via Metal Blade at this location, and the album will see release on March 4th, 2014. Flotsam and Jetsam also comments:
"We have re-recorded 'No Place For Disgrace' because we have had a lot of requests to remix this record. The master tapes have been very difficult to obtain so we decided to re-record the album and use some of today's technologies to recreate it.
"The aim was not really to change but to enhance it with the opportunity with the use of new tools. We have the time available as well and it just seemed like a no brainer. A lot of the die hards are really nervous about it but I think after the final result they will embrace it. The sound quality is 100% better and more refined!" More...
Ireland's epic black metal outfit Eternal Helcaraxe has unleashed a new music video for "Flames In The Darkness," a song which is featured exclusively on the "Elemental Nightmares" vinyl project.
The video was directed by Chris O'Brien and shot entirely in JD Studios. Guitarist/vocalist Praetorian comments on the track:
"It's about the handful of elite groups of people who sit on top of the food chain in the world today. They are destroying cultures and anything with any passion or life to this world. There are those are the 'flames in the darkness,' who feel like they were born in the wrong time and are willing to take a stand and fight for something real, to make this world our own again and not give in to commercial greed!"
"Elemental Nightmares" is a vinyl collection consisting of 13 7" splits featuring 26 bands. In addition, when placed side by side, the artwork for each split combines into one large piece of art. The collection is limited to 300 copies and is hand numbered. Further details are available right here. More...
This past December, Finnish melodic death metal band Insomnium spent the holiday season in the studio recording a 6th full-length album.
In order to achieve the best production in the band's history, Insomnium decided to record drums at SF Sound (with Kimmo Perkkiö), located in the group's former hometown (Joensuu), while recording the remaining instruments at studio Korkeakoski (Kotka) with Teemu Aalto. André Alvinzi (Fascination Street Studios) will now mix the album so that it will see a spring 2014 release.
Insomnium' Ville Friman (guitars/vocals) comments: "Again, the process could be described as a battle against time and ever-narrowing deadlines. We worked long days and we worked hard. But in the end, it was all worth it: new songs sound just amazing. I think the new material is a bit more atmospheric than before. We explored different directions, and for example, experimented with rhythms a bit more; we even have blast beats on this album. And of course, Markus Vanhala brought in his influence in terms of song writing and guitar playing which is something new. However, I think we did not push it too far but stayed loyal to our own sound. Our intention was never really to change but merely update and revise our sound a bit. And I think we did pretty good job with it." More...
The Goremasters in Aborted have returned to Hansen studio to record an eight studio album, "The Necrotic Manifesto." The album will be produced once again by Danish producer Jacob Hansen (Volbeat, Heaven Shall Burn, Mercenary). Frontman Sven de Caluwé had to say the following about the recordings:
"Well, it's been more than 2 years since we recorded Global Flatline, an album that we put a lot of work into and brought us all over the world and we are still most proud of. Time goes on though and it's time for the next chapter in our maniacal adventures! We have been working hard for the past 6 months to bring you a worthy successor to Global Flatline and ladies and gentlemen, I believe we have definitely reached that goal! At the end of this year your favorite 5 miscreants locked themselves up in Groningen to lay waste on way too much fast food, pornography to finish pre-productions and writing for our next slab of gore metal 'The Necrotic Manifesto.'
"We are currently starving Ken Bedene to make sure he is at his most feral when he tracks. Danny and Mendel are preparing their utmost brutal Undertaker moves and Jb is growing even more beard to bring the MAN to the metal. Nobody really cares what Sven does since he just poops into a mic and Jacob Hansen has been well warned about the ridiculous amounts of blastbeats that will rattle his cage. Get ready Mankind, Aborted is coming right at ya!'
In support of "The Necrotic Manifesto," Aborted will tour North America together with Kataklysm in April. Aborted will return to Europe in May for a handful of release shows before heading into the festival season. More...
